almost as good and much cheaper while bringing in an asset in trade?

I don't really know,  but sometimes you want to have cheaper players who do basically the same thing.

I'm not really a fan of OLB/edges who aren't or can't be ILBs.

OLB/edges get big money because they get a lot of sacks and they get a lot of snaps because they're pure sackers at a position that allows pure sackers the capability to make sacks.  230-240 players are generally not all that good at run defense, especially when the point of the play is to have a big guy block the edge guy.   There's a disadvantage all the time with the run.  If there was a big DE there,  260-290,  they wouldn't be putting runs in  direction quite as much.

It's not a big deal,  but the bigger edges tend to be better at run and the smaller ones better at pass rush.     What I think defenses noticed is that, generally,  it's the small fast ones who get more sacks.  What defenses could consider trying is putting very small and very fast players in the designated sacker position.   A mammoth giant tackle is said to have difficulty with smaller, faster rushers.  Quick first step and all that.   What if the sacker position was filled by Xavier Worthy with a 4.21 40?    Sackers are currently getting $20 Million or so for 11 sacks?   If you just use the fast little guys in rotation,   you might get the same results at lower cost.  Not being as good at run defense is something acceptable with smaller OLBs because they get more sacks,  should also be acceptable with very little players,  LBs, DBs,  anyone on offense who might bring something to the sacking table.  A DL of 3.  Big players,  and sackers between them instead of outside of them.

Forget Worthy, why not make Tyreek Hill an EDGE. Such genius - can’t believe no one has implemented that. Dolphins better fire that geek of a HC and call this guy now!

Lane Johnson doesn’t stand a chance trying to block Xavier Worthy

I tried Church’s Texas Chicken for the first time last night.  Much better than Popeyes; the chicken wasn’t as drowned in batter, and the honey butter biscuits were far superior to the tasteless hockey pucks Popeyes serves.

Nah…was it in a seedy location at least?  The worse the location the better the Churches is from my experience and if they have gizzards on the menu, the food there is edible.  Either way Churches turns my guts inside out normally.

Saying a 5’11 165lb guy should play edge isn’t even good trolling. It’s a waste of bandwidth.

Raising Cane is horrible and way overrated. I couldn't even finish my 6 pack of strips

But what if he’s like really fast?

He’ll bounce really hard off of Daniel Jones who will end up tackling himself

Theres no players that really stand out. Zaire Franklin would be great but they just signed him to an extension so he’s probably off the table. Kwity Paye wouldn’t make sense for them to trade but I’d take him.

Their picks are tricky too. I doubt you get #50 and just #82 would be underwhelming but most likely. I’d take Jelani Woods and #82 but they probably don’t.

I say Anthony Richardson. Think about it, a QB with that kind of athleticism and RAS scores could be unreal for this offense. We could employ him all over the field, as a TE, or a RB, defenses will have to stay honest because of his ability with throwing the ball too! Imagine Jalen Hurts and Anthony Richardson on the field at the same time, with Jordan Davis as a fullback. We’d have the most dynamic offense in the league. If you don’t believe me just look at the RAS scores!!

I say we send Josh Sweat & Kenny Pickett to the Colts for Anthony Richardson

Get a 3rd rd pick for Reddick and call it a day

Yep. I just don't see the outrage over not giving a massive extension to a guy who would be playing at 31-33 for the duration of a three year deal. Especially one who was not as effective last season as he was in 2022. Especially when they have younger/cheaper options in Huff and Smith at the position. Everyone complained about not going young at corner last year and bringing back Slay and Bradberry, and now a bunch of people want to do the same thing with Reddick.

Huff and Smith aren't better than Reddick. Losing him makes that defense even worse if it's just for a draft pick. We kept BG around for years not sure why they couldn't make it work for Reddick as well who is still playing at a high level as a double digit sack guy despite an injury and a clueless DC dropping him back in coverage for whatever reason. He definitely has a good 2-3 years left in the tank and isn't comparable to Slay and Bradberry given the position. I'll be sad to see him go.

We don't even know what money he's getting or would get yet. If Reddick is traded and gets a 25m per year extension over 4 years I think most people would understand. But I find it highly unlikely he gets that. I bet if he's traded he signs like a 1-2 year extension for 20m, And again, statistically he didn't have the sack numbers, but that was more circumstantial than anything. He very likely repeats the same sack totals if he had a real defensive coordinator and didn't start the season out in a cast. From weeks 4-13ish, he was even better than he was in 2022. He had 11 sacks from weeks 4-13 and in 2022 he only had 8.5. And he did it against better competition too. He's showing absolutely no signs of slowing down. If he looked a step slow or whatever, I'd understand. I actually think if you factor in the Patricia disaster as a team wide extenuating circumstance, he was probably better in 2023 than 2022, if anything. I basically don't count the last month of the season because of Patricia. Him coming in ruined the entire defense. Not one player played well under him.

And if the Eagles traded Reddick for a 3rd, they are objectively a worse team than they were when they finished the season.

-Reddick, Cox, Kelce, Driscoll, Opeta, Swift

+Barkley, Huff, CJGJ, Hennessy, White, Burks, Baun, Parker

Is a net negative

And I can't even factor in Smith at this point. He may turn out to be good, but as far as I'm concerned he stinks until proven otherwise. He showed absolutely nothing in 2023. Looked like a high schooler out there. Small and easily overpowered. He looked awful if I'm going to be honest. I haven't given up on him, but you can't count on him next season that's for damn sure. Not in a year of this importance. This is one of the most important seasons in Eagles history in many respects. If Jalen Hurts has a bad year, suddenly his future is in question after having a down 2023. And Sirianni's job is on the line. Not to mention it's Graham's last year and Lane only has so many years left. They need to be going all in to do what they can to win, and if they were that obsessed with balancing future and present, they shouldn't have gone out and paid a running back that kind of dough.

Nice. Yeah and this is coming from someone who never eats fast food or takeout and rarely goes out to restaurants. Pretty much always cook at home.

One opened up in the Chatlotte area, and after playing a gig nearby a while back, someone suggested we grab food there.

Their fried chicken is just done right. Crispy, juicy, and full of flavor. Comes in a variety of spice levels. I ordered second from hottest and it did not disappoint.

Really good sides. Their homemade pickles are on point too.

I don't like the idea of trading Reddick. I like him. I get the business side and the age and all that. He's a productive player. The defensive roster overall lacked talent. He is one of the better talents. If they trade him, better be a good trade.

Does anyone else hate themselves for some of the crap they like? For example, I tried Dr. Pepper Peeps today because 1). I’m a fat ****, and 2). I ain't no ****.

Anyway, the taste is pretty spot-on. And now I hate myself for liking them. Every fiber of my being wanted to hate these goddamn things. Sigh.

Last night, I tried Nerds gummy clusters. They’re pretty fire, and I hate myself way less for liking them.

It's not about whose better right now, it's about projecting things moving forward. Smith is a total wild card at this point but Huff was just as productive as Reddick last season with FAR less snaps so it wouldn't be a surprise if he was even more productive with a larger role next season.

Either way, we don't know what's going on behind closed doors. If Reddick is saying give me an extension or trade me it changes things dramatically. I just think the guy had a career year in 2022 and regressed back to the usual in 2023 and with him about to turn 30 in September giving him a massive extension would be stupid. Even if he remains the 10-12 sack guy he was in 2020, 2021, and 2023 for the next two to three years they should be able to replace that production with cheaper younger talent which is what I'm sure the Eagles thinking. I'm not sure why so many are struggling with this idea other than just being overly attached to Reddick or thinking the 16 sack season wasn't an outlier.

You keep failing to take into account what a difference going from two morons at DC to one of the best in the league in recent years will do for the defense. Huff replaces Reddick, you know, the guy who had a whopping one less sack in like 300 less snaps last season. 2023 was an outlier for Reddick, he's a 10-12 sack guy which Huff should easily provide and possibly even more with a bigger role.

Those used to be my guilty pleasure.

Really stoned, I would take two clusters and smush them into a Warheads gummy cube. Never smoked crack, but I imagine the dopamine response was similar lol

I don't do that anymore.

Glad to hear these guys finally dive in to some of the guys I posted about a while ago.

Guerendo, Shipley, and theyve even boosted Tyrone Tracy in to their top 10s. Which I think is kinda crazy. But these are a few guys I havent seen enough draft coverage on. Although Guerendo popped a bit after the combine, the other guys havent gotten much pub.

I'll have to try those and give them another shot if I'm in Texas again. Maybe I tried them on a bad day. Even Post owns one.
