Struggling to get excited about this draft tbh

Can anyone change my mind?

No. It's not as an exciting draft as most years. How the QB carrousel falls is the most intriguing thing about the draft.

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

This is the right move. Reddick will play on the last year of his deal unless the Eagles find a trade they like. Feel this has been the case since the beginning.

Yea, I don't think its Reddick can't find a deal. It might not be a $25M deal he was looking for, but it's probably more/longer than what Eagles are willing to do. If he was on the street as a FA he'd probably be signed already.

He’d have been a day 1 free agent signing

I tend to think the Eagles have the value of a high second round pick for him, and a conditional 2025 pack based off his performance. And I’m guessing most teams are willing to give them a third and maybe a mid round pick in 2025. And that’s not good enough for the Eagles as they rather use him this year And his value is more to them this year than that package. if he was a free agent he probably signs on the first day. He might not make the 25 million but I’m guessing he probably makes something like 21 to 23 mil per and it probably be on a contract that you can move on after three years with more guaranteed money than the Eagles are willing to give him at his current age.

Go watch highlights of random draftees. Maybe some will pique your interest

This is a VERY athletic class at some key positions like defensive line, receiver, and offensive line.

One of the best WR drafts top to bottom I’ve seen. It’s got everything you could ever want. Blue chip generational prospects, extreme m upside day 2 picks, lightening speed, technicians, late round sleepers, hulking jump ball specialists… it has it all, and multiple quality prospects in every mold.I’m hoping we can come away with 2 of them.

The OT group is deep as well. Lots of guys with size and athleticism, and the sweet spot seems to be the late first through second round, where we have 3 picks. We will definitely get one of them.

Edge isn’t as strong, but there are a lot of athletic guys with size. Tons of high upside DTs that will go after the first round if we look for a guy to replace Cox and want a long term Williams replacement.

His daughter is funny.   Her "Good Daddy" during the press conference totally made Saquon relax and smile.

Reddick has overpriced his market, big surprise.  His sacks maybe influence a dozen plays per year.  But although he pretty much rushes the QB, he isn’t a DE. Too small at 6’1” 240 lbs. Limited on sealing the edge and visibly not happy at being asked to cover, which he isn’t very good at.  So they signed Huff as a DE. 6’3” and 255.  Huff can seal and what differentiates him and Reddick is his pressure rate.  That is as important, if not more so, than sacks.

So a team running a 4/3 would likely look at Reddick as a SAM that can’t cover and a team running a 3/4 would likely look at Reddick as a rush OLB that can’t do much dropping into coverage.  That limits the defense disguises. That lowers his contract value.  That also may impact his trade value.  I suspect that is what Reddick’s agent found.  I suspect that is what Howie told the agent when asked about an extension and asserting he outplayed his contract.  Reddick gets $4 million+ in bonuses this year plus $14+ million in salary.  His play last year did not reflect value more than that.

He's a one trick pony, a very good trick, but really best used as a 3rd down specialist as he ages. Playing every down, and actually taking on run responsibilities (other than crashing down the LOS) and sealing the edge will wear down an undersized DE. One reason Howie likes to have a stable of pass rushers off the edge.

Reddick is a top pass rusher, but he's probably being paid what he's actually worth, he's not an elite DE nor an elite 3-4 OLB.

Howies going full dream team so they will likely be making a big move draft night whether that's a trade up or a trade for a vet like the AJ Brown trade.

That's my sense of it too. Not a great group of DBs, a decent crop of LBs with no one head and shoulders above the rest, a bunch of QBs of no interest to us, and that's about it. Teams with really good scouts and coaches who can develop raw talent will do well; the rest, not so much.

Yeah, the top of the draft isn’t that exciting to me, but the second day definitely is.

Other than corner, I really like the class for us. We need to get some talent behind Smith and Brown, and this class has it in spades. We need to start rebuilding the right side of our OL and Stoutland is sure to find a couple of guys he can shape.

There might not be any high end LBs, but I like the guys in the second through 4th round which is where we would look anyway. Good combination of size, athleticism and production.

TE is pretty intriguing as well. Kind of the same theme of raw size, athleticism and upside. There looks to be a lot of depth later in the draft too, which is perfect for us. Half a dozen or so guys who are 6’5” 250ish that can run and jump.

As you say, the teams that can develop talent are going to make out like bandits. I could see a couple teams coming away with multiple pro bowlers just because the level of athleticism is so deep.

I don’t think we trade for a vet like Brown because of the money it would cost.

More likely we look for a Swift type deal on a cheap rookie contract.

As far as trading up, maybe, but there aren’t many guys that fit the position of value and need. Maybe we target a very specific OT, or feel like we absolutely have to get Arnold or Mitchell to start. But I think it’s more likely we sit tight and make a small move up to secure one of the tier 2 OTs.

We’ll want to keep both of our second rounders. Good LBs and WRs in that range.

I like this draft a lot. Good at CB and OT, two positions the Eagles could really use. I like a lot of iOL too, which the Eagles could use. And loaded at WR.

I’m not as high on the corners, but the OL is really deep.

Traditionally we have targeted college OTs for guard, but this year there seems to be a bunch of "pure” guards with the athleticism Stoutland likes.

I'm really starting to come around on Rakestraw at 22.  OT will probably be the pick there but I can't say I'd be upset if it weren't.

Heard he was injured during combine which is why his 40 time wasn't that great.  Any corner under 185 pounds makes me nervous though if drafting in 1st round
