Is there a bandwagon for this?

Had to reinflate the tires on the "trade Brandon Graham” two years in bandwagon

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

Still no Simmons news....?

Howie got CJGJ, he's addressed the position so doubt he does anything else. Might draft a mid round safety to show his dedication to fixing the defense

There's no guarantee CJGJ starts at S. He could very well start in the slot. Even if that's the case you have CJGJ/Blankenship... Brown will probably miss the first month of the season.

Was a mostly tongue-in-cheek comment since Howie generally doesn't show any interest in actually improving the defense. He'll throw a bunch of reclamation projects and mid round picks at a position and call it a day. Happened with LB last year, looks like it'll happen at LB and S this year.

Howie has invested in the S position in the past. I don't think he's done there yet. You're right about LB. Probably draft one in the 4th and 5th rd

Not holding my breath on Davis ever playing up to where we traded up and drafted him. Never been a fan. Hoping he proves me wrong but he’s a total JAG at the moment.

Let's hope the NFL listens to the ones doing the tackling and being tackled.

How the hell do they expect a smaller guy to tackle a bigger guy? You grab, twist, and drag.

This is another way for them to dictate games with more stupid rules.  It won't be consistently called.

New rule proposal one step closer to this...

I’m on the trade Jordan Davis bandwagon. Feel like you can find what he brings very cheap and you could get a couple picks from him. After 2 seasons, it’s looking like it was a dumb first round pick.

Biggest upgrade of the offseason. Massive potential for this fella now.

Figured it was coming, but I bet it doesn't get adopted this year. Next year is a different story.

He’ll bounce really hard off of Daniel Jones who will end up tackling himself

But did you look at the RAS compare (as DE) though?

If you ignore the height, the weight and the bench - its pretty comparable. Hill just needs to dodge, dip, dive, duck and dodge under the OT arms when he pass rushes

My ignorance of DBs is extensive. Whom do you like?

In addition to the guys I think will already be gone (Terrion Arnold, and Quinyon Mitchell), here are my round 1 and round 2 guys.

Cooper DeJean- Uber all around athlete with potentially a slight bit of hip stiffness. State record 100m sprinter. State record basketball scorer (more than Harrison Barnes).  Capable man CB, but better zone CB. Some project him to safety, mostly because of his skin but a little because of stiffness. But hes a good CB. High floor as he will no doubt make an excellent safety if he were to fail as a CB (which I dont think he will). Good size and will cover as well as play the run very well. Yet to see him work out due to recovering form injury. Skipped combine and Iowa pro day. Will work out some time in April. Added value with return skills.

Nate Wiggins- tall and lanky CB. On the slim side but does come up aggressively against screens and passes in the flats. Takes some flack for tackling. Think of Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. Extremely sticky cover guy with 4.2 speed. Ran a 4.28 at the combine while he pulled a groin on that run. So, he is even faster than that.

Kool-Aid McKinstry- originally the top billed CB in this draft. Good size for the position. People question deep speed a bit, but he has run in the 4.4s I believe, at his pro day which is more than adequate with his length. He took a bit of a back seat this year to Terrion Arnold. Mostly because teams would not through McKinstry's way. Arnold held up well enough to earn the top CB billing. McKinstry, to me is this year's version of Joey Porter Jr.  Hes being slept on because of a lack of statistical production when in reality, he is just that damn good.

Those are just the round 1 targets. I suspect each of them will actually be better players than an OL that may be available. Im assuming the top 2 or 3 OTS are gone, as well as Powers-Johnson. I assume Howie will be tempted by the attributes of Amarius Mims in a trade up. Or potentially Guyton in a trade down. They wont be ready to start early this season but they wont need to.

Theres been buzz building for the eagles and Ennis Rakestraw. Hes more or a borderline round 2 guy to me. But hes athletic enough, and very physical in press, and in run support. Hes big enough but under 6'0'' in a draft filled with lanky CBs.

My top round 2 CB prospect would be TJ Tampa. He played mostly zone in college but appears athletic enough to handle man as well. Exceptional length. Fast and physical.

Rakestraw jumps in to the conversation for me at this point.

Khyree Jackson and Cam Hart are two more 6'2'' or 6'3' CBs with good builds. Both physical. Khyree Jackson, I believe has some character concerns. Im not sure how serious they are.

Max Melton is another really physical CB with good speed. Brings some dawg to the defense like Rakestraw, and Tampa do.

Kamari Lassiter is pretty good but he has solidified himself as a zone only CB with 40 times in the 4.6s. Im not sure if he even sticks in round 2 anymore. Maybe a round 3 guy, so Ill stop there.

I get wanting to remove hip drop tackles but the 15 yds and auto 1st down is BS

More than that, but I get your premise.

Your rankings and mine are literally exactly the same. I think at 22 the Eagles will have the choice between at least two of DeJean, Wiggins, and McKinstry. If they go in a different direction, to me, it’s an endorsement on how they feel about Ringo. Tampa would also be my top choice in the 2nd.

He’s not going to sign or draft anyone to "show” anything.

He has limited resources and is trying to maximize the impact with those resources. We have 2 young safeties and CJGJ. Signing another starter at safety is goi by to block at least one of the young guys from playing, so I doubt it happens.

I suppose I should factor in slot guys somewhere but like with WR theres too  many good outside guys for me to care about the littler typecasted guys.

Sainristil, Abrams-Draine, Jarian Jones, and Bullard probably deserve to slot in somewhere though.

What is?

Not that this means much, but the little I see about Hall on Twitter has been overwhelmingly positive. Seems like Raiders fans were confused why he didn’t play more.
