Ok I love the Barkley deal

This is the WR they sign? lol ok...

He's barely an NFL player. Why not just go after Cedrick Wilson?

Actually on second thought I guess they say he had 600+ yards in 2022 in a better offense, maybe they can get something out of him. But most of his career he's been an absolute zero and is only 26.

Is Cooper the best off-ball LB in this draft class?  If so, there's not a chance in the world he's on the board at #53.  At least one off-ball LB gets chosen in the first round virtually every year.

Edgerrin Cooper has the most upside of any off-ball LB in this class. There is no first round LB.

Payton Wilson is the best LB by a mile. But his injury history is scarier than Landon Dickerson's.

Camp body competition.

Need camp players and you have to pay them.

Because they loved him in the draft

I can’t think of 2 worse receivers to sign than Parker and Campbell.  My lord

Would you trade down in the first, if possible, and select Cooper at the end of the first?

Statistically, it's hard for me to wrap my head around exactly what the Eagles have in mind with that Barkley signing.  Both Sanders and Swift were productive, given their roles and workload:

2022 Sanders -- 259 carries, 1,269 yards (4.9 ypr).  Wanted to come back; Eagles didn't want to pay him 4 years at $6.4M per season

2023 Swift -- 229 carries, 1,049 yards (4.6 ypr).  Local guy you'd figure would want to come back; Eagles didn't want to pay 3 years at $8M per season

2024 Barkley -- 4.0 yards per carry over the past 4 seasons.  Eagles paying him $13M/yr for two seasons, or $37.75M for 3 seasons

I've been reading on here Barkley is better in pass pro.  Okay, but I'm not sure I want to pay an extra $5M+ per year for the RB to block well.  Are the Eagles expecting a 300 carry, 1,500 yards impact?  It's been joked on here that Hurts will be stealing all of his red zone TDs, but that begs the serious question how impactful will Barkley be in the red zone?  For me, Barkley's impact has to be keeping the ball out of Hurts' hands in the ground game.  Take all of the heavy carries away from Hurts so he isn't absorbing any physical punishment.  He's not a power back per se, but that is an impact I feel he could have.

Schematically, he also has to threaten defenses to the extent it takes coverage away from AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith because defenses have to allocate attention to Saquon.  Can he have that impact on a game?  I doubt it.

He's not a "power" back, but he is a "big" back.  He can be that type of runner on a 4th and 1 or 4th and goal.  His leg strength is no less impressive than Hurts... and he should be the guy that they rely on for the short yardage, not Hurts.   Keep the sneak, but eliminate the Push.  Have wrinkles off a sneak.   The Push was very effective... but it also offered almost nothing significant in terms of a big play wrinkle to run off of it.  Everyone was just way too packed in tight.   There should be a wrinkle that can turn a 3rd and very short into a touchdown from anywhere inside the 30 yard line.  Where is that with the Push?

I don't the impact of Barkley is 300 carries, but it very well could be 300+ 'touches' and 1500-1750 yards from scrimmage.  Sanders had 1347 scrimmage yards in 2022.  Sanders should be able to beat that if given the opportunities (assuming his health holds up).   And they need to do it while limiting Hurts' carries.  Stop using him as a power back.  Its ridiculous and careless.

9.1.5 is a bit away - General Discussion - World of Warcraft Forums

I'm going to stay skeptical about Barkley. Nothing against the player or the person, I just don't like signing old RB's with tons of mileage. I'd rather be wrong and impressed than disappointed.

And I know Campbell is a camp body but it still feels gross to sign NYG skill players.

But did you look at the RAS compare (as DE) though?

If you ignore the height, the weight and the bench - its pretty comparable. Hill just needs to dodge, dip, dive, duck and dodge under the OT arms when he pass rushes

EXCELLENT!!!

now,  what do I need to do to provide a picture instead of a link?

Tyreek Hill-like player.    Hill is much faster, 40/20/10.  And much better shuttle and 3 cone.   shorter and lighter and worse bench.

Neither is what you want on DL if you care about run defense.

The NFL has had Cornerback blitzes and Safety blitzes for a long time,  so, it's known that small players can sack.

So,  you have 3 big players on the DL in a 3-4,  2 of those DL are playing the edge,  and between the edges,  there are a bunch of different guys rotating, pass rushing.  And  one of them might have a 6.53 3 cone and a 4.29 40, but those numbers are very rare.

Agreed.  I think Barkley will provide only a very small uptick over what the Eagles had at RB before.

Maybe Howie came across some Torrance Small film tucked away at the NovaCare and is trying to relive the Eagles glory days.

How is it possible for a WR to average 5 YPR?

Was Jordan Davis anymore valuable than Linval Joseph? I didn’t see it.

One of my biggest gripes with the offense over the last few years has been the constant rotating RBs. No one was going to get in a groove when they are constantly subbing the RB. It was maddening last year when Swift would break off a few decent runs only to be taken out of the game for quarters at a time. The reluctance to feed the hot RB and bring Kenny Gainwell in to the game was so frustrating. At the very least, bringing in Saquon, especially with the contract they gave him, means that he is the bell cow and Gainwell can now go back to a true backup role.

Saquon is going to allow them to open the offense up and become much less predictable. He should also allow them to take the called QB sweeps, draws and other Hurts runs out of the offense, lessening the wear on him. I'm perfectly happy with Hurts scrambling abilities if they are used when a play breaks down. However, calling multiple runs for him per game needs to stop.

I kinda like Campbell as a camp body.

Campbell is not going to be our WR3. At least I would hope not.

Pretty good discussion on OL in this draft. Starts around 14:05

Thank you so much for posting this. I was happy that most of my amateurish opinions on a lot of these prospects was pretty much born out by these guys, who know a lot more than I do.

This would be annoying. Hasn't felt like the Eagles have any urgency to add another safety though. Maybe they're waiting for Simmons' price to come down.
