And the football gods will give the Eagles what they want, if it's an easy ask like "no playoffs".   Most teams want playoffs, when you don't want playoffs, football gods can give that to you.

People point and assume too much about the Rooney Rule. 

Yes, some teams have sham interviews (see Brian Flores). But that doesn't mean every minority interview is a sham. This is the first round of interviews. Some of them are favors to get their name out there. Some of them are to pick different candidates brains either about different philosophies or even who they see as upcoming and coaches they would want on their staff. Some is to build a rolodex if they ever need to hire someone for a different position or consultant role. 

I said this the other day. Falcons have interviewed 6 minority coaches before Brian Johnson. Whether they have legitimate interest in him as a HC or not, they clearly want to get to know him for something other than just fulfilling the Rooney Rule.

But you can put anyone -  big heavy players - under center.  If the Eagles were to do that, that would also work.  

And why is D Smith on the field in those situations?  Why put players who aren't big and strong on the field when the play is push and shove forward?

Getting the most snaps for a WR isn't that impressive a stat.

No team would ever hire a HC off of only a zoom call anyway.
