Ive seen some Tip Reimann mentioned in here. Ive seen Dallin Holker's name. Ive seen my guy McLauchlan in a bunch of mock simulators posted in here. Of course Theo Johnson after his combine workout...

One guy who I havent seen anyone talk about is Ben Sinnott. Really interesting things these guys have to say about him. Very intrigued.

Theo Johnson and his combine workout are the only things that really move the needle for me, for attainable TEs.

TE is the DT of the offense.  It’s an important position where a liability hurts you.  But you don’t need to blast the position with resources (as we do at DT) to find someone to do a good job.  A true game wrecker at DT or weapon at TE is invaluable…but they are so, so rare.  So many first round picks fall into the simply good but not great starter category; their jobs could have been comparably done for a lot cheaper.

He may be a bust, but at least the unique specs give him a shot to project as one of the more weaponized TEs.

Who do you guys think is a better QB4 than Will Grier right now?

John Rhys Plumlee

Johnny Langan

Not saying Grier isn't good,  but I'd rather the Eagles get those 2 guys.

I'm not sure exactly what "QB4" actually does,  so it's hard to tell what "better" is.

I prefer versatile and running and cheap and high ceiling.  Grier did do well in college and I remember thinking he was good in college.

Eagles coaches know him.

My concern is that, due to cap constraints, the 2025 Eagles will be the 2024 Eagles running it back.  If we don’t see some massive leap forward this year into perennial contender status, we irrevocably slide into a several year locked-in ride with the Hurts contract kicking in where they will be good but not close to good enough.  That’s kind of the ride that the 76ers are getting ready to finish and the one that the Phillies are mid-cruise in right now.

Eagles have some optionality in 2025.

If things go to hell in 2024, Hurts and AJ can both be traded with cap savings. Slay's contract is finally cuttable. That doesn't even include the results of the 2024 NFL draft.

I like Easton Stick, have since college.  6.65 3 cone is 9.99 ras for QBs.eastonstickvwillgrier.thumb.jpg.e53b44e207c2b6de60e52ae180f9157a.jpg

Should I be under the impression that the Will Grier signing likely means no snaps for Hurts in the preseason?  I’m guessing McKee, Pickett, and Grier each dress for 2 out of the three preseason games and split the snaps somewhat evenly.

Might lean Pickett-heavy in the first preseason game and 1/2 each of McKee/Grier in the last game.

Yep, plus as you pointed out earlier they can just draft Worthy to replace the sack production that Reddick gives you

it's a rotation.

I just point out unorthodox solutions often.

Most importantly,  the Eagles added an expensive new edge when they already had edge spots full.

My "if fast edge works against lumbering giant OT,  then fastest player could work better, and fastest player doesn't cost $20 M a year" THEORY,  is just a THEORY.

I made that clear,  but some people don't know what theories are,  I guess.  Tough luck for me.

Having both Reddick and Huff at edge (in addition to Sweat,  Graham and Nolan)  means the Eagles are spending $20 M more a year than they did last year,  so either the defense is going to have more 240 pound edges,  maybe Reddick and/or Nolan are off ball LBs, or they get rid of the extra very expensive edge they now have.

Reddick   OR   some pick plus the ability to spend $10-20 Million on another player.   People are only talking about Reddick vs some pick,  without talking about being able to save a ton of money this year they could use for other thing.

And it's possible that those QBs are not there when August rolls around.  Pickett seems like "buy low, sell high" if some team has a QB injury or their QB unexpectedly sucks.

I'm going to ignore those 3 backup QBs and act as if they're not there.   There are QBs available that I'd rather have,  who bring more than just below average QB play.  I can get the Eagles udfas who can bring below average QB play, plus versatility -  run catch throw block.

March 28 is Big 12 pro day with a lot of players worth looking at -  John Rhys Plumlee at QB  (also Emory Jones, who might have been interesting to Brian Johnson, his college coach at Floriday) and Johnny Langan is at the Rutgers pro day the same day.

The offseason, minus the draft, has pretty much come into view.  That means, the 2024 roster is coming into view.  As we all know, the draft doesn’t yield instant reliable impact, even in round 1…especially for this franchise.  So, barring a blockbuster trade, I don’t think we can expect any fantastic starters that aren’t on the roster already.

But…only a few questions remain.  The first question isn’t position specific.  The Eagles have a pretty comparable core roster to 2022 and compared to 2023.  Which of those extremes are the real Eagles?

On paper, the Eagles have a very good roster that is handicapped by unquestionably the worst back 7 in the NFL.  Is the front 4 ferocious enough…Hurts Mahomes enough…are the weapons 1999 Rams enough…to compensate for a hideous back 7 so they can win a SB?  We all know the answer is probably no…that’s why the Eagles are tied for 7th best SB odds.  That means the oddsmakers see the Eagles as a very good team, in the conversation and better than 2023…but not someone to put money on making a run.

You don't win with rosters in any sport, but especially football - you win with teams.

Eagles are definitely younger and faster, now whether the new coordinators can use that speed and athleticism effectively . . . . stay tuned.

If you listen to those guys, Theo turns like a submarine. Straight line athlete. You can use him, but theres probably not another level to unlock. He has limitations as a straight line athlete.

All sounded like a very promising prospect who has been held back by a back surgery, and then an ACL. Him, and then Sinnott for his versatility lining up everywhere compares closely athletically and in usage to LaPorta.

Good story. Dallin Holker got caught tresspassing while at Colorado State. Him and his wife would jump the fence when the practice facility was closed and he would have her load the jugs machine for him to get in extra work.

So that's what the kids are calling it nowadays huh?

Why are they so hell bent on trading Reddick? Now that it’s taken this long we will get nothing in return worth his talent.

Seems to be a pure salary cap move. Along with the lingering of a Joe Banner mantra of not giving top extensions to players in their 30’s (beyond Oline)

I would feel bad if Reddick got dealt back to Arizona.

The only reason they pivoted off Reddick is because he wants major money and Howie is probably in conservative mode after how Bradberry played out.

If Reddick was content with his deal he probably just plays out the last year and we don’t sign Huff.

I think John Barchard on Twitter is trying to imply a Jalen Hurts trade because we signed Saquon, traded for Pickett, and signed Grier. I liked Barchard, but he’s being a bit ridiculous with this take

That guy is still around? He used to do a show with Seltzer and had the most obnoxious intro to a show I have ever heard in my entire life. It would immediately piss me off

They're only moving him on their own terms. Sadly, I think he goes for a decent haul.
