Why would you pass for TDs inside the 5 when you have Hurts at QB?

If you look at total TDs scored, Hurts is up there with most top QBs, he just takes advantage of his short yardage running skills (not as fast as Lamar, but much tougher, runs like a power back when he sniffs the end zone).

Why do we assume that each TD is coming from inside the 5 yard line? Why cant we score from a little farther out?

Ok I love the Barkley deal

777 hours to go.

I had a dream last night their first 3 picks were Mitchell, Cooper, and Guyton. First sports related dream I’ve had in a while.

Adam Sandler continues to be a genius. You know at least one of Sweeney or Sprianac are going to end up his love interest. Guy knows how to cast the ladies in his films.

1 good pick and 2 potential busts. Yikes.

That is about the right spot to take Guyton though.  This 1st round stuff is BS.

I wonder if we would consider Jackson Powers-Johnson in the first round?

Usually we won’t pick an interior lineman that high, but JPJ is huge and athletic and powerful. Might they make an exception?

I would like to think the only way we could justify a 1st round OL is if they can swing out to tackle. I really don't like picking in the 1st for the IOL in our situation.

I agree. Further, if it comes to it, most tackles can play guard but few guards can play tackle. Not the 6’9” guys, of course, but shorter guys for sure. When we had an OL of Thomas, Herremans, Jackson, Andrews, and Runyan, all five had been college tackles.

Is it really? I got sucked in to that one.

Looks like I was looking at a regular season stat, he did throw that 1 handed catch TD to DG against the giants in the playoffs

Has one in February too.

A lot of TD passes are in the red zone, quick throws.

Hurts is toward the leaders in big pass plays, his ability to throw isn't an issue, but why take a chance on a Wilson opps when you can just run the ball in?

Notice the handle:

"PGA TUOR”

And the image for the account is a dude in a burqa(?) hitting a golf ball

Yeah that's a meme account.  Movie is still in very early production.  The news of it's very existence is the result of Sandler showing the Shooter McGavin actor the first draft of the script that he's wrote so it's likely still a bit of a ways off and no cast yet.

It’s a big weapon for sure, but I’d feel much better about it if Hurts wasn’t nursing injuries by the end of every season

I dreamed it was the 2nd to last day of high school, and instead of doing my workbooks, I skipped out and bought beer and recreational drugs.

My teacher was disappointed.

Then she ended up at the party too.

Dreams are fun.

Are you talking just defense? Because there's plenty of OL to choose from and Smith at WR and Hurts of course.

If you're just talking defense then yeah it's been awhile. Maddox was decent but if you didn't want to count him it might be Rasul Douglas in 2017.

Yea just defense, my bad I'll edit

Latu has bust written all over him. PAC 12 but also looks so doughy.

Keep an eye on Chop Robinson...

hes not athletic. So hes pretty much a what you see is what you get prospect. Like a big 10 OL. There isnt really any upside left. You hope his technique and size allows him to continue being a double digit sack guy in the NFL. If its not enough, it never will be.

Had 13 sacks too.

Has production + athleticism. Only reason he's not a lock top 10 pick is injury history.

I really do get the Howie philosophy.  We have the worst back 7 in the NFL, but it's also the least important 7 positions in football.

Until proven otherwise, the model is an unstoppable offense and an opportunistic defense.  That primarily comes by investing in the offense and the edge rushers.  I think we have absurdly over-invested in DT over the years in an attempt to re-create what Warren Sapp and Aaron Donald have done as interior disruptors...but that's a rare generational thing that hasn't happened for us, and (with all due respect to Carter) isn't going to happen.

You're correct that this is the model, but that doesn't mean you can just ignore the back 7 like they do. To have an opportunistic defense you need to put in some effort there.

The back 7 when they won the SB included Jenkins, McLeod, bradham, Darby and mills.

Two years ago it was CJGJ, Bradberry (good version), slay, white, edwards.

Last year they had slay and Blankenship.

You don't need superstars at every position, but you can't have garbage which is what they tried last year. The annoying thing is you do have years where they invest there and, shockingly, they go to the Super Bowl. But then you have years like last year (and looking like this year too) where all they do is throw a bunch of crap at the wall and try to see what sticks. They sign reclamation projects and bargain bin players in free agency and hope one of them hits.

Last year it seems like they shared your mindset that the back 7 wasn't important, and they screwed themselves.  Your DL can be great but who cares when the offense just dinks and dunks their way down the field on 10 minute 14 play drives because no one can cover?

The offense needs no more investment right now. Nothing is moving the needle player wise, they have elite talent at every position except TE (and they still have an above average TE). Get a 3WR where they usually draft all their corners and safeties, the mid rounds, and use their top 100 picks on defense

You're talking to Brian Johnson's burner account

This board way overrates RAS. It has limited value in player projections.

also, because he is not athletic as compared to most first round DE picks these days.
