You mean the eye test by armchair analysts with no all-22 and very little understanding as to actual assignments, or blocking schemes, etc? Not to say it's always right, but the eye test is ultimately intuition, and intuition isn't necessarily about whether a player plays as well as expected.

If a player is schemed wide ass open, is it the player that did really well because they made a flashy play? Or is it as expected because they just did their job and the scheme executed well?

If CJ Gardner-Johnson grabs a pick on a ball that's way off the mark because he was out of position to guard a defender, is that a positive play or is it a wash?

These are the kinds of decisions that have to be evaluated well in grades for every single player in the NFL, and if they have a little bit of a rough spot, everyone's like "THEY'RE WRONG" because it doesn't match their perception. Some grades are decent, some aren't, it really just depends.

It just doesn't match the eye test 99% of the time

I would give him this simple challenge then:

Which PFF grade on the Eagles last season didn't match the eye test? With a 99% inaccuracy rate, we should have at least 50 players listed, right?

I didn't even bother to look. Lazy reporting by me.

I feel like this challenge is a wash simply from the normal camera not showing depth safeties at a notable rate.

Yep. No love lost between either; I get Pickett's animus because Tomlin thought Matt Canada was a NFL OC.  A high school would reject his coaching.

Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in 7 years, so can't see why he's so salty, but it's funny to watch from afar.

Must be a competitive game of RPS going on.

Man, we often talk about how injuries derailed Wentz, but man, if Maclin was healthy for his entire career, I think he's an all-time Eagle and they never let him leave. He exploded on to the scene his Freshman year.

@HazletonEagle update to my message.

Touchback coming out to the 30 is still significant. I hope this passes and the KO becomes a fun play to watch again.

Howie takes the Andy Reid top dog center seat.

Surprised it's not Kelce. His jersey was selling like crazy in 2023 with the kelly green

Maclin was instructive on speed on tape vs speed at the combine.

His tape says he’s one of the fastest players in football.

His combine says he has mediocre speed.

When it came to the NFL, he was never actually a speed guy. The combine was correct. His 4.48 speed was plenty fast enough to get open but not fast enough to be a dynamic, DeSean Jackson type deep threat or run after catch guy.

Kellen Moore should've been in the head coach photo

That injury is basically exactly how he blew out the knee when he was here.    Then again, without the injury, he likely never falls to the Eagles where he did in the first round.

Butterfly effect.   No one knows what things would be like when a variable is changed.

Can someone explain to me exactly why there's no secret that the Eagles will be the "HOME" team, meanwhile, the opponent is completely wide open (Obviously, it can only be an opponent that's on the schedule for the Eagles Home schedule?   So:  Giants, Cowboys, Washingteam - also 100% change these are out as they won't want to make it a division game, that seems unfair, honestly....   Leaving only:  Cleveland, Atlanta, Carolina, Jacksonville, Green Bay or Pittsburgh.

If I were a betting man, I'd eliminate Atlanta and Carolina as well, since this is the first game down there... the NFL will want a more 'marquee' matchup.   As such, Pittsburgh currently seems unlikely given their recent demise.   That makes the favorites Green Bay, Jacksonville and Cleveland.  All playoff teams last year.  And frankly, an AFC-NFC matchup likely makes the most sense, so that means Cleveland or Jacksonville.   If I were to guess... given Jacksonville's London connection being so strong, I think Cleveland is the choice.

yeah,  you missed the joke part of it.  the use of the word "detective" was the joke part.   Doesn't really matter.

It's the bribed to lie thing. When there is rich dad or rich relative,  you're much more likely to find instances of bribed to lie.  You can assume it's there.

Yeah thats it, the people who draft players listen to the talking heads when it comes to draf picks, who cares what our area scout scouting department and GM say lets make our pics based off what kiper herbstreit and boomer say.

Because im sure those guys need money from jet blue guy to say nice things about zach wilson...😒

The 35 would be too far.  That's where teams start that kick the ball out of bounds... so you'd just be asking teams to try coffin corner type kickoffs all game, because end zone or out of bounds results are the same.   So, if you hit a pop up kickoff to the 5-10, you might be able to pin the team back and get some good field position out of the kick.   That said... wasn't the game more dangerous on kickoffs, according to their research?   So, why bring it back like this?   Seems that 'health' is only so high of a priority.        It's a priority... until it isn't.

The NFL has too much pride to just adopt the XFL KR rules, which is stupid because its not like they havent ever adopted rules, technology etc from other leagues.

Hopefully calmer heads prevail and they can figure out how to make KR part of the game again.

And Joe Douglas looking like they werent expecting him so just awkwardly stuck him on the side ...😄

Do you read or listen to any draft outlets online? How did you not think you would see not athletic takes? It’s what literally everyone else knows about him.

He's a plus athlete, he’s just not a freak of nature athlete. 6’5” 260 and runs a 4.64, has good bend and balance.

Looks like he's quite excited to be there... if you know what I mean
