I'm still not sold on Fangino's scheme but much is to be seen with him running the show, rather than a student of his defense. If he's legit, my next question is how long can he be the guy at DC? He's 65 years old, no spring chicken but also not on his death bed. He looks like an old 65 however. I never would have guessed Steve Spagnolo was just about the same age being 64. Jim Johnson was brought in at 58 and gave the Eagles 10 solid years but you knew it was time later in his tenure. If the Eagles go all out in bringing in guys who fit the Fangino defense, how long will he be here running his scheme? Is he a 2-year stop gap DC before they hope to find the next great thing? I just hope they bring players who can play in any scheme so if Fangino doesn't work out and they bring in another DC with a different philosophy, they aren't gutting and rebuilding because the players don't fit what they want to run.

I would guess you would hope there's someone learning underneath him that hopefully can do it better that the other guys around the league. Basically he would be mentoring like mayo just got for the pats.

Or since he lives in the area maybe he keeps a role as a consultant to where he can help during the week on what needs to be adjusted

A big positive with Fangio is he’s already flamed out as a HC and there are player relation concerns from Miami, so if this year really goes well then he may not have better option open up. Hopefully he’s here as long as he wants to coach, which is impossible to tell. Wade Phillips is still going at 76, Dick Lebeau was Titans DC at 79.

So far the guys we’ve brought in are guys we’ve liked for awhile. Huff is a Reddick/Nolan type, CJGJ would fit any of our D coordinators since Howie returned to office, and who knows what Devin White is.  Wasn’t Gannon a Fangio derivative coach as well?

Not to be that guy but... it's "Fangio"

"Fangino" sounds like what bullies probably called him when he was 10.

Joe Kasper could be that guy

Looks like the Eagles still have about 34 million in cap space and that includes nearly all the major contracts besides CJs unless I am missing something. Say 10mil for rookies and 4-5 for CJ and Eagles still have around 20 million in cap space. Sure seems like there's another significant move to be made.

The internet is hard ...

My goodness, James Bradberry was really terrible. He ranks 101st, and he was supposed to be a starter, which makes him probably dead last for starters.

I mean, I know he was bad, but here it is in black & orange.

I never knew I was spelling it wrong. Thought it was Fangino this whole time. Gross, am I like one of those Asante Samuels guys now? Forgive me.

Haason trade will free up a lot next year, and I hope they extend Devonta this offseason and not next due to inflating WR market every year, plus he could go nuts next year and cost us 10+m$ more a season. Then Simmons

Reddick trade before June 1st doesn’t free up anything.

Steelers signed Quez Watkins lol.

Reddick trade is only $1M in savings.

I still think they will do Devonta this year but will pick up the 5th year first, then extend him off that. Gives you an additional "affordable" year

wow, I thought there would be some pushback on it. That's sad.

Don't be surprised if they keep a large chunk to roll-over to next year. They are currently in the bottom third of the league in 2025 cap space.

Well there was a post in here that said scoring was down. Guess if you can't tackle it makes that number easier to go back up

How much would that free up if they do end up trading Reddick? and yeah I hope they extend Devonta sooner rather than later. Seeing some of these WR contracts this offseason like Jerry Jeudy's makes you wonder how much Smitty is going to get.. probably around 25/yr

nvm I see Reddick would be 1mil in savings

Another opportunity for totally arbitrary calls.

I can't recall how Howie typically handles the cap from year to year. Does he usually roll-over a lot of the cap like this?

Yep, posted that last night. Nothing like making defenders second guess every move they make now. Am I landing on the QB too hard, am I swiveling my hips, am I actually behind the guy?

They are ruining the game of football.

That number is going to go way up. Slay and Bradberry will get us 13M back with post june 1st cuts next year.

Reddick being traded this year will save 14M next year.

Brown’s contract can be restructured and save 10M.

If the Eagles cut or trade Sweat it saves 12M.

Rollover 10M and that puts us close to 70M.
