So how exactly are they supposed to tackle someone running away from them? Even if they target the back there's a chance they miss and grab ahold of the waist. Seems like legs are the only option until the league bans that because of leg and ankle injuries

How much would that free up if they do end up trading Reddick? and yeah I hope they extend Devonta sooner rather than later. Seeing some of these WR contracts this offseason like Jerry Jeudy's makes you wonder how much Smitty is going to get.. probably around 25/yr

nvm I see Reddick would be 1mil in savings

1m this year, 14m next year

What a crappy backup plan that ends up being.

They had a specific explanation of what constitutes a few days ago. Basically, you can still pull someone to the ground, you just can’t piggy back on them where you stop using your legs

Only option now is a rugby scrum, which is only bad when Eagles use it in short yardage situations.

Are they supposed to let go if they end up getting dragged? Lol

What message is the NFL sending the NFLPA? The NFLPA sent the following memo that clearly states they don't want it. Countless players have said they don't want it. The NFL is pretty much ignoring their players union, the players themselves and everyone else in disagreement with the rule. The only ones for the rule seem to be the owners.

While the players have consistently advocated for health and safety advancements, any prohibition on the "hip-drop tackle” technique is unfair to players and unrealistic to implement. It places defensive players in an impossible position by creating indecision in the mind of any tackling player, puts officials in an unreasonable situation that will result in inconsistent calls on the field, and confuses our fans.

We call on the NFL to reconsider implementing a rule prohibiting the "hip drop tackle.”

I like that a lot. Eventually it’ll just be 3 challenges

Hopefully they approve pushed back trade deadline.

We're talking combine and pro day numbers,  right?   Not the particular RAS formula,  right?   Sparq was better than RAS,  but sparq is gone from the internet,  replaced by the inferior RAS.    Whichever,   I'm in favor of objective data incorporating combine and pro day data.    If we could get tons and tons of gps data for every college player,  and if someone could make sense of all of that,  I'd be in favor of that.

We live in a bribed to lie country,  and ras tends to prevent the bribers and the liars from winning all the time.   I'll take whatever I can get when it comes to objective data,  and the opinions of people on tv are intentionally bad, bribed to lie.

Zach Wilson was the #2 pick in the draft and everyone on tv said he was great.  Some detectives were able to figure out that guy was the nephew of the owner of Jet Blue airlines.  The people on tv were bribed to lie, and said he was great,  and he was awful.  I said this before the draft,  bribed to lie,  overhyped rich kid.

I push forward the closest to objective data that's out there right now,  and that's ras.  I also push forward pff, which is kind of like objective data.  It isn't,  but NFL teams pay for the service,  so,  I'll take what I can get.

The opinions of the experts on all Philly sports teams that are found here ain't great.  I'm generally going to go with the closest thing to objective data.  I like to sort through data and I'm good at it.

That number is going to go way up. Slay and Bradberry will get us 13M back with post june 1st cuts next year.

Reddick being traded this year will save 14M next year.

Brown’s contract can be restructured and save 10M.

If the Eagles cut or trade Sweat it saves 12M.

Rollover 10M and that puts us close to 70M.

Sweat isn't under contract in 2025.

Slay/Bradberry is $4.6 and $4.7 with post June 1st

Obviously there will be moves to made that will affect it one way or the other and I'm not at all trying to suggest they are in any type of cap trouble. I just wouldn't be surprised if they roll over a decent chunk instead of using as much as they can in 2024.

Sweat’s contract voids on Feb 23rd next year. OTC says it saves 11M when it voids.

OTC also shows Slay at $6.3 and Bradberry at $6.2 with post june cuts next season. Am I missing something?

So what is Logan Wilson supposed to do here?

This isn't even hip drop lol. He grabbed him by the thighs. This is all so stupid.

With the amount of times refs screw up this should be helpful

Sounds like he's supposed to dig his feet into the ground to keep Andrews from moving

Well it's a good thing the Eagles invest in LB who are always in the right position, who are physically imposing and know how to tackle. They hate the react and chase guys🙄

That didn't even look that bad.

I thought hip drop was where they wrap and then use body weight to basically drop to the ground pulling them down with them

These guys are breathing a sigh of relief

OTC and Spotrac just disagree about Slay and Bradberry.

With Sweat, I'm not sure what they are trying to imply. If the contract automatically voids then all the dead cap accelerates. He has no base salary or anything else that would be "savings".

This is another example. I guess they just want the defender to let the offensive player continue to drag them as dead weight.

Why not?

Hope that clears it up for everyone
