Ask Duce Staley what he feels about the rule. He was the poster boy for checking the box.

I addressed that in my original post. I'm not arguing there aren't sham interviews just to fulfill the rule. I'm not even saying it's a good rule.

I'm saying pointing at Brian Johnson specifically and just assuming he's only getting interviewed because of the Rooney Rule is incorrect. The Falcons interviewed Ejiro Evero, Steve Wilks, Anthony Weaver, Antonio Pierce, Aarron Glenn and Raheem Morris before Brian Johnson. There clearly isn't a reason to give Johnson an interview just to check a box. If the news that virtual interviews don't even count towards the rule anyway, it just further cements that point.

Was Sirianni seriously flipping the bird to the Chiefs during the freaking Super Bowl?

Wow.  I just can’t anymore.

Can't tell

Looked like he was just joking around... much ado about nothing there.  The bigger issue is that this team's offense was allergic to any type of sustained rushing attack and the middle of the field in the passing game.   THOSE issues are way bigger than how he interacted during a review timeout during the Super Bowl when literally nothing was happening while they were waiting around.    Also way bigger than his annoying yelling at the crowd at Arrowhead after the Chiefs' game this past season.  Those can be annoying personality traits, but the issues on the field speak to his professional qualifications, or lack there of.

Is it racist of me to say I know which one I'd be picking?

I'm not sure what kind of a racist you are, but I think it's above board to prefer either -  it's like a Woody Harrelson / Wesley Snipes combo.

Definitely appears to be the case, based on Hurts reaction.

Here you are on the NFL's biggest stage and you're clowning the opposing team like a child when provided the opportunity.

This is NOT the type of character you want leading your team.

This is what made me hate Nicks sideline antics full stop. There’s no point in taunting the Chiefs sideline during a challenged call in the middle of the f’ing Super Bowl.

no you don't.

Other coaches won't work for you when you punish success.

Only a loser would call this season a success.

No. You can't put anyone under center.

Interesting.  Explain more.

He was signaling first down. If I remember correctly this was the Smith challenge that ended up getting overturned anyway and made him look like even more of an idiot

Perhaps an unpopular opinion:

Dean and Davis suck.

Well that’s not as bad.  You still don’t taunt an opposing team before halftime in the Super Bowl.  You’re the head coach of an NFL football team - act like one.

What do you mean? Starting at 10-1 and a 2 game advantage over ANY team in the NFL just to fall to the 5th seed and get embarrassed by a 9 win team in the wildcard round is bad?

It’s just stupid and serves absolutely no purpose. At worst you are motivating them to play harder against you. At best you look like an idiot because you lost the challenge.

😂 he gives zero Fs

I just had a long post about the Rooney Rule and it probably got lost in the rambling.

It comes down to the natural progression of players involved in the sport. The more we see black players retire and get in to coaching, the more we will eventually see become head coaches. Half the reason there are so many white coaches are because they weren't good enough to ever play the sport but had the brain for it or they were good enough until a certain point and the only way they could stick around was to coach.

DeMeco Ryans, Jarrod Mayo and Antonio Pierce are perfect examples of NFL players who are now coaching. Nick Sirianni is a good example of the other side. He was good enough to play D3 ball but that's it. For him to stick around after college, coaching was his answer. Same goes for Sean McVay, Sean McDermott, Zac Taylor. All played at some level but weren't cut out to be NFL players...so coaching is the way to stay in the game.

Joey Porter, Aaron Glenn, Al Harris are all next in line. You're going to see an influx of players we watched in the 2000s become head coaches.

We passed on a pro bowl safety to draft Davis all because of the "philosophy" of this regime.

To be fair Hamilton probably would've blown in this system anyhow.

Davis is an overweight JAG and Dean is an injury prone Smurf.

Just joking around isn't an excuse and you can't dismiss this type of behavior. Perception is key as well, if Lurie is so obsessed with optics than this is a problem.

It's bad enough that a majority of NFL fans see Eagles fans as neanderthals, and actions like this just solidify their argument.

The fact that you have your 25yo QB1 trying to get his 42yo HC coach to focus is a problem.

Everyone needs to chill about Davis.

A.  The jury is still out on Davis

B. Everyone and I mean everyone loved the pick at the time. (Local media, national media and most fans)

I've posted about it several times, but when your 2nd year QB has to be the mature one and hold back your head coach that's a problem.

Siri yelling at Chiefs fans this year, being overly cocky about the Brotherly Shove and other situations where he should shut his mouth and be professional and give standard coach speak show that he is too immature.  He doesn't know how to handle success, and clearly doesn't know how to fix things when they start going badly.

I hope this is the case, still uncalled for and gives the other team ammunition.

I hated the pick. What do you think the ceiling is for Jordan Davis? IMO, at best, he plays 50% of the snaps and gets double teamed while occasionally making a tackle.

Give me the All-Pro safety who plays 100% of the snaps and the picks used to trade up instead of Davis.

Or, the media are wrong as is often the case.

I know I shouldn’t make comments about grammar but I can’t resist this one.

I salute you for saying media are. Bravo.
