how is Raheem morris a favorite? I would've guessed Mufasa would be one of the front runners

Crappy team for a while that should win the division this year. COTY usually goes to those types.

I’d put a few dollars on Stefanski at 66/1, except I don’t think Deshaun Watson will ever re-emerge as a quality NFL QB

Has a back to back COTY ever happened before? Doesn’t seem likely in todays NFL.

Everything was down last season and that's a big reason why we squeaked out wins early and lost games late in the season. Everybody on the team (including the coaches) needs to perform better this season. But just because players had lower grades last season does not mean they can't improve them this season. I tend to believe in Smith and Brown as blockers. As I stated earlier, WRs, especially ones that play a lot of snaps, are very unlikely to get a run blocking grade all that much higher on the season. I bet there are less than 10 starting WRs (that played at least 75% of the team's offensive snaps) that have a run blocking grade over 60.

what I noticed what that - except for Julio Jones - ALL of the RBs and ALL of the WRs had run blocking grades below 60.   I didn't and don't have access to the full PFF data,  hadn't seen those numbers before. Wasn't trying to single out Brown and Smith,  except that Brown was the top PFF player on the Eagles,  yet his run blocking was so low, so I typed that because I thought it was interesting,  but they all were like that which was the point.

Last year,  I made 2 points fairly often.  1)  Brown and Smith are playing too many snaps.  I did not like, and do not like, WRs to play 90% or more of the snaps,  and last year,  Brown and Smith were the WR duo who played the most snaps in the NFL.  2) I wanted the Eagles to put someone in the backfield who could run block and who was big.  I wasn't looking at pff run blocking scores and pointing to them,  I didn't have them,  but what I saw was a lack of run blocking.  I thought the solution was to add someone who could do that.   I was mentioning VanSumeren.  I thought that Cam Jurgens,  the year before,  should be on the field as a run blocker.

This year,  there are like 10 LBs for 3 LBs spots - 1 OLB,  2 ILB - and size-wise for blocking,  they're what you want.  Most if not all had something good in high school that contained blocking and also some college offense / blocking.   I saw it as a lack of size in the backfield.  Looking at PFF,  it seems like it was a lack of size in the backfield plus all the RBs and WRs that the Eagles do or did have were bad at run blocking.  The low PFF run blocking grades point to a problem with run blocking.

I've been looking for players to draft or udfa who could be on the field run blocking,   I've mentioned Tylan Grable many times.  High school QB, High school basketball star, state champions,  won the combine at OT.  6'6 306 4.95 40,  36.5 vert.   Was a blocking TE in college between QB and OT.  FCS 2nd team AA.  Honorable mention all big 12.  He seems to have an interesting package of skills and size to be on the field as a blocker.   He's day 3,   I'd probably be overdrafting him in the 5th.  An extra big blocking guy who can do more stuff.

Johnny "offense" Langan.  At Rutgers,  the big school the next state over, he was the starting QB as a freshman,  then became "offense" running, catching, throwing, blocking,  lined up all over the place.  His final year he was TE,  and he's about the same size as Stoll.  He's udfa level,  but he could theoretically take Stolls spot,  do what Stoll did, in addition to a lot of other things.   6'2 245 and a great power runner,  drags the pile 10 yards.  His run blocking at Rutgers as an Inline TE was great,  he was doing some mauling.   there's a youtube about his blocking in one game.

Hey great speech Abe Lincoln

Serious question: is Random Regular a troll account?

Howie takes the swings.

Holy smokes, off topic, but the news about the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore is unbelievable.

PFF with Ben Solak mock draft. Eagles select Terrion Arnold at 22.

Why does he have to make this difficult? Jurgens was picked, with the help of Jason Kelce, to be Kelce's successor. He's not a RG. This doesn't have to be a secret.

This could be the day we sign Justin Simmons.

You'd want a higher hit rate, but the strategy makes sense, a top player has far more value than a bunch of backups/marginal starters b/c you can obtain the later for low cost in free agency and off the street.

Disagree.  I realize Jurgens was picked to be a center, but he's a really good guard.  If you move him from G to C you weaken two positions.  It may still be the best option, but If I were Siri, I'd explore a few options before making a decision.

Watching the video of the incident this morning, kind of mad how the ship just kept going straight on.  I can't believe it was intentional, but also a pretty avoidable incident from a long way away.

One Siri content (just listening  to it now) is we aren't giving anything away about scheme yet, so it's not ideal to read too much into it right now.  Esp with the draft coming

I dunno. Can someone run a a RAS compare for a Random Reglar and troll so that we can get to the bottom of this?

He was not really good this past season, moving him to center like he's supposed to is the best move he isn't built to be a guard.
