Disagree.  I realize Jurgens was picked to be a center, but he's a really good guard.  If you move him from G to C you weaken two positions.  It may still be the best option, but If I were Siri, I'd explore a few options before making a decision.

I don't think he was that great od a guard snd he's definitely better suited for center given his size.  I think he's going to be a really good/great center.  I doubt they could do better than him at center but they likely could do better at guard.

Do onside kicks no longer exist or would they just revert to the old formation when a team wants to attempt one?

They work the same as last year, this wouldn’t have any effect on them

Maybe there is a tiny thought of putting Dickerson at Center.  I don't think it will happen but maybe they are contemplating it a little.

He played Center in college and when he was drafted there was chatter of him replacing Kelce just like when they drafted Jurgens.

I know Dickerson at Guard has worked out really well and 99% sure Jurgens will be the C but maybe Jurgens hasn't looked all that good at C.  Just because Kelce helped draft him doesn't mean he's a lock to be good.  Maybe he's struggled at C.

Maybe Siri would have to check with Stoutland and Moore to make that decision? Didn't they basically strip him of any say in the offense and defense?

Also let's be honest when it comes to offensive line I'm sure whatever stout says goes

Don't think so.

No Fun League

In the event a team wants to attempt an onside kick, it will have to inform officials of its intent and would then be allowed to use the NFL's traditional formation. No surprise onside kicks will be allowed.

Steen can play guard; Steen can also play tackle. Cam can play center; Cam can also play guard. Dickerson can play guard; Dickerson can also still play center.

What happens if we end up taking Jackson-Powers Johnson. "Why did Sirianni lie about Cam getting the starting job handed to him in March?”

There’s zero reason to confirm any of that. We have a bunch of guys in play for multiple positions.

If we don’t go with Jurgens I think we would draft a big center.

Howie made a point about how he wanted Kelce to have two big bodies next to him to compensate for his lack of size.

I think it can work either way — you could have the small guy at RG and a big guy at C and RT. This would be kind of a reverse of the old way, where your pulling guard was on the left side and your mauler was the RG.

In this draft there are a couple guys who would fit the mold of a bigger center, some of whom have significant upside with plus athleticism.

Ultimately though I think the job goes to Jurgens.

Not after what they just paid him. Kelce was the highest paid C at $14M per. Dickerson got paid to be a G.

Jurgens looked great at center when we saw him there in preseason and garbage time as a rookie.  I don't think there is any reason to think he won't be good at center.  Moving Dickerson over when he's already established himself as one of the beat young guards in the league wpupd be a mistake.

A whole giant Week

They’ll move it back another week next year. They should’ve moved it after week 10 or 11.

That's dumb

The only way to make it "fair”is the team that plays it is coming off a Thursday game. Can’t have a team play in 3 days after a Sunday. And I think it’s too late in the season for bye weeks.

Re Center/Jurgens/Steen...

It's before the draft, so Howie and Siri are not going to make any unnecessary, definitive statements.

But is he a Russian troll or a Dallas troll?

Nah.  Jurgens is a natural center who was playing out of position at guard.

But, that comment isn't the genesis of my assessment.   It is the culmination of all his interactions with media, fans, etc.  He's an emotional guy, but he's no tactician.  And he puts way too much emphasis on 'competitive advantage'.  Funny thing, the best coaches don't worry about competitive advantage like that, and to just scheme up a great play and execute the crap out of it, so that it doesn't matter if the opponent knows what's coming or not... they still can't stop it.   (I give you the Power Sweep from Vince Lombardi as exhibit A.  He made his reputation on that play... and actually taught exactly what they were doing on the play, while still destroying oppositions with it.)

Imagine Sirianni at the chalkboard.

That was 70 years ago, the game has changed a bit since then.

My guess is there will be two Thursday games the week prior and the Christmas matchup will be between two teams that played on that Thursday double header.

It will be the Cowboys coming off of a game Sunday the week before probably against the Eagles who just played on Monday night.

Why does he have to make this difficult? Jurgens was picked, with the help of Jason Kelce, to be Kelce's successor. He's not a RG. This doesn't have to be a secret.

It's about the competitive advantage that really isn't there lol

Everyone knows he's the new center but lets act like he isn't
