Reddick, 22 and 50 for pick 4. 50 and 22 are worth 1180 combined. Pick 4 is worth 1800. No idea what a player value is in the trade. Probably not nearly enough.

However, Atlanta at 8 is worth 1400. If the Falcons are still intrigued by Reddick. Would you trade 22, 50 and Reddick to jump to 8?

Dallas Turner, Rome Odunze, Quinyon Mitchell, Brock Bowers, Malik Nabers, Terrion Arnold are all Blue Chippers who should be available at 8.

No to both. There's not a player there that would be more valuable to the Eagles than Reddick and two picks. They'd probably end up using it on an edge who won't be as good as Reddick to begin with.

Well that doesn't sound like a resolution is anytime soon.

I don't understand what he is implying with that last sentence. Is he just stating the obvious or is he suggesting Eagles are unwilling to even give him a bump/restructure?

I think just stating the obvious

Though I think Reddick will hold out

It's a 3-way catch-22.

Reddick -- "I want $22M+"

Howie -- "We'll work your deal so you can get there with incentives"

Reddick -- "No way.  I've outplayed my deal and I want the $$$ guaranteed.  Trade me to someone who will pay it if you can't"

Every other NFL team -- "We're interested, but if we have to sign him at that $$$, we can only give you a 3rd or4th round pick as compensation"

If those are the circumstances then he'll have to play out the final year of his deal.  If not, I still say do it as a post-June 1 trade where the cap savings are much more.

A lot depends on what the Eagles think of Steen and where they think he projects best.

If they like him at guard, OT is in play.  Mims, Guyton, maybe Fautanu should all be well within striking distance.
If they like him at OT, Powers-Johnson and that kid Barton from Duke are going to be in play too.

Barton is exactly the Howie kind of pick to expect.  He could play all five spots on the offensive line.  Probably projects more as a guard or center but he's got OT experience.

I have a feeling the Vikings are going to be the favorite to get it.

There's just no market for Reddick and I do wonder how much the Eagles actually wanted to trade him and how much of this was a charade to prove that to him.

Looks like Kelce might get poached by ESPN to replace RG3 in MNF crew. Said Amazon, CBS, NBC are in pursuit. Notable FOX isn’t because they spent all their money on Brady who probably won’t be half as good as Kelce as an analyst.

RG3 is dreadful.  I just wonder how well Jason can control his, um, salty language, and whether I want him to.

I don't blame teams for not wanting to give a 2 for Reddick AND pay him 25M+/Y.

That's why the trade deadline is the time to do it. Teams are more likely to give up picks and won't worry about paying half his salary.

Have you looked at the kid from Yale, Kiran Amegadjie?

I think he would be a good candidate for either OG or OT. 6’4” 320 and supposedly very athletic. Missed a bunch of time between COVID, injury, and not starting to play until he was a high school sophomore. So, raw, but big potential.

A buddy of mine played for Yale back in the day is a bit of a booster, and keeps in contact with the athletic department. Had a lot of good things to say about Kiran.

Seems like he’ll be a 3rd round pick who might slip into the 2nd round because of his upside.

All I could see of him was, I think, against Morgan State. Hard to tell how good his opponent was, which looked like not very. Third round seems wildly optimistic, but what do I know?

I think Reddick wants and would only agree to a new deal/restructure that would pay him in the area of $30M per year and the Eagles have no interest in paying him that much.  So unless Reddick is willing to come down on his price and Eagles aren't able to get the return on a trade they want then he will have to play for his current contracted amount this season unless he's willing to commit to a holdout.

If he stays, I think it'll be on a new deal. I don't think it's impossible he plays on the current number, but him going into the season with Huff making more than him doesn't sound like the best scenario. I don't think Reddick is a bad guy, so I don't think he'll start trouble, but he certainly won't be a happy camper.

Except he wanted a new deal last offseason too

Holdouts don't make sense when you're pushing 30. Leaving real money on the table when you might only get a one year deal the next season.

I don't get this with players. Reddick has outplayed his contract for sure but he agreed to the contract. If he underperformed would he agree to a paycut? No.

Whoa he signed somewhere before the draft. Unheard of.

If he underperformed he'd get $0 because he would get cut.

Players also take pay cuts all the time. Sweat just did.

But he would still get all the money he was guaranteed.

Speaking of the Panthers, if Jake Rosenberg wants an organization he can move up in so he can be a GM, just go to the Panthers. That place is a complete mess.

He will just be on a delay.

It isn’t his choice.  He is under contract for this year.  When and if he is moved is at Howie’s discretion.  Howie rewarded him with a rich contract coming off what he got in compensation in his second contract with the biggest hit to the team being this year.  The Eagles take a bigger hit in 2025 with a post June 1 trade already facing the Kelce and Cox hits in 2025 and some retirement hit from Graham then too.  Not much of a savings in 2024.  Now a one year extension for 2025 would spread those hits to 2026 and 2027 but doesn’t sound like Reddick is willing to do that for an amount Howie would pay.

Sure but he has nothing guaranteed left on his contract.

I don't think its wrong for NFL players to ask for more money when they outperform their contract when NFL teams have the power to not honor the full contract if they simply don't want to. If contracts were fully guaranteed like NBA I'd feel differently.

Agreed.

If teams can cut players, then players should have the opposite power if they're clearly outperforming their deals.

I'd imagine many of us go above and beyond the tasks our jobs ask us to do. Any one of us could also be fired and replaced at the drop of a hat. I've never understood why we're expected to feel a certain way about NFL players because they can get cut, or they are out performing their multi-million dollar contract.

That's not going to help Reddick at all
