Biggest news of the non-playing season.

Eli Ricks has ditched 39 and moving to 23. That's a legit CB #. Big things coming for him now.

Rick Lavato has given up his 45 to Devin White and moved to 49.

Time for a Pickett jersey anyway

It's an interesting move for a player who's been an Eagle for 8 years to give up his number for a guy who likely is here for 1 year.

JK Dobbins was just medically cleared. The only depth behind Saquon is Kenny Gainwell. I wonder if Howie would take a chance on him to be his backup. He has lead dog traits if anything were to happen to Saquon.

I wouldnt say no, but Id only say yes if the draft doesnt provide us a RB2. At this point, Im ok with waiting.

$$$

Hes a long snapper. He probably made his annual salary giving that number to him.

Top 65 is pretty premium.

#22 is worth #65, #66, and #67 --- so is the combo of #50 and #53

Nobody is expecting to find a stud at #65. Outside of kickers and punters, nobody realistically expects the 65th pick to be a day 1 starter. The expectations should be depth with the potential to develop into a starter. I also think you underestimate the value the Eagles put on a  6th offensive lineman that can play all over. I think the fact that the Eagles let Driscoll go to the Dolphins for a cheap 1-year deal shows that they feel Steen is already the better all-around backup and likely has more upside in developing into a starter.

All in all, 65 is not "premium." Find me a draft where somebody's top 50 prospect list includes 50 "premium" players.

Some why did the Phils get ppd?

Is there a "super premium" category?
What are the categories below "premium" ?

If there are 2 categories,  round 3 belongs with round 1,  and would be considered premium.   If there are 3 or more categories,  say premium, quality, and ordinary picks,  round 3 is quality and round 1 is premium.

I’d hate to see Howie’s face when you break the news to him

I really hope WAS does not take Daniels; if he’s healthy he’s going to be a headache to play against twice a year.

Philly teams don't have great luck with Speights'

It's a 3-way catch-22.

Reddick -- "I want $22M+"

Howie -- "We'll work your deal so you can get there with incentives"

Reddick -- "No way.  I've outplayed my deal and I want the $$$ guaranteed.  Trade me to someone who will pay it if you can't"

Every other NFL team -- "We're interested, but if we have to sign him at that $$$, we can only give you a 3rd or4th round pick as compensation"

If those are the circumstances then he'll have to play out the final year of his deal.  If not, I still say do it as a post-June 1 trade where the cap savings are much more.

If the trade offer comes after the draft and you aren’t getting a 2nd round pick then you might as well just have him play out his contract and take the comp pick.

It doesn't really matter how you break it down, #65 is not a position every team covets. Obviously the 1st round gives you a chance to pick a player that has yet to be passed over by every team. At #65, that player has been passed over twice by every team. There isn't any option year on the rookie contract. It's just not that special of a spot to pick. It's clearly better than #66 and everything after, but to claim the "top 65 is premium" is peculiar and just so happens to include the spot Steen was drafted in an argument about whether or not a premium pick was used to draft him. In other words, what a co-inky-dink!

Would have liked to take a chance on him in the later rounds but can't see that happening now with 4 QBs on the roster already

I don’t think anything we’ve done would prevent us from bringing in a 5th guy. We’ll keep 3 on the roster and stash 1 on the PS, so really we’d only be cutting 1 player — most likely Grier.

Except if the Eagles would rather not pay Reddick $15 Million next year.

If that were the case they would take what they could get for him before the 2024 draft.

we're just arguing over words.  I would argue that with the first 3 rounds you would have a reasonable expectation or hope that the player becomes a starter.

The Eagles lost 2 RGs, one moved to Center, the other left. I would think the Eagles should be looking at Right Guards or players who can play RG.   Steen presumably is the week 1 starter at RG.  But last year there was a backup, Opeta, and this year there is not so I would think there probably will be through the draft.   And there's also no Driscoll-like swing tackle.

The key words are "hope" and "becomes." I doubt many expect a 3rd rd pick to start right away.

I agree that the Eagles will probably use one of their first 3 picks on an IOL. But I disagree about there being no Driscoll. I believe Steen is currently that guy. If he develops into a full time starter, they will probably find another versatile guy to develop through that role.
