Haven’t been this against a trade, especially considering the return, since the DJax/Shady debacle. Not on that level but that’s the last one I can remember being this discontent with.

Were you pissed immediately when the Eagles signed Huff?

Or were you pissed when the Eagles restructured Sweat?

Because you knew then that the most expected outcome was that Reddick goes.  And he went.

Jets could be reaaaaaally bad in 2026.

Well they didn't trade for a 2027 pick which is what a bad 2026 would result in.

If Bryce Huff isn't the ascending stud talent the Eagles expect him to be, then Howie should be fired. He never will be, but he should be. Especially if Reddick goes on to continue his production of a double digit sack guy for the coming few years.

And if they draft an edge in round 1 it will be infuriating. That will mean they used their best pick and their top free agent signing to fill a hole they created themselves. That's horrible roster building. And people wonder why the defense always sucks.

(I would have done this trade too).

High time preference is a sign of stupidity…

Jets over/under +9.5, seems like a good bet

What really confuses me though is why they don't make players just play out the remainder of their contracts anymore. Get him a good year, get him a lot of sacks, let him walk. Would he have been ineligible for high comp picks due to his age or something?

Also it’s kinda concerning the Jets of all teams let a younger Huff leave just to trade assets and probably give more money to an older Reddick. Something feels fishy about that unless the Jets are just really dumb which is very possible.

Of all the good moves Howie made this offseason, I think this is a bad one. Time will tell.

Huff has yet to prove to be a full time pass rusher. I was fine letting Sweat go. If we weren’t trying to compete this year then I’m totally fine with it. As of now our front 7 is extremely suspect and all we’ve done to address the back half is CJGJ. Not sure it’s possible but our defense might be even worse than last year.

Horrendous trade

Decent trade.

but I get why the Eagles fans here are pissed.

They didn't realize that the Eagles had one too many expensive edges the second they got Huff.

Just didn't occur to them.  And they didn't understand it when it was explained to them.

So,  now,  they're angry.

Huff is an upgrade over Reddick.  Or he's not.  But you don't get both.

Considering this past season + the last 15 years I’m going to say the Jets are just dumb.

I think that's the opposite of horrible roster building to sign a young ascending player to a deal that could be very good value for the Eagles (like the deal they signed Reddick and Hargrave to) and also drafting a a young player on a rookie deal that it would be to sign Reddick to a new deal to pay $30M per year for a guy turning 30 in September.

The Bradberry signing shook Howie. The Eagles are known for over correcting and this offseason is basically that. Haven't signed a player over 27 to a multi year deal. After the Bradberry signing Howie will go 3+ years before signing a player 29 or 30 to big money again.

The pass rush was fine. There was zero reason with an improvement in D coordinator to spend the majority of their offseason focusing on that aspect of the team above all other areas.

The Jets have not made the playoffs since 2010. They are a poorly run franchise. You want to trade with them.

Maybe the Eagles like Nolan Smith??

That's a fun one.   Here's another one.

"I'll gladly pay you tomorrow for a hamburger today. " - Wimpy.

This wasn't a 'good' deal.  This was what happens when you back yourself into a corner.  A 2026 3rd rounder, that could become a 2nd rounder.. is equivalent to a 2025 4th rounder, that could become a 3rd.   Or a 2024 5th rounders, that could become a 4th.    That's not a great deal by any measure.  This trade being 'good' comes down 100% to what Bryce Huff does here.   If he exceeds his numbers from last year while he's here, this is a good trade.   If, on the other hand, Huff regresses to his mean of his career, aka matching what he did his first 3 years in the league, then this is a horrific trade.

The Jets got a good player, who will make plays for them immediately.   We have to hope that the Eagles also got that in Huff.  But, we don't know what Huff will do in a bigger role.   We can hope things turn out well with both moves, but these moves are forever linked.

Very likely but it does make you wonder why not just keep your draft picks and sign Huff

This trade sucks ass every second more you actually think about it

They liked Nakobe Dean too, how'd that work out?

I don’t like it. Reddick was a stud and easy guy to root for.

Agree this trade blows. He was our best defensive player, compensatory pick would’ve been a late 3rd anyway.

Well the value is decent but they couldn’t at least get a 2025 pick? 2026 is basically a comp pick if they just let him walk next year

Too bad we’re not getting a draft pick as high as the Jets 2010 would’ve been with your logic here

So we traded Reddick for Huff, a 2026 2nd rounder, and probably about 20m$ in total cap space over the course of their contracts and void years.

POSSIBLE 2nd round pick.   It's a 3rd... until the pieces fall into place for the 2nd.   He could get hurt in TC, and never play a down this season.   Who knows?

I think this is really all about Bryce Huff. He‘s clearly a player they love and believe in. Less about Reddick. They would be traded Sweat instead if it came together easier.

Bringing back both Bradberry and Slay last year, trading your best defensive player while you’re still a contender the next. Howie is making some very suspect decisions.
