That’s the thing. We can’t bank on that, and what do we have behind him? He’s a great depth piece and spot starter/stopgap. We can’t count on him as the answer.

Connor Williams is still a FA. Always thought he was solid but not special with Dallas, but he's rated high up most free agent lists, so maybe NFL people value him differently. He tore his ACL in December so may start the season on PUP, but has C/G versatility and is still available.

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

Ok I love the Barkley deal

I should back track a bit. I should say I’m comfortable penciling in Maddox/Hall as the nickels, but I wouldn’t turn down a quality addition to push one off the roster either.

Gotta keep Goedert happy.

I'm sure Siciliano has his ear to the ground looking for new work.

You should love his group of three because it’s not realistic.

It’s definitely on the fringe of realistic, but one thing I’ve learned over the years is that players drop in the draft that fans would have never predicted.

Carter is a great example. Almost everyone had him as a top 5 pick and arguably the best player in the draft.

Yeah good thing we went for LJ Smith’s numbers instead of boring old jason witten…

Jason Witten is exactly why I WOULDN’T take Bowers OR Smith or any other TE in a similar mold in the first two rounds.

Witten was a FANTASTIC blocker. He was 6’6” 265 pounds. An absolute mismatch against DBs in the run game and was bigger than almost any LB as well. Night and day difference between him and Bowers physically.

Look, the value of a TE is that it’s a difficult matchup in theory. If you bring an extra DB on the field to cover then, you can run the defense into the ground. If you put a LB on him, he’s going to run wild in the passing game.

These smaller TE’s give up a lot of that mismatch advantage in the run game. They're just not going to overwhelm defenders in the run game.

I’m fine with a slot WR/TE hybrid like Bowers, just not in the first round. Those 6’3” 240 lbs receiving specialists are too easy to find on day 3, and TEs rarely have the receiving production to justify their selection in the first round based purely on their passing game contributions.

Bowers is God

But which skills?

Coverage, blitzing, pursuit, etc.

Two of the better ones from that network.  Siciliano goes as host, but Brandt and Schrager stay??

James Palmer does a better job that the majority of their other reporters.

hmm... not sold.

I see tools, but not skills.

If Malcolm Jenkins was a safety from day 1, would he have still been a 1st round pick? He wasn't bad as a CB, but he didn't flourish until he was moved to FS. I'm all for DeJean playing where he fits best based on team need until he settles in to what position his is best suited for.

Jenkins got moved to safety because he didn’t have the twitch to play CB. That was evident anytime he had to cover any WR.

The Eagles, I’m sure, are perfectly content with their two safeties at least another two seasons.

Either way, I’m guessing they go pass rusher round 1

we have guards

actually, not.

the Eagles lost starting RG Cam Jurgens to Center,  and Opeta left in free agency.

At RT,  Lane Johnson is making $18 Million a year through 2026.

Losing 2 RGs seems to indicate a need at RG.

Is the RG being drafted better at RG than Steen?  Steen could be RG, but he can also be Swing Tackle.  RG is the only position on the OL which isn't wrapped up with a good starter for years.

I like Hennessey a lot. He was terrific at Temple. He was very good at Atlanta before knee injuries. If he's healthy, we're good there.

He's on a 1 year deal, right?

I have to think we draft a guy to develop for a year. What do you think of Coleman, the OT/OG (probably OG in the NFL) out of TCU?

Seems to have good size and athleticism and we brought him in for a visit.

I just learned from Brett Kollman that Christian Boyd will do his testing at Cooper DeJean's pro day. Those are two prospects the eagles have their eye on. Big day for eagles coming up on the 8th.

Put him at full back! With his speed and agility, no one could stop him!

Good video. Really cool info on a punter prospect. @just relax youll like hearing him talk about value of nickel CB.

I should amend an earlier statement about the Eagles needing to have a round 1 grade on DeJean at both safety and CB in order to be open minded about his position based on team fit. At 22, the Eagles might not have a player with a first-round grade on the board, so it would be unrealistic to expect a round 1 grade for both. I do, however, think they could reasonably have him graded as a round 2 player at both, thus making him a very attractive target.

I think the Eagles drafted him initially because he was a Combine warrior.

Maddox is indicative of what Howie will be doing the rest of the offseason. Signing proven vets cheap at a discount hoping for a rebound season. Expect a few more of these, especially on defense. I trust Fangio is going to stabilize this thing and play to these players strengths. And be way better at adjustments in game and after games.  Top 3 picks need to be a factor THIS YEAR and we are on our way. Figure 2 out of first 3, at least, will be selected for defense.

One thing Maddox was great at while he was at Pitt was blitzing from the slot. Never understood why the Eagles didn't take advantage of that.

Beebe was one of the faster guard prospects at 5.03 40 yard dash.  Also the fast 3 cone of the ones that tested

those numbers are good and his overall numbers are good.

what I don't like about him is that he was not a right guard.

His overall numbers have some flaws,  someone mentioned arm length.   He was good in college with a lot of All America,  but mostly Left Tackle and Left Guard.

Also would look at Christian Haynes,  who was 2nd team All American,  who played many many games at Right Guard,  which is the only position the Eagles have an open spot at.

Mock draft database has him at 61,  and the consensus is Eagles 53

1st team All American Right Guard was Zak Zinter,  who broke his leg.  he's at 112 on mdd.
