  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

If we draft a guy like Mims who wouldn't start this year but conceivably is ready next year,  anyone think Lane would possibly slide in to guard for a year or 2? That's sometimes a career lengthening move.

He's had the ankle problem and the sports hernia.  In ay guard suddenly he doesn't need to make those big explosive kick slides anymore.  Could help.

Yes,   move your all pro RT to RG because you need a place for a guy you unnecessarily drafted.

Lane has 3 years 24, 25, 26 - where he is getting $18 Million a year.  And is signed for vet minimum for 27.   It is assumed he will retire between 26 and 27.

100% of the current great OTs the Eagles have did not play OL in high school.

50% of the current great OTs the Eagles have did not play football in high school.

So,  if you want to use the past to predict the future,  look for high school QBs or overseas rugby giants.   Because 100% of the current great Eagles OTs were either one or the other.

OT is absolutely on the table in Round 1 if Howie can move up a bit.  The RT of the future and we always invest heavily in our OL.

Like Mailata.

Never played football.

Drafted in the 7th.

No chance Lane moves inside. When he can't go at the level he expects to anymore, he'll hang 'em up. Might be as soon as this year.

You realize how purple unicorn 4-leaf clover pie in the sky lucky we were that he turned out to actually be a player? To put it in perspective, there's higher odds that you actually touch a breast this weekend that isn't your own. You draft for the future, doofus. Lane has had nagging injuries for years, and I would not be shocked if he retired after this coming season.

Mailata’s journey to the NFL is probably the coolest football story I know & it’s really neat that he’s on our team. Huge huge fan of him & glad we’re keeping him around. Great news

He got robbed on The Masked Singer!

This is why I think more and more Howie will go OT in round 1.

It's one of those positions he loses sleep at night thinking about. Howie never leaves OL up to chance.

I think having two book end OTs for the last decade+ is a luxury Howie isn't going to want to lose and will view this draft as a rare opportunity to be a good team picking low and still having the opportunity to come away with a premier tackle prospect.

I think Howie will be tempted to go CB if Mitchell or Arnold fall, but I think his fear of Lane retiring and them not having found a viable replacement by then will win out in the end.

There is also something to be said for the longevity of offensive lineman. When you hit, you’ve got a starter for 10+ years.

Most other positions usually start declining after their 8th year, assuming they last that long to begin with.

I believe Dallas should do the responsible thing and trade Micah Parsons.

I think Lane will play for $18 Million a year at Right Tackle through 2026.  He's signed through 2027,  but he's not getting $18 Million in 2027, but I'm guessing he won't go somewhere else in 2027,  because the Eagles have him signed.

Been saying this for the last year.  If Jimmy Johnson was there, he'd be gone for a haul.  Not sure JJ has it in him to deal him.

It is...in fact I think it's their first priority.  Their history says it is.  I wonder which one Stoutland is pounding the table for...

To counter my own argument though, the Eagles do love to zig when others zag. I could envision Howie taking an edge in round 1 and getting up to the podium and going on a spiel about how since everyone was focused on OL the Eagles felt other positions were being devalued and they could grab a top 15 player at 22 because everyone was racing to grab offensive linemen.

Howie taking a guy like Latu and explaining it with that logic wouldn't surprise me either.

But if I had to bet I still lean OT or CB if one of the top guys is in their range.

If he does well this year I hope they start playing this at home games...

LOL at those guys thinking Dak would bring in a better trade package than Micah Parsons.  One of them said 3 firsts for Dak.

The one Howie would have to trade up to get.

More than likely, yes.  Alt is probably gone top 7.  So probably not him

Good lord - did they not just witness what happened in Denver?

ESP, this is the exact same as the leak you moron.

Andre Dillard was drafted in the 1st the following year. The Eagles liked Mailata's size and potential but they did not leave the blindside protection to chance.

Not sure what Parsons could fetch. Seems like a ton

Doubt Dak would even come close to the trade

He's destined to play in Philadelphia.  He can never hide how much he admires the organization and team.

He should demand his release because there's no way in hell they'd trade him to us

But if that is the plan for Lane then its too soon to draft his heir

Could be, but it’s close.  Lane turns 34 before this season.  I’d rather draft his replacement a year early than a year late

he’s at the point where I don’t think we can just write him in for 17 games a year

True but then you lose the rookie contract at a premium position.
