How can anyone who has followed the Eagles waste their time speculating about the draft?

1) Howie will trade up or down, he rarely stays put.

2) He'll draft off his board, learned his lesson a few years ago and has become more disciplined.

3) He'll probably rely more on his coordinators this draft, and of course, Stoutland, the coordinators last year were hired late and lacked the gravitas to have much impact.

Other than that, given where the Eagles pick, anything could happen. They didn't expect Smith to fall last year. The only thing guaranteed in the draft is a few players will get picked way too early and a few players will drop further than you'd expect. After that, trades will muddle the picture well before Howie is in striking distance of anyone he'd want.

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

I'd really be shocked if it wasn't OT.  I could possibly see CB, but only if the OT plan failed.  And if that failed, then it's possible a top 2 CB falls further than they thought.  Probably not all the way to 22, but close enough.

It's been 11 drafts (Lane in 2013) since the Eagles spent a 1st round pick on a good OT.  Yeah Dillard was picked, but that's even more reason why OT is on deck this year.  Of the last 7 lineman (offensive or defensive) taken in the first round this last decade, 6 of them were on the defensive line...the other was Dillard.  I can't see this year not being OT

Shocked huh?

A felony for 10.8 grams? That doesn't seem right.

That’s Texas. When I was younger they threw a Black activist in jail with at least ten years for a few roaches in his ashtray. We were extremely careful with our dope because the busts were significant. And they go by weight so edibles are even harsher.

The Eagles are reallly realllllly   reallllllly due to take a Long Snapper in the first round.  They NEVER did that.

Im just getting started on this one and probably wont finish it in this sitting. Its gonna be good because its not just a top 5 or top 10, its top 20 edge rushers. There will be guys discussed that we dont hear much about.

I watched this this afternoon. I love that they talked about some sleepers I discovered early on in the process and these guys are high on those guys too. Guys like Mo Kamara and Grayson Murphy. One of them even had Jonah Elliss all the way up at 5.

Especially love the info on my man Jalyx Hunt. Its really worth a listen. 30:20-32:04 and they go back to him at 36:39.

Incredible prospect. A project. But a project I want to have on this team. This guy is one of the few sleepers I posted about that has remained completely buried. Guys like Kamara and Ellis have climbed boards. Hunt is somewhat known, by some. But still not respected. And he needs to be. Crazy athlete with size. Big time potential.

Xavier Thomas is someone I only recently discovered and thought he might be a UDFA or maybe a 6th rounder at the earliest, toiling in obscurity, also as an old prospect. But one of these guys has him at 10. No one else on the internet has ever mentioned him.

They agree with my assessment on Darius Robinson. Hes a project.

Those were some nice confirmatory things. Now, some things I learned.

Javonte Jean-Baptiste is a guy I havent done any digging in to yet and he sounds extremely appealing. Very long, good athlete, productive at Notre Dame. Pretty decent combine workout and supposedly had food poisoning right before so probably can do even better.

And, between last nights Defensive Gems video, and this one, I really love Javon Solomon. Another guy I really hadnt watched at all. Hes not even 6'1'' but he does have long arms and gigantic hands. We havent seen enough elite Josh Huff to want the next Josh Huff. But if Huff is what the eagles think he is, its gonna be a really good thing to say this guy is another Josh Huff. There are a few other similar prospects. Small but with great, great burst. But Javon Solomon is the one that gets me the most excited about his potential.

Eagles picks- Wiggins, Payton Wilson, Cole Bishop.

Yes he's talented, but I want no part of him

I want all of him.  I want the whole package.  He would be great in Philly.  Just add to the Dream Team.

RG3 making out of the line nowhere inappropriate post about Jason Kelce's wife. I wonder if it's in response to reports that Jason might replace him on their MNF pregame show.

Don't think that's Kylie Kelce.

Newton weighed in at 304 at combine and 6 foot 2.  Wasn't Cox 6 foot 4 and 304?

Short arms too. I'd be fine with the selection if Vic has some master plan for him.

Imho Latham is better than Mims, at tackle and certainly at guard.

I'd be fine with a smaller trade up if Latham slips to 16, 17 area. Immediately steps in at RG and could be a force fairly quickly.

In this year's draft class Newton is

1st in sacks

tied 1st in QB hits

2nd in hurries

1st in total pressures

3rd in win percentage

1st in forced fumbles

8.5TFLs and tied for 1st in PFF stuffs.

All while playing injured.

It probably doesnt take much of a master plan to use him.

I'm just not sure if Vic wants a smaller type DT.

Well, hes not a Wingo, or Kancey, or Milton Williams.

Hes a pretty adequately sized DT if youre not looking for a nose tackle.

I don't think he's a 3-4 end and if you draft him I'd think he'd be more for a 4-3 front, which I don't know if Vic will do. Everything has been pointing towards the 3-4, mostly

People keep saying that, but I dont think theres much traditional base 3-4 happening.

Thats why I assume Latham will be gone before our pick. And I dont really see Mims playing G temporarily till Lane retires either because of his size.

I think Mims may be gone, but good chance he is still there. And I think the eagles would take him and actually not play him in year 1.

Agree on all points.
