Still doesn't explain Pickett refusing to suit up at the end of last season though does it?  I don't doubt the business side of an NFL players career is brutal, and this sequence of events is an example of that, but I've watched plenty of QB's get benched and take it a boatload better than Pickett did last year.

Treat your team like that, don't be surprised if the team isn't that bothered about your feelings when a chance to change directions comes up.

He wasn’t medically cleared to play.  What better explanation do you need?

But we do know what's going on, the orbits of the planets and moons of the solar system are established scientific fact, as are the behaviors of light and they can be described accurately by your local high school astronomy and physics clubs.

Your question is like asking why don't people in Australia fall off the ground if they're on the bottom of the Earth.

O-K.

Concerning Australia, we have the hubble telescope taking pictures of everything in the "universe", why can it take a picture of downunder showing building, ships, planes, oceans, trees and etc upside down? Just know, "because it's a lie" is an option you have.

4 round mock https://www.thedraftnetwork.com/2024/04/07/nfl-mock-draft-2024-april-4-round

DeJean goes at 15

Eagles picks

1. Arnold

2. Beebe, Cooper

4. Thrash

There was probably a time, a long time ago, when I would’ve thought "hmm, ‘Thrash’, what a great name for a WR…got to take that guy”.

That was a claim made by one journalist in a story that Pickett was angry people were saying he refused to play, as opposed to the multiple reports and a quote from Mike Tomlin that he refused to dress. Even the story that claims he wasn't medically cleared quotes Pickett as saying that he 'prepared all week on the basis that I was starting or else not suiting up at all'.

It's not a claim made by one journalist.  He suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 13 (a real high ankle sprain; not the imaginary one Mahomes claimed).  He was on the injury report as OUT for Weeks 14-16 after he had tightrope surgery, and limited practice Week 17 and listed as doubtful.  He was eligible to return Week 18, but Mason Rudolph was the hot hand so they went with him.

If the head coach tells you that you're going to start Week 18 and you practice fully on a surgically repaired ankle to get back into the lineup 4 weeks later, then the head coach renegs -- yeah, that will cause ill will.  When the same head coach pulls the BS Tomlin pulled with everything he did after the season -- yup; it's time to go.

Pickett isn't the first player to voice frustration with how useless Tomlin's "word" is.  Far from it.  Goes all the way back to James Harrison and before.

I just don't see New England trading out of 3 and taking OT at 11 given it's the first year post Bellichick and it would leave their QB room as a competition between Brissett and Zappe.

We’ve spent a lot of first round picks on defense in the last few years and have the worst defense in the nfl to show for it.

Defense is highly variable.  The Eagles were the number 1 passing defense in 2022 and top 10 in points.

If Penix is there at 50/53 and is the top rated player on the Eagles board, would they even remotely consider taking him?

I would hope not. That's too high a pick to use on a flyer. Guys taken at 50/53 should be expected to see the field as rotation/backups.

Daniel Jeremiah said he talked to GMs over the weekend and he likes to take notice of who they ask about, especially when they ask about where they’re gonna be drafted. He said the most popular guy they wanted to know about was Graham Barton. He also thinks the DTs are going to go higher than expected, particularly Murphy and Newton.

Question for draftniks - I've seen DeJean,Mitchell,  McKinstry, ranked #1, #2, #3.  I have not seen Arnold on that list, but OK.  It seems like there is no consensus top CB in the draft?  Lots of guys that are similar talent, late 1st rounders?

Correct, IMO.  I'd be quite surprised if any of them went in the top 15.  Most have Quinyon Mitchell as the best CB, but I'd prefer look at his tape outside of the 4 interceptions some numbskull threw to him in the same game.  He's a good prospect, no question, but the level of competition he was playing against wasn't that high, week-to-week.

Personally, I prefer Nate Wiggins.  He has the physical skills and he's got a lot of tape playing against the best WRs in this current draft class.  At 175 lbs he's not going to be a physical CB, but he's the best coverage guy -- by a wide margin -- IMO.

I struggle to say I'm ok drafting a 173 pound CB with 1st round pick.

My assumption is that Sundell puts on some weight, about 15-20lbs and becomes primarily a back up guard.  But can back up any position, which would be really nice to have.

I don't really see him as a center, at 6'5".

When I look at Sundell, I wonder where he can put on the weight. You may be right, though, but I worry that he might be a Hank Fraley type - a 230 pound man with 70 pounds of excess baggage. He doesn't look that quick to me and he's not that fast. Further, he turns his man rather than drive him (in the clips I watched) and if he can't dominate his opponents at that level, what's he gonna do against the big boys? Maybe a late pick or udfa, at best.

I think, but do I know? No.

Wiggins is 6'1 3/8.  His frame can easily get into a weight room and be 185 lbs.  The extra mass might slow him from a 4.28 to a 4.35.

Australia is a lie? Is Mailata in on it?

A prospect I'm curious about is Dallas Gant. A top 75 recruit who went to Ohio State and then transferred to Toledo (Quinyon Mitchell's team) as buried behind other LB's.

Believe he is around 6 foot 3 and 228 pounds and ran either high 4.5's or low 4.6's.  Anyone know anything else about him?

It's not a good defensive draft in general for any defensive position. It's not like other years with clear top guys, it's more based on preference and style. There's some good prospects mixed in there but it's more quantity than quality.

Had another dream about the draft. Not sure why I keep having them, I was more fired up last year and didn't have any.

This time I had a dream the pick got to 22 and the Eagles took Cooper DeJean and everyone here was happy and I was annoyed. And then for whatever reason we found out the Eagles traded down to 25 and the pick wasn't actually made by the Eagles. The trade was just reported really late. And then I was happy we didn't get DeJean and everyone here was pissed that we traded down. And a bunch of really good players were still on the board. Eagles got a 3rd rounder to move down 3 spots.

Then at pick 25 the Eagles took Zach Frazier, and then the next two picks at 26 were Amarius Mims and pick 27 was Nate Wiggins and then everyone was equally pissed.

Yup. There's no Sauce Gardner best I can tell. But there are guys with high end traits that could be very good if used correctly. Eg Wiggins in coverage, DeJean in a bit of a hybrid role etc. I'm happy we finally have a veteran DC who knows what he's looking for for that reason. There will probably be quite a few square pegs in round holes coming out of this draft.

While teams are trying to convince DJ Burns to be a LT in the NFL, I'm wondering what it would take to get Elly De La Cruz to try WR. 6-5 200 and can MOVE.
