The reality is that it sucks how big of a role athletes and celebrities play in our lives. We almost have to treat what we see on the field and on TV separate from the real person. It's also a reason that we shouldn't idolize any of them. Sure, we can benefit from their talents for our entertainment, but that's about it.

OJ Simpson was a generational RB, and should have been one for the Eagles. He was a very marketable guy in commercials and movies and was also a good sport in being able to poke fun at himself. I relate it to Bill Cosby. I love the Cosby Show and his stand up and while I haven't watched the show in some time, I'm sure I could binge watch it and not think about what he did (I'm also betting he was one of MANY celebrities doing the same thing during the 70s), just like I can watch OJ Simpson highlights and say damn, he was good.

I've always separated the celebrity from the person. Never knew an actor, musician or athlete to lend me money, buy me a drink, screw me ragged, get me a job, give me a shoulder to cry on. Only ones where I'm interested in the person are songwriters, b/c it helps you understand the songs. But actors are just that, knowing about their childhood trauma or current affairs tells you nothing about their craft (by definition). Athletes' character only interests me in terms of team dynamics (and don't get busted) and reaching their potential. Being famous or infamous doesn't interest me per se, the media fixates on weird crap.

Their job is to entertain, and they get highly paid if they're good at it (and lucky). Who they are in "real life" is their problem and their business, not mine.

What do you think of the player rankings from this site?  They have Latham whom I'm really high on at number 6 overall, Newton at 15, Fautanu 17, Rakestraw 19, Arnold at 32, Colson as top LB at 36 with Gray 2nd at 38.  They have Edgerrin Cooper in the 130's.  I am really warming up to Gray also and Colson

Agreed.  Charlie Brown was always an enigma to me until he recorded this classic:

That should've been the strategy last year

"Play-now" probably means guard over tackle, someone who can backup center as well.   Steen would kick back out to tackle and Hennessy takes over for Driscoll as the sixth OL.

DE could be up there, Latu and Verse would be the targets.

CB would be Terrion Arnold all day long.

I still think it's going to be Barton but Arnold makes a ton of sense.

I will say if the Eagles don't get their Lane replacement this year, they better hope he plays 3 more years, because if it's only two years they're running out of time. You'd have the next two drafts, and there's no guarantee they will be strong OT classes, and if they are, there might not be one of the top guys in their range. And if they were to not get one next year, drafting a guy in 2026 you'd be asking him to come in as a rookie and play immediately, which is always tough. Especially in a division with Parsons and Burns. And for all we know Lane could get banged up this year and call it a career a year early. Then they'd really be SOL.

And even in the short term, either Steen or Fred Johnson are their backups right now, there's no way they're cool with that.

Unless they think Stoutland is so good he can mold anyone into a stud, but I think that's dangerous territory. He's a good OL coach, he's not a god. Driscoll, Dillard, and some others never amounted to anything under him and Steen in 2023.

If they want to get a stud replacement for Lane, round 1 in a couple weeks is the time to do it.

Lane started week 1 the year he was drafted.

I think, even in a strong OT class, "stud" would necessitate a trade-up -- at least talking in terms of probabilities.

Rakestraw at 19 is kind of nuts.

Caleb’s going to show up to the draft in a Prom dress

I have created a mini-beast.

I just ranked players by round, and tried to keep them grouped by position so the names arent all jumping around too much.

It totals 115 draftable players. 17 UDFAs

You are welcome.

I'm exhausted after reading that. I salute you.:worthy:

Flyers are a total disgrace.  Sixers can't have their new center city arena soon enough.  I'm so upset at the Flyers thar I'm shaking and I can't stop.

The draft isn't the only way to get an OT. We traded for Peters and signed Runyan as a FA. When you have a very good player that is already entrenched as the starter and you want to prepare for the future which is less certain, it's wise to bring in developmental guys with later draft picks. Using a 1st round pick on a guy that might not get a chance for a few seasons makes less sense than using a 1st to trade for a proven Tackle when the uncertainty turns to need. It's a little different when you have an immediate need or opening.

Stott crushed that,

Uh... no.   The total disgrace would be anyone suggesting that the Flyers have to disrupt their schedule to accommodate the Sixers.    The Flyers game has been scheduled since months before the regular season for either team started.   The Sixers' playoff situation is not the Flyers' problem.

ESP is dead wrong on this (again).   And so are you.

We don't want to disrupt the Flyers schedule of nonstop embarrassing blowout losses.

It is 100% irrelevant what the Flyers are doing on the ice - winning, losing or just standing around.  The schedule says that the space is theirs to use.

You think it would be cool for the Phillies to tell the Eagles they can't play on a given Sunday because they have a play-in game for the playoffs?   (obviously, this would have to go back to the days when they both played at the Vet.).  Of course not.

The tickets were sold for a specific date long long ago.   There's no reason to reschedule the Flyers' game.  The Sixers can find another date in the calendar where the building is available.    Just like they would find a way to accommodate both teams if they both made the playoffs.  You don't bump one team out of a scheduled game to make space for the other.

And while you don't see the value in the Flyers... that doesn't matter to business.   The business side of this says, "The Flyers had the building scheduled for them.   The Flyers own the building.  So, the Flyers are going to play their game as scheduled, and the Sixers are going to have to work around that."   No big deal, really.

And if this really has you so upset that you are shaking... seek professional help.  The reality is that this is a nothing matter.   Tuesday, Wednesday... who really cares which day the game is played?   It hasn't been scheduled yet.  It will take place... IF it has to... whenever it does.
