Has anyone else noticed the irony of Iverson having a statue at the practice facility? We talkin  bout practice.

Are we gonna be tied for 6th seed after tonight’s win or what?

There's definitely a portion of the fan base that thinks "we don't need round 1 talent, we have Stoutland!" which overrates him from being a great coach into a football god.

If the Dillard experiment didn't bring those people back to reality, nothing will.

If there really are top WR prospects that can be had in the second round, I say we draft one and try to assemble an unstoppable offense for the next two years. Obviously address the major needs on defense with the rest of the picks.

edit: someone who can play outside and in the slot

Keon Coleman is someone who's being flying under the radar. Not sure if it's because he didn't test all that well but goodness, watch his game tape and he's a baller.

This made me laugh

This has a lot of "What about the Super Bowls Tom Brady didn't win" vibe to it.

My gut feeling on the Eagles pick is really starting to shift. I want to keep the streak going and getting the pick for the 4th straight year. Last year I wasn't sure where they'd go. Then like a week and a half to two weeks before the draft I settled on trading up for Carter. It felt like such a Howie move. They get a top 10 pick via another team(NO) and Howie can puff his chest out at the league for getting the consensus best player in the draft who only fell for character concerns. I was supremely confident they'd get Carter. More than I was Davis and Devonta.

This year I'm finding it much more difficult. But I'm starting to feel that they trade up for Terrion Arnold. I was at OT for a while, but I don't know if Howie is going to be willing to pull the trigger on an OL who doesn't play for two years. Especially when they hired Fangio and they decided to give Sirianni one final shot. Would they really keep the dude in a year where he either has a great year or he's fired and make your best pick a dude who won't play for two years?

And yeah, they could go OT who plays guard, but... I don't know. The Eagles are known to course correct and something tells me the Steen failure will sour them on investing that high a pick on that unless the Eagles view a guy like Latham as someone who's elite at both. Or Fautanu. Which is entirely possible.

But I still can't get over that they've done very little at outside corner. Have one guy they probably feel good about with future starter's potential(Ringo). Slay is 33 and could fall off at any minute, Bradberry already fell off. If they pay Devonta 25m, they're going to need to have some premium positions on the roster who are playing everyday making affordable money. What better way to afford AJ Brown and Devonta making 25m each than to have both starting corners on cheap deals in 2025 and on?

My gut is starting to shift back to CB. And trading up for one they love so they don't risk drafting another bust there. With the outside chance as one of the versatile tackles being the pick, but only if the Eagles think they will be elite at both spots. I don't think they'd take just an OG in the first round. That is not the Eagles MO.

If we want the OLB/edge to be able to drop in coverage, Jalyx Hunt is the #1 prospect for that position, for our team, in this draft.

If you had a need for a true SAM he can be that guy. If you want the Josh Sweat edge guy who can actually cover, its Hunt.

He will have to develop pass rush moves because right now its all athleticism. But this guy has great measurables, and still possesses safety like movement skills from his safety days at Cornell. He is a unicorn. He will contribute in other ways right away while developing as a rusher.

My player comp for Hunt is Connor Barwin. And for those who really remember Barwin as an eagle, he was a playmaker in various aspects of the game. Not a dominant, but a good pass rusher. But tons of tipped passes at the line, or PDs in coverage as well. Guy was just everywhere. He could play 4-3 SAM, or 3-4 OLB as well. Hunt is that guy. I believe Hunt is also still more agile than Barwin. His change of direction is fantastic despite his sizeable frame.

I think it is a bit of a stretch that Hunt can cover.  It’s a huge projection as Cornell and Houston Christian aren’t exactly powerhouse programs.  Heck, we used to go to Houston Baptist (former name) to watch plays when I was young. Pretty sure my High School had a bigger enrollment.  He has the athleticism to cover but does he have the football IQ.  Take Brandon Smith. Comparable in size.  Smith from LB U.  Smith faster.  Lacking football instincts.  Hunt could easily by him.

I really have no idea. I posted the very informative tweet in the thread last night. I was hoping someone else would decipher it. Its more thinking than I want to do when Im just trying to enjoy some basketball.

The overwhelming majority of the blog hates the Sixers.  But I'm sure once they go on a run in the playoffs they will start acting like fans.

Its very interesting how he doesnt create much separation, yet when he has the ball in his hands youd think hes a little jitterbug gadget type WR with the moves he has.

Im wondering if he just didnt refine his route running enough yet and he will learn how to create that separation.

OR, something I noticed was that often he looked NFL open and by the time the ball arrived the DB was on him. Thats mostly the QBs fault either with late throws, inaccurate throws, or weak throws that take a while to get there. I sure am not impressed by his arm.

It just makes me wonder exactly how PFF calculates the separation grade. Are they measuring separation at the moment the ball is being caught? Because if they are, his grade is terrible and its mostly his QBs fault. It reminds me a lot of Tee Higgins and how much worse Lawrence made him look. Fooled a lot of people in to not being high enough on Tee.

But, theres also his slow 40 time, and fastest WR in the gauntlet. Very conflicting statistics out there about him. Hes a very confusing player.

The Sixers knocking the heat off in the play-in and then knocking the Bucks off in round 1 sets up a cool path of redemption playoff road for them. If it shakes out like that.

That said, I'm not as optimistic as other people about some playoff run.

1) It's still the Sixers and Embiid still has not had great postseason success.

2) Will Embiid be on a minutes restriction? They aren't making a run with him capped at 32 mpg. Not happening. Especially when their opponents will ramp up their starter's minutes.

3) Flawed players tend to get exposed in the playoffs and in a series. Guys like Oubre and Lowry will have some moments I'm sure, but they are minimum players for a reason. Might hurt you just as much as they help you in the playoffs.

What I am interested is seeing Maxey more than anything. I want to see how he responds when teams try to play rough with him and take away his driving lanes and force him to score more from the mid range. Will he be able to adjust? Or has he reached a level other superstars do where he can impose his will anyway?

But that leads to 4) and for the Sixers to make a run, basically all the above has to work out in their favor and the odds of all that happening are not great IMO.

As a converted safety, to the extent that an edge rusher will be asked to cover, I think its pretty safe to say he can handle it.

He literally lined up over WRs at times as an edge in coverage. Youll see it on the first play of this video. But then watch where he lines up at 1:27. We will be ready to fire Fangio if we see our edge lined up this far away from the ball. Hes like the boundary CB on that side! lol.

Quite honestly if you watch Edgerrin Cooper in all of his coverage snaps, and you look at Hunt, Hunt does just as much. People in here are going crazy over Cooper's coverage ability. People are calling him the best coverage backer in the draft. I dont buy that one but. But if Cooper gets that kind of praise it should be fair play for Hunt too. There are tons of LBs in this draft that never line up where he lines up.

At 7:22 he actually appears to be in man coverage.

Its almost comical the way they use him. Hes not a guy who hasnt been asked to cover. He has a lot to learn as far as being an LB. Get stronger. Develop rush moves. Shed blocks. But as a safety, turned edge who still did a TON of covering as an Edge one thing I feel very confidently about is his ability to handle Edge coverage responsibilities.

Lowry (at least right now when he is healthy) and Oubre are the exact type of players you surround Maxey and Embiid with in the playoffs.

How do you view Payton Wilson? He looked pretty good to me in limited viewing.

He has a troubling injury history. He is good when healthy, but he's a risky draft pick.

far and away the best LB in this draft. Different tier above Cooper and anyone else.

Depends on how many he blows out at one time while playing football :)
