  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

No, I missed them.  How'd we do?

You're describing a coordinator issue on offense and a GM issue on defense.

Not well - Sirianni played an active role in the defensive coordinator search.  He got rid of the DB's coach in favor of a friend.  The offense is his offense.

His arms looked jacked.

Not sure if it was trolling or fake, but saw Trotter Jr had a RAS score of 1.9.

He's basically the same exact size as Nakobe Dean and didn't test well, so I wouldn't think a RAS on him would come back very high.

IMO the Eagles season cratered when they gave Matt Patricia carte blanche to scheme a new defense at the same time the offense was leaking some serious oil.  There was a 4-game stretch where the offense scored 6, 6, 7, and 7 points in the first half of games.  Two of those were against BUF and KC where they came back to win, but I thought at the time Nick should have taken over play calling from Brian Johnson.

At the very same time, some of the Eagles defensive players went to Sirianni to voice a total lack of confidence in Desai (if the reporting is to be believed).  This led the Eagles to "zig where they should have zagged".  They'd have likely been better off sticking with Desai as DC and taking BJ's playcalling duties away.  Unfortunately, they did the opposite.

It was just about exactly this time last year when Matt Patricia was hired, and I still have no idea why he was brought in.  Desai had only been hired a couple of months before; could it have been that Nick and Howie saw already that the job might be too big for him??  I think the Patricia debacle was a Howie hiring so I blame him for the most part.  The other dysfunctional aspect of what went on was Nick saying Patricia was only calling plays and Desai was still the DC.  Clearly, that was not the case and (IMO) Nick screwed up by not keeping a tighter rein on what Patricia was doing.

I don't think any of that stuff automatically leads to the head coach getting fired, but Nick will clearly be on the hot seat this season.  The expectations will be 11-12 wins and a playoff win -- at minimum.  Short of that I think it's a pretty safe bet there will be a change made.

I am seeing a 4.6 40 being reported now from his recent testing, so that part is decent.

Sirius NFL had Jared Wiley TE from TCU on today.  Seems like a good prospect that night make it to the 4th round.  Any insights?

Since nobody chimed in, I decided to look into him.  6'6"  249 lbs with a 4.62 forty, 37" vert. Former HS QB who transferred from Texas to TCU.

Watching the highlights, it is clear he is a big target on the field who has a knack for getting open finding sit down areas in zones. Consistent hand catcher.  Goes down a little too easy for his size.  Red zone 8 tds last year.  Scouting report says he has good blocking technique but needs to improve lower body strength.

If he can be had in the 4th, might be a good option to work into the depth chart.

Sirianni may have been at fault for hiring the coordinators but they made their own bed with dreadful performance. He didn’t scapegoat them; they did it to themselves.

In no way am I defending them.  But, I am responding to the poster who wants all the blame to go to the underlings.  The head coach deserves a fair share, dare I say the lion's share, of the blame.  After all, it's ultimately HIS responsibility.  And every move he tried to make to right the ship only precipitated a faster decline.

Blame it on the hoodie?  Conditioning has been a concern with him.   It might not be the hoodie's fault at all.

Jordan Davis, Dean and Smith are all JAGs.

Yeah, I said it.

Well... the burden of proving you wrong lies with them.   So far, they haven't built much of a case.

The HC is hired and is automatically signed up to get the lion’s share of any blame.

You do seem to be going a little above and beyond the call of duty in your efforts to make sure Sirianni gets his share (or even more than his share).  This is the danger of hiring a polarizing personality.  I didn’t know at the time he was hired that he would be polarizing, but it’s kind of turned out that way with his antics on the sidelines, etc..  I think it’s safe to say that every Eagles fan has hated him at one point or another last season….and also loved him (if we’re being honest, some loved his shouts from the Chiefs stadium tunnel, while some rolled their eyes…just one example, but it should clarify what I mean).

I’m not going to lie… most of me (I went back-and-fourth) wanted him fired after last season too.  He’s on his last leash with me this season.  We will never really know whether or not it was ultimately his decision to hire those newbie coordinators, or not, so I will give him the benefit of doubt for one more season.  I noticed the sharp contrast between two brand new coordinators last year, to two experienced ones this year.

It just seems to me that you have left the benefit of the doubt completely behind when it comes to Sirianni.  After hearing what some of the players (like Kelce) have said about him, I still reserve some.

Well the biggest difference amongst the 3 is that Smith has only had a rookie year.  Davis and Dean managed to be replacement level players in year 2.

I think Jordan Davis handles that on his own. I know a hoodie can hide a lot but I was hoping he was really attacking the non-playing season to transform his body. He needs to follow Lane Johnson and Brandon Brooks around in the weight room.

Don't care that he tested poorly. Some guys just make plays and have a nose for the ball. Get him in the 2nd.

Agree.  Still S#3 for me.

Not to rile everyone up, but the Eagles instagram posted Devonta Smith’s highlights and…damn…that’s a lot of under thrown and mistimed balls getting bailed out by Smith.

Mentioned that in passing earlier when I shared his short highlight tape. If he's getting better throws, he's got a lot more TDs. It's interesting when you read some of the Philly beat articles, a lot of them say the Eagles need better QB play but don't directly say anything critical of Hurts. I think Hurts still has a lot he can improve in his game to take it to the next level. If he can get his deep ball accuracy down and not bail out of the pocket, he could have an all-time year with these weapons.

I said the same thing. Some hospital balls too.

Just saying... when the entire coaching staff gets overhauled, you really have to ask why the guy at the helm wasn't canned too.

I don’t think you’ll ever see the 2022 Hurts again who was an MVP runner up.  Defenses have adjusted to him and he needs to adjust in turn.  I do think he can be a top 5-6 QB in the league considering the weapons he has at his disposal; he just needs to trust the offense more and make the correct reads.

This is what I was hoping from Davis or Smith
