The whole Jersey color ban thing has to be fake. Otherwise organizing a game there between 2 out of 3 teams in the entire league with green jerseys would be absolutely moronic.

There isn't a QB in this draft that Scouts were as sold on as Trevor Lawrence, I think the Commanders are going to take Maye and he's just a taller Sam Howell 4 rounds earlier.

Everything about this Brazil game is a disaster. We should just send the Jags in our stead.

A taller Sam Howell sounds like a better QB than Trevor Lawrence.

If you look at Howell and Maye's College Stats side by side from Maye's year 2 (when Howell got drafted) they're eerily similar, same gaudy TD numbers, same low picks but the picks they threw were mostly bad decisions or throws or both.

I've said before I don't know how one can be graded day 3 and one top 10 overall other than Maye is 3 inches taller.

Didnt Howell have a worse season leading up to his draft? Wasnt he better the year prior? If I recall correctly, I think that affected his stock. As well as being a little small.

Howell surely was in the 1st round conversation for a while but I feel like his final season dropped his stock a bit.

Or... the NFL dropped the ball and are now scrambling to get them to change the ban rule.

Who would think that a color would be banned for a sporting event?   It is bizarre... so maybe the NFL missed this and are now forced to scramble.  We'll find out eventually.

Couple players from The Athletic sleepers article that I see as Day 3 targets.  Really like Briggs as Day 3 DT.

Joe Evans, DE, Iowa

Dane Brugler’s "The Beast” grade: Undrafted

The poster child for the ultimate Iowa success story, Evans was a high school quarterback-turned-linebacker who walked on. By his second year, he moved to a rush-end position and tied for the team lead in sacks during his final three seasons.

In his senior year, Evans finished with 9.5 sacks and concluded his career with four sacks in the Citrus Bowl against Tennessee. His 28 career sacks rank fourth in program history. Although his size (6-1, 246 pounds) likely keeps him undrafted, Evans had a freakish pro day that will make him a prized free agent.

At Iowa’s pro day, Evans posted an eye-popping 41.5-inch vertical jump. Had Evans been invited to the combine, that would have tied for seventh among all competitors. His shuttle (4.11 seconds) and 3-cone (6.98 seconds) drills were faster than any edge performer at the combine. His bench (24 reps) and 40-yard dash (4.67 seconds) were pro quality.

Evans’ real separation starts with his intangibles. Fewer players were as respected as a team captain as Evans. He earned a scholarship before his third season but always kept his walk-on mentality. Evans is built more like a 3-4 edge rusher but played a heavy five-technique at Iowa against offensive tackles who outweighed him by 80 pounds. At his pro day, Evans flipped over to fullback and worked on catching passes. It’s possible that could wind up being his final position. Undoubtedly, Evans will wind up as a core special teams performer for any team that signs him. — Scott Dochterman

Jowon Briggs, DL, Cincinnati

Dane Brugler’s "The Beast” grade: 7th-rounder/PFA

Measuring 6-1 and 313 pounds at Cincinnati’s pro day, Briggs is a Hulk of a human, with broad shoulders and a 78.75-inch wingspan extending from his dense, compact frame. He packs incredible power into that frame, putting up 42 bench-press reps at 225 pounds at the Big 12 Conference’s pro day — the most by any player at that event or the combine. Briggs deadlifted 655 pounds while at Cincinnati and was clocked at 18.6 MPH top speed and 4.89 seconds in the pro shuttle, earning him a spot on Bruce Feldman’s 2023 Freaks List.

Briggs started his career at Virginia as a four-star, top-100 prospect. He transferred back home to Cincinnati ahead of the 2021 season, compiling 130 tackles and eight sacks across three seasons, earning first-team All-AAC honors in 2022 and All-Big 12 honorable mention honors in 2023. He moved around quite a bit in the process, shifting from a three-technique end to nose tackle to more of a 4i-technique down lineman.

That versatility should benefit Briggs in the NFL. He doesn’t have the most explosive first step as a pass-rusher or eye-popping size as a run-stuffer, a combination that hinders his pro projections. But his strength is his strong suit, and he won’t get pushed off the line too often, even at the next level.

The former Cincinnati team captain should be a big hit in any locker room due to his character and maturity. The married father of three — and talented tenor singer — was a weight-room junkie and team leader in college.  Justin Williams

Ok, if the Eagles have few DTs playing many snaps,  shouldn't the Eagles be looking at a new DT,  to replace Cox,  who had a lot of snaps?

Howell was being touted as the #1 overall pick the year before he was draft eligible.  Most of his offensive skill players got drafted before his final college season and he played with scrubs (comparatively) his junior season.

One thing I would note on the whole Davis is a big fatty who's not fit enough to play professional football debate, is that last year he played more defensive snaps than every DT on the 49ers apart from Hargrave and every DT on the Chiefs apart from Chris Jones, and he played more Special Teams snaps on top than any DT on the roster of either.

It was our rotation that was wrong last year, in 2022 we brought in Joseph and Suh at week 10 to ease the pressure on the rotation and they took on a big workload down the stretch, this year we brought in nobody and had the most brutal game in years against the Bills in week 12. We had 4 DT's play over 490 snaps and none of the Conference Championship teams had more than 2.

The key metric is his effectiveness with the snaps.  Davis still has some ways to go and I do think trimming some weight as part of that, will benefit his general fitness and production in the longer term.

But equally.  Having a backup of quality will help him rotate in and out and remove the temptation to over snap hm.

It is also how many snaps he can play.  This team needs to field 11 players on defense at all times...  Davis, as a top 15 pick, absolutely needs to be able to eat snaps.   If he's only available to play 45% of the snaps again this year, even if he is effective in those snaps, that will be a disappointment.   I don't want to see him in long yardage situations... but if its 2nd and 6 or 3rd and 4... he needs to be on the field.   He can't just be a guy on 1st and 10, and 2nd/3rd and short.

Didn't know Evans.  His Iowa bio has nothing about HS QB.  Ras does not give him those numbers, though.   Fullback, you say?   Do like him now.

If you want to reduce DT snaps, player better team defense and get off the field. Eagles D had the 6th most snaps played while Kansas City, San Francisco and Detroit were 25th, 26th and 27th most.

I wouldn't be surprised to see someone like Fiske with one of the seconds, or someone like Orhorhoro in the 4th if he's still there.

If Verse makes it to 20...Howie will definitely try to trade up.

And if Dallas picks a WR instead of an offensive lineman, they are going 6-11.

Yeah I think Jacksonville expected more from him when Ridley and Kirk were both available, it's hard to know what he is with Doug as coach though, because he turned Wentz from a bright talent in '17 into a confused mess by the end

A historically bad 3rd down defense.  It was even worse considering how many times the other team was 1st and 20 or 2nd and 20 -- and you knew they were converting.
