If you want to reduce DT snaps, player better team defense and get off the field. Eagles D had the 6th most snaps played while Kansas City, San Francisco and Detroit were 25th, 26th and 27th most.

Yeah so then you get into the whole is it personnel or scheme thing and last year made that impossible to call.

Apart from Bradberry, who played like ass.

Yeah I think Jacksonville expected more from him when Ridley and Kirk were both available, it's hard to know what he is with Doug as coach though, because he turned Wentz from a bright talent in '17 into a confused mess by the end

If I am Jacksonville, I pick up his 5th year option but I don't extend him. If they miss the playoffs again and he is mediocre, I fire Doug and make him play on the 5th year option or look to trade him. He is the 2nd most overrated player in the game currently (other than Dak).

I wouldn't be surprised to see someone like Fiske with one of the seconds, or someone like Orhorhoro in the 4th if he's still there.

I like T'V Sweat. 366 pounds.  Outland winner.   Because rare.  Not expecting the Eagles to take him.   Also like the highras Orhorhoro.   And the udfa Tyreek Johnson from South Carolina.

Tyreek Johnson v Orhorhoro ras compare

If Verse makes it to 20...Howie will definitely try to trade up.

And if Dallas picks a WR instead of an offensive lineman, they are going 6-11.

Think he'd be a pure DE here. I don't think the OLB spot would suit his strengths well. Which would be fine. Our D-line really needs some players that fit Fangio's scheme better. Williams is a free agent after this year and the cupboard is pretty bare especially at DE.

What kind of The Bachelor garbage is this?

I couldn't argue with that.

But again Lawrence would be head and shoulders number one in this years draft too, he was absolute can't miss with Championship game winning experience, and he's been 2017 Kirk Cousins for 3 years, a perfectly adequate starting quarterback who's taking you nowhere while never being bad enough that you can point to him as the issue.

Be interesting to see him without Press Taylor, and at this point it's amazing Doug hasn't asked himself whether the problem with his career is his loyalty to the guy he made offensive coordinator the year after he won the Superbowl yet.

I know it's a different coaching staff and ownership but my alternate theory is they are thinking "let just get these all over with at once so we're not stuck with some weirdo who only eats Chicken Nuggets again"

Instead of handing out roses, they use old Redskin merch that they can't sell anymore.

Mike groh was the offensive coordinator after the super bowl Taylor was the QB coach.

Not sure if posted earlier.  They can solve RG next week.

Yup.  The defense is largely responsible for how much time they spend on the field.  If this team got better at 3rd down defense... that would drastically improve the number of snaps the DL needs to play.

Not at all.  It was both.   Their back 7 were retreads and has-beens.  Shocking that they couldn't get stops in the passing game.

Howie... Why do you struggle so badly to identify quality defensive talent in the draft?

I think it was Mark Dominik who said when he was GM of the Buccaneers that they used to do this sort of thing because they wanted to observe how these guys interrelate and what people skills and personality, etc. came through.  I would take a different approach if it were a top 5 pick, especially QB.  I would want to evaluate these guys' ability to lead.

Rather than observe them around other prospects, I would host visits separately with the top 3-4 QBs (Williams, Daniels, Maye, McCarthy).  After a day at the facility I'd invite them to dinner, but when they get to the restaurant they wouldn't find me waiting -- it would be McLaurin, Andrew Wylie, Jamison Crowder, Jonathan Allen, and Daron Payne.  Let the veteran leadership interview these guys and see who comes off as a leader among men.  If you're drafting a QB at #2 and you're expecting them to start Week 1, they have to be able to lead men.

I'd ask these veteran guys who have been around to give me their evaluation on who they believe would lead the team best.  It wouldn't necessarily dictate my decision but it would be a consideration.

When the decision is this big... you block off the week on your calendar and you make the time.   Drafting the right QB sets up your franchise for a decade plus... drafting the wrong one sets you back 3-5 years.

This won't get asked, but I'd love to ask Howie why he's historically favored older ages at the OL position.

Instead we'll get questions like "what do you think of this year's LB class!"

Is that sort of team contact allowed under the CBA?  Doubt it.

Well the temptation is to ask How annoying is it that you have to answer questions from ESP?   But given the season of misinformation, the obvious question is What piece of misleading tripe do you most want to get out there today?

Would that qualify as "illegal touching"?

I don't think any of these draft prospects are part of the union until they're drafted.  There shouldn't be any issue with it.

I was hired for one job where the final interview step was where the employees that would be reporting to me did the interview.  I thought it was a novel approach and saw the advantages in it.  Unfortunately, the poor buggers made the wrong choice and endorsed me.

Tough draft to get a read on.  Some would say the craziest in 30 years.  From what I have read, mocks etc this is what I am thinking.

Trade up candidates;  Latham, Verse, Latu, Mitchell, Arnold, Fautanu, Fashanu

#22 candidates:  Mims, DeJean, Powers-Johnson, Wiggins, Barton, McKinstery, Guyton

Still convinced that they go OL or DL in the 1st.  And I don't blame them.  Game is won in the trenches and they eat up a huge chunk of salary cap to replace.  Yeah, I would like a DB but I don't think they go there.  If they do, please for love of whoever you pray to, can they hit on one lol.

If you look at who they have met with, there's only a few prospects that are potential first round picks: Fautanu, Guyton and Morgan.  The Eagles don't telegraph a lot but the list of players that they have met with, interviewed or had in for a top 30 visit is pretty telling in 2 ways. First, they usually do not pick from players not in some way on that list.  Second, it gives you a sense of what positions they are interested in drafting.  My view of their list is that they are more likely to take an OL in the second round vs. the first.  I think it's possible they could go for either Guyton, Jordan or Fautanu in the first.  Jackson-Powers is a possible other pick but I just don't think they will draft a center and move him to Guard.  From a consensus public board ranking, Fautanu looks like the only trade up candidate.

Simililarly at the Edge position the only player that's a first round pick potentially is Latu.  There is seeming no interest in Verse.

CB has the most potential first round picks.  It looks to me that they are highly likely to take one of the first round CBs.  The question is whether they have one of them as much better than the others in terms of a trade up potential.
