Took a chance on some ShopRite deli wings. Never again. 🤮

On the Roman Wilson/Pearsall discussion- Wilson doesnt run very many routes at all. Hes used in a very specific way making him a projection in an NFL style offense. There are a bunch of guys this year who, if they end up in a Shannahan style offense they can be great when utilized properly. But Wilson running a full slot route tree is going to be a work in progress.

It might be really, really fast progress because he has all the tools and maybe its just something Michigan didnt do, more so than that he cant. I think thats likely the case. But just on film, he doesnt show you a lot of polish and route running experience. And it might take a bit to learn and develop.

Its been said that when Michigan needed a play, someone to keep them on track, needed a 1st down, the go to guy was actually Cornelius Johnson.

Pearsall has phenomenal ball tracking skills. And something of note- he has a very low drop percentage and you cant forget he played with Anthony Richardson who didnt quite make life easy for receivers. Inaccurate QB. Pearsall just caught everything and made his QBs look good. His YAC is in part limited due to QB play/ball placement.

His yards per route run were higher than some very notable players like Xavier Worthy, Brian Thomas, AD Mitchell... and others.

There are some guys who you can say will be good no matter which team they end up on. Like Marvin Harrison. And other guys who need something very specific like Corley.

Pearsall might be best staying in the slot but is a little less scheme/team specific. You can put him in the slot on any team and he can do anything and everything youd want your slot WR to do. Roman Wilson isnt on the same extreme as Corley, but hes going to need a bit more of a specific plan by his team to get him the ball. Its not enough to just say put him in the slot. Hes also going to need a very specific usage.

DJ really likes Junior Colson. Says he's a sleeper to sneak into the back end of the first round.

Ricky could be what Anthony Gonzalez was for Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne for AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith.

I think DeJean, WR (Pearsall, McConkey, Worthy, Franklin), Peyton Wilson is about as impactful as the first 3 picks can possibly be.

2 three level playmakers on the defense who can be all over the field on any given play, and a dynamic WR for the slot to put the offense ridiculously over the top.

Focus most of the rest on the lines.

I'm of the opinion that if they don't take an OT in round 1, I rather they not take one in day 2 unless Stoutland is super sure Guyton is going to be the next Lane Johnson or something. If they're going OT I want one of the best guys. If not, I'd rather just draft all guys who can play right now and figure out OT later. Spending a 2nd or 3rd rounder on an OT who won't play right away, but also isn't an elite prospect seems like an awful usage of resources.

Backup OT in years 1-2, starting in year 3, is a fine use of resources. OT is a premium position.

That Michigan defense was beyond elite and they will age well in the history books

They still got Will Johnson CB, Mason Graham, Kenneth Grant all 1st rounders next year. Rod Moore tore his ACL this spring and was another potential high pick.

That’s actually something I said to myself even watching Pearsall’s 2023 tape, "This Gators QB is awful; Pearsall is standing still or reaching backwards for almost every throw.”  He was definitely held back some by lacklustre QB play.

I couldn’t go back to trying to watch him catch passes from Richardson.  I had just eaten.

Starting isn't just good enough. Any OT they draft who isn't all pro caliber is not going to suffice for us, and more importantly for them. Like I said, if there's an OT in round 2 or 3 they think will be an all pro with some seasoning, fine. But if they don't feel that way, then forego that for another time and get a player that can impact the team now. I've been consistent that I only want them to add OT this draft if they feel they're getting an all pro caliber tackle with elite potential.

Is it just me or are there a lot of players out there with decent but unspectacular measurables who all end up with these RAS graphics of 9.98 as the best athlete in history?

A lot of players will not do things they're not good at (ex: agility drills), which artificially pushes them up.

Better than Cooper.

The most unrealistically sweet draft I've pulled off so far!

taking a player with a recent arrest for a driving offense every draft isn't usually a smart move.

I'm not paying attention to that,  but, look, Carter was good.   Generally would tend to agree.

Rare and good is good to me.   Eagles draft 366 pound DT means the Eagles can do super big OL even easier.

Cooper DeJean at 22.
Legette in 2nd as eventual replace of AJ Brown.

It would be good if the Eagles had a good defensive back.  Many bad defensive backs isn't as helpful as at least one good db,  to go with slightly above average dbs like Slay.  That seems like what the Eagles should do in the first.  With DeJean,  the Eagles have choices, like,  which one of the not good dbs does DeJean replace?

With Wiggins,  it could turn out that Wiggins can only play a certain position,  which happens to coincide with a position that one of the average (not bad) DBs plays.   Like Slay.  You wouldn't want a situation where Wiggins and Slay both do the same thing,  and only can do that one thing.  On the other hand,  Wiggins is 4.29,  and it's said that he's good at coverage.  And last year,  the Eagles did not have cbs who were good at coverage.  Some dbs were good at run support, blitzing,  tackling,  but coverage was something they were lacking.

It seems the more draft pundits I watch, read, or listen to the more I get the feeling there’s a consensus on who the top 15-20 picks will be.  Either that means those top players are phenomenal, or the draft isn’t especially top-heavy.  There are certain positions that are top-heavy — WR, OT, QB — but only WR appears deep, out of those three.

Some positions appear weaker than normal — RB, LB, S, DL.  I’m not even sure how strong a CB class this is.  It’ll be interesting to see what Howie does with those first 3 picks.  My assumption for the top 15-20:

QB (4) — Williams, Daniels, Maye, McCarthy

OT (5) — Alt, Fautanu, Latham, Fuaga, Fashanu

WR (3) — Harrison, Nabers, Odunze

DE (3) — Turner, Verse, Latu

DT (2) — Newton, Murphy

CB (2) — Mitchell, Arnold

TE (1) — Bowers

Could have Penix go to a QB needy team, and maybe a team wants the best IOL prospect somewhere in there.  Seems to me, if the Eagles pick at 22 their choices would be among:

OT — Mims, Guyton

CB — Wiggins, DeJean, Kool Aid

WR — Thomas Jr

DL — Chop Robinson

The simulators are off on this guy, if he’s there at 120 you take him.

Hats off to the Flyers for their reenactment of the 2023 Eagles.

At least they way overperformed, the eagles way underperformed. The flyers should have been in the mix for a top 5 pick based on the roster

Bo Wulf said today if he had to make a prediction today for the Eagles guy at 22 it would be Guyton. He's starting to think project OT will be the guy based on the way the board might fall. He brought up what I think is the Eagles biggest dilemma facing them headed into the draft is, is it worth trading up and giving up a 2nd. Which leads me to 3 questions headed into Sunday and I think these will be the 3 big Eagles questions headed into next Thursday.

1) If you could trade up for Arnold or Mitchell but have to give up 50 or 53, would you rather have Arnold/Mitchell or Wiggins/DeJean + Cooper/Wilson/(insert whatever realistic target you like at 50 or 53 here).

2) Similarly, would you rather trade up to get JC Latham, Fautanu, possibly Fuaga and give up a 2nd or have Mims/Guyton + whoever at 50/53.

3) I don't know the Eagles grading system, but let's just use letter grades to simplify it. Would you rather have a G/T who grades as an A guard and a B tackle. Or a tackle who grades as an A tackle who doesn't play guard at all?

1)  Cooper DeJean,  after missing the combine and pro day, or just not running there,  was the pick.  The fact that he can play a number of different db positions where the alternative to DeJean could be someone who is bad is a great advantage. Also, consensus 1st team All American.   Now,  he's got data up on ras,  from where I don't know, but he's got the highest ras for a CB.   Now,  the concern is whether the Eagles might need to trade up to get him.   Good arguments can be made for Nate Wiggins.  Very fast + top coverage.  If the Eagles don't trade up,  they might miss on DeJean, and Wiggins might be seen as a viable option.   I can see the Eagles trading up for DeJean,  or not trading up, DeJean being available at 22, DeJean not being available,  and Wiggins either being available or not available.   If they're both gone,  maybe Brian Thomas Jr WR LSU might be available.
They could be considering a trade up for either DeJean or Mitchell, and wouldn't want that for Arnold.

2) None of that.

3) is it 2027?  has Lane retired?  last time I looked, it was 2024, and Lane was the starter, and signed through 2026.  Lane, the current RT that people are so worried about replacing, started week 1 of his rookie year.  The current LT never played football before getting drafted in the 7th round.   Fear, concern, or anything about Lane should have a value of 0% in 2024.   The Eagles do need replacements for Opeta and Driscoll.
