Y'all are talking about holdouts. I'm over here thinking -- have I missed the fact that Darius Slay was covering Darius Slayton all these years!? 

Maybe Slayton just doesn't want to play in NY anymore?  Most mocks have the Giants coming away from a receiver, and you still have Jones at QB.  Slayton might want to get away to someplace with an actual QB, and maybe someplace that he doesn't have to fight for playing time?

False equivalence on multiple levels.  Over drafting a guy with a 4th round grade in the 2nd round is what we were discussing - i.e. Matt McCoy.
Mining the depths of the draft eligible players to find a diamond in the rough from a small school, and selecting them in the 4th round is not the same thing as is being discussed.

Herremanns also went to a ridiculously small D-II school - Saginaw Valley State
McCoy went to a lower tier D-1A school - San Diego State

Combine is generally the place for bigger school players and players from smaller schools with more buzz about them.  San Diego State being a D-1A (Now, FBS school would mean that the Combine organizers would be very aware of him as a player - they invited Kirk Morrison, another LB from the same school that same year).   Were any Saginaw Valley State players invited to the Combine that year?  Only Herremanns was drafted that year.  FOUR draftees all-time.  And there's only been 15 players in the NFL from SVS all-time.

By comparison, San Diego State has had 166 players drafted alone, 202 players that made it in the NFL.  San Diego St. had 3 players drafted that year.   Long story short... Saginaw Valley isn't exactly a breeding ground for NFL talent.

He's a great player. If he weighed 15 pounds more he'd be a top-10 pick easily. Nobody in this draft will be better in coverage in the slot than he. His issue is in run support.

There's obviously a dropoff after pick 25 in this draft.
