He's a great player. If he weighed 15 pounds more he'd be a top-10 pick easily. Nobody in this draft will be better in coverage in the slot than he. His issue is in run support.

You’d be happy with him at 22?

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

So would all of their opponents.

Baldy's favorite LB is Wilson. Likes Edgerrin Cooper more than Colson. Said the way Cooper dominated when playing Alabama was so impressive. And how instinctual he looked when spying Daniels vs LSU.

Everyone seems to have different takes on Cooper.

I think if he was 15lbs heavier, he'd be getting Brian Branch hype - but even so he and Pitre went top-half of the 2nd.

No.

I heard Belichick interviewed recently (I forget where) and one thing that stuck with me is he mentioned that most of the "so and so has really impressed scouts and might sneak into the x,y,z round" talk is fed to the media by agents in the weeks leading up to the draft.

The draft is largely projection, Cooper has the physical tools so you can see what you want to see.  Personally, I don't think it takes a ton of instincts to spy a QB but he can click and close - I wish I saw that more in coverage.

yeah that was a funny statement by Baldy (who is not a talent evaluator. hes pretty bad at it). Instincts are not required to spy.

What is your best case scenario/worst case scenario for both Washington at #2 and NYG at #6? Best case meaning who you would want to see drafted that will fail and keep them in the basement of the division, worst case being a player that will be a cornerstone player for them.

I don't have a strong feeling for Washington. I guess I'd say Best - Daniels. Worst - Maye

For Giants, Best - McCarthy. Worst - Harrison Jr/Nabers

Washington take McCarthy and Giants take Odunze = best case. Don't think either will happen though.

Worst case is Daniels/Maye for both. Or Harrison Jr or Alt for the Giants.

A low key reason I'm annoyed we traded out 3rd rounder is that it makes a trade up into that 50ish range. It seems as if after round 2 the talent level drops a lot. Not great depth.

Dilemma: The players I'd be really happy with the Eagles getting in round 1 are playing that won't be there at 22 and trading up for them would significantly decrease my excitement for getting them.

Which wasn't the case for Carter and Devonta when they traded up for them. I'd love to get Mitchell, Arnold, even a guy like Fashanu to be Lane's future replacement, but if they traded up for them I'd be pretty meh about it because it'll cost a 2nd rounder.

I see very few scenarios where I'm really hyped about what happens in round 1. I think that's much more likely in round 2.

Random draft thoughts...

I think the Eagles want to trade up. When they traded down from 6, traded Carson Wentz, and subsequently made the Saints trade, they did so to ensure they got multiple blue chip players out of it. Jalen Carter and AJ Brown are direct results. Guessing they package 22 and one of the 2s if they can find a trade partner in the low/mid-teens. Arnold, Mitchell, or Latham would be the targets. Arnold and Latham make all the sense in the world.

I actually don't love the QB class. Williams has some really bad habits, hasn't won anything, and is a bit short. Sky high upside, I get it, but he falls well short of "generational." Maye is a mediocre at best QB in a stud QB's body. Daniels is probably my favorite, but I think he's gonna get suplexed every week and probably never play a full season. Glad they're all gonna push players down to the Eagles though.

McConkey and Pearsall ran pretty damn fast for how people talk about them. Would gladly take either in the 2nd, though McConkey will be long gone.

Malik Washington is my favorite round 3 and beyond guy. Dude is gonna shock some people if he plays with a good QB.

WIP afternoon show has become The Spike Eskin Show.  Ike reduced to a secondary host occasionally chiming in and Jack hardly heard from.

If we had a better personnel department, we might actually be able to find blue chip players after pick 14.   They exist, they are just harder to find.   The last 'stud' we found in Round 1 after pick 12 was Shawn Andrews... at #16.   Before that was Lito Sheppard, who made a Pro Bowl, but wasn't a true blue chipper, IMO.    Weirdly, we've found some blue chippers in Rounds 2 (Ertz, Dickerson), 3 (Westbrook), even 6 (Kelce)... but the second half of the first round has been a barren wasteland for some reason for seemingly forever.  The last real 'blue chipper' in that range for the Eagles would be Mike Quick... in 1982.  You'd think over 40+ years... there'd be a hit or two from pick 15-28/32 that qualifies as a blue chipper.

As such... I fully support trading up or back.   Standing pat just has the stench of draft failures over the decades that I almost am forced to conclude the player will mostly be a bust... and best case scenario just be a marginal starter for a couple years.

Rodgers not included in the list. Doesn't mean he won't be reinstated.

I'd bring in Cephus for a look.

Ok…

Can Isaiah Rodgers win the Nasty Nate award this year? I've never seen a fanbase so obsessed over just some dude before.

Thoughts on trading back from 22 to 25 with Green Bay who might want one of the Big OT's?  I did 22, 53, and 171 for 25, 41, and 126.  i think that 41 spot could be great for someone like Rakestraw, McConkey, Suamataia.  I still really like Newton a lot to replace the loss of Cox.  If Steen is getting the start at RG then i think 2nd round is better of IOL.

He'll be reinstated, but is no lock to make the team.

Doesn't seem to be just a timing issue either

Weird situation. Based on Howie and Luries comments on him you'd think there was no question he would be reinstated and they both should know more than anyone.

People are so desperate to make anything AJ Brown does into a controversy. It's really stupid.

Look how easy it is to sucker him in
