Eric All is a very good TE. Day two pick. No way he goes at 220.

Just displaying my draft ignorance.

He's good.

I wouldn't be surprised with round 3 but possibly later.  All depends on how teams view the medical on him.

Ok I love the Barkley deal

Speaking of TE's I've been thinking a lot lately that is actually a decent need for the Eagles with Goedert possibly entering his last season here. Who are some people they could take in round 4 or 5 with starters upside? I doubt they take one before that.

I just see no way we use another 1 on a DT

Cox did play 684 snaps last year so do need to replace those.  Gotta hope Jalen Carter can eat more of those but you can also put Newton and or Carter at DE as well.  Williams is on last year of his deal.  I think Newton goes before 22 anyway but do think he will be a stud in this league

Maybe Eric All if his medical drops him that far.  He's starting caliber.

Tip Reimann, Theo Johnson, Tanner McLachlan, Dallin Holker

Not super confident in thos guys becoming above average starters,  but they should be ok.

Some sleepers

Eric Watts, DE, Connecticut

One of the freakiest height-weight-speed athletes in the draft, Watts has near 36-inch arms at 6-6, 274 and ran in the 4.6s at the NFL Scouting Combine. He's a bit stiff with his rush and will need seasoning with his hands, but he is extremely undervalued right now given his upside.

Bayron Matos, OT, South Florida

A walk-on at USF who played college basketball, Matos has almost no experience and would need a long runway. His traits are drawing scouts to take a look because of a frame -- 6-7, 313, 35-inch arms -- and light feet indicating he'll grow into football. Matos ran a 4.92 at his pro day.

Jaylon Carlies, LB/S, Missouri

Carlies should be getting more attention. He's the ideal modern-day linebacker with height, weight, length and speed teams covet. His instincts are still in the works, but ceilings don't get much higher for late-rounders.

Carlies seems like a Howie special - 6 foot 3 and 227 pounds.  4.5 40 with 20 reps on the bench.  Gotta think Howie will put him from S to LB

I posted about him a while back but what do you think of Jared Wiley from TCU?

Are they the best of the rest after Bowers, Sanders, Stover, and Sinnot

Sinnott is probably #4 after Stover. I didn't include him because I think hes gone before round 4.

After that,  the guys I named are the best of the rest.

Not sure honestly.  I'm pretty sure I checked him out and just don't remember him.

I'll have to go back to that and see if I can rank him.

IMO the best TE in the draft.  Scouting him has to be terrible though…NFL scouts probably falling asleep watching that O.

Better than Bowers?

Crushed this one.. Unrealistic you bet

So do any of you guys do these things or am I the only one?

a) count the number of hours until the start of the draft and then count backward the same number of hours to see what you were doing at that time. For example, "Oh, that was the other night and I was watching some movie. That wasn’t really that long ago. That’s the same amount of time between now and the draft. That wasn’t be that long of a wait!”

b) Play the "next time” game. For instance, when you take your garbage to the curb for pickup, you say to yourself "Cool, the NEXT time I take my garbage down, I’ll know who the Eagles picked!”

Just me, huh?

And we are now under 150 hours to go. Under 149 actually. Probably on the clock in about 152. We’re getting there.

On some occasions, I do option B. Those thoughts do enter my head at times.

What does everyone think of Elijah Jones?  Older CB prospect (turned 24 in in January).  Good sized at 6 foot 2 but only 185 pounds.    7 interceptions and 22 pass deflections total over the past 2 years.  4.44 40 with 42.5 vert

Good Day 3 value.  Probably is what he is at 24.

Agree.  But some people will read it as such.  And trading Brown doesn't make a whole bunch of sense right now.

If a similar type WR is drafted next week, then next year, trading Brown makes a whole ton of sense.

I'm not sure it would make sense even then.

Not in mine. However, it doesnt mean hes not either. How many times has a player been unavailable, trade inquiries rejected. Then hes traded. Seems like plenty.

You've gotta look at the whole picture, not just the players but the next 4-5 years. AJ Brown's cap number is $12.6 million and jumps to $26 million next year then $41 million in 2026,when he's 29 years old. he's not seeing that contract as an Eagle. He's either traded or extended.

CJ Stroud's contract at pick 3 last year was 4 year $36 million contract with 5th year option, with cap hits of $6 million, $8 million, $9.9 million and $11 million.

So you could possibly get Marvin Harrison Jr., who will be 22 when the season starts at half the cost to replace AJ Brown, who is 27 in a few months.

AJ Brown should be extended

My best guess is AJ Brown will be extended. I believe the Eagles when they say he's not available.

We hear all the time about "culture." AJ Brown is a large part of the culture the Eagles have been developing. Here are some hints for people that haven't figured it out:

Something I could see happening. If Howie wants to move up for a corner and the cost would be 22 plus a 2nd, he might call Denver and think if I'm offering 22 and a 2nd for Arnold/Mitchell I might as well call Denver and offer that same package for Surtain. Don't know if Denver would do it though.

The thing with Surtain is now you have to make him the number 1 paid CB in the league. I'm not against it don't get me wrong but you have to weigh Surtain plus a major extension vs Arnold/Mitchel on a fresh new rookie deal. That rookie deal has major benefits.

Pat Kerwin and Jim Miller both seemed high on him when they interviewed him.  Seemed like a mature kid.

Former HS QB who transferred from Texas for his final 2 years.  Big target at 6'6" 260 lbs and is a hand catcher.  Seems to find open spots in the zones.  Knock on him is that he goes down too quick for his size in RAC and, while say he has good technique, could use some more lower body strength in blocking

Watts seems like an ideal 3-4 end if we are really going that way

Matos is a Stoutland U fit

Scenario: while fortunate that 5 QBs went in the top-20, there was a run on OL ahead of our pick. The following are available:

WR: Thomas, AD

OL: JPJ, Barton, Guyton, Seumataia

DB: Dejean, Wiggins, Kool-aid

DL: Newton, Murphy, Chop

Or anybody #20 or above on the PFN big board aside from Nix and Penix (ie, the field).

Who do you take?

(or using Howie’s preternatural ability to read the board, you can trade a 2nd for Mitchell, Arnold, Mims, Latham, Verse or Latu).

Bohm with two 3-run home runs. 🥶

Yeah, but kind of backwards rationalized, isn’t it?

In the moment, with no idea I could get EA at 220, I’d be looking for a TE in the 80’s-120’s type of range.
