I like Newton a lot. I know people would be upset with a DT high but I'd be fine with him.

At 35, he’d have to be BPA right.

These look awful. For one, I hate the matte helmets they're much worse than gloss. But Broncos uniforms were fine and all these new uniform designs look exactly the same, they look like something made in paint shop pro.

The Broncos need to completely lose the blue as anything but a sleeve accent

I don't know why Nike can't ever get jersey colors right. They can never get the right shades down. The blue in the uniforms look black. The Eagles midnight green still isn't right.

Maxey sick... Jo Jo banged up as per tradition. Looking like a typical Sixers post season.

Schefter:

If Roseman wants a cornerback at No. 22, as many people around the league believe he could, he might have to move up again. Per sources, he already has been calling around, gauging what a trade up might look like to be prepared for what has become a near-annual tradition. It's also worth noting Roseman, who has been Philly's GM since 2010, has never drafted a corner, tight end, running back or safety in Round 1.

Daily reminder that Brandon Graham was not a great draft pick.

Probably 1 of only a few jokes that you can do with Golden Child Tom Brady. The other is around finance (ie FTX) and Giselle.

Frankly, I would also call Denver and see what it would take to get Patrick surtain. I don’t think it’s remotely realistic that they could get him but worth making the phone call. But if their asking price is actually within what you’re willing to pay you might be better off doing that. He’s still young and you have enough cap space to absorb him. Add on we haven’t exactly crushed it in our drafting corner albeit none in the first round. Douglas, mills and Maddox are the best we have drafted and developed in the last decade and I’d argue Douglas didn’t develop into what he is now here. And Maddox is frankly overrated.

It's the wrong shade of blue. The one in their helmets in the 80s would make a good one. Not that navy crap.

They won't have to move up for a CB; they may feel they'll have to move up if they feel Mitchell or Arnold is significantly better than Wiggins or McInstry.  I don't.

I don't see any measurable difference at all in the top 4-5 CB prospects in this draft.  Wiggins is the best cover CB, McInstry is very good in coverage and has versatility.  Versatility is DeJean's calling card.  Arnold has also shown the ability to play inside or outside.  I think it all depends on what flavor of CB they're looking for.

Howie always makes the inquiries on trade-up cost.  I'm surprised not all GMs do.  He'll have a draft diagram that looks like a snakes-and-ladders board.  These are the places we can climb and the cost.  These are the places we can move down and the cost.  That way he's ready to adjust to what the board looks like in real time.

It's really not that hard. Make this your primary uniform with an away version.

Just wear their throwbacks full time or at least use the old logo on the helmet. That would fix it.

Versatility matters for pro bowl foundational players and it matters for backups.  No one else is moving around the field routinely.  Elite corners may trail elite WRs all over the field.  Elite offensive weapons move around the field.  Elite DL may move inside and outside often.

And backups move all over as needed.

Considering our drafting history, why not throw versatility out the window and get someone who does a job really well in the secondary?

Because versatility matters. Unless you're Brandon Graham, a bust.

The storytelling is the absolute worst. I can't believe this is what they came up with after ALL of their research. What in the world is that helmet stripe?

I didn’t call him a bust.

A majority of Eagles' draft misses high in the draft were on players who could only play one position/role (Dillard, Reagor, M. Smith, etc). Even Jordan Davis is a NT only at this point, lowering his value. With Carter/Cox/Williams he hasn't really needed to play 3-4 DE or 3-Tech.

I think the argument would be that versatility is the job we would ask our nickel DB to do really well.

If they’re lined up in the slot, you have to cover the WR or TE in the passing game but also be able to play the run well because you are on the line of scrimmage and only a few yards outside the box of the front 6. If you are deficient in one of those areas, then that is a weakness the defense will target to exploit.

The beauty of DeJean is that you get a big, muscular guy who can tackle who can also cover. So his presence removes a weakness that a replacement player would have. Schematically, he makes the entire defense better. Then you add that DeJean is a ball hawk who creates turnovers, and I totally get the first round appeal.

Solak's mock is very interesting. Let's assume for a minute he's right...

Hypothetical: The Eagles trade up to pick 17. Dallas Turner, Quinyon Mitchell, Olu Fashanu, Troy Fautanu, Amarius Mims, Cooper DeJean are still on the board. Who are you hoping for in that moment?

There’s a zero % chance they ask him to model this if there was any possibility he’s no longer on the roster 2 weeks later. It was a longshot to begin with, but this is the nail IMO
