Howie always makes the inquiries on trade-up cost.  I'm surprised not all GMs do.  He'll have a draft diagram that looks like a snakes-and-ladders board.  These are the places we can climb and the cost.  These are the places we can move down and the cost.  That way he's ready to adjust to what the board looks like in real time.

I’m sure they all do that…even the Cowboys (though I doubt it’s Jerry himself that is making those inquiries).  I could believe that Howie may take this process to a much more thorough level, but it would be just complete incompetence not to do it at all

Solak's mock is very interesting. Let's assume for a minute he's right...

Hypothetical: The Eagles trade up to pick 17. Dallas Turner, Quinyon Mitchell, Olu Fashanu, Troy Fautanu, Amarius Mims, Cooper DeJean are still on the board. Who are you hoping for in that moment?

Turner. He should develop into a consistent double digit sack guy.

The storytelling is the absolute worst. I can't believe this is what they came up with after ALL of their research. What in the world is that helmet stripe?

Yeah these new uniforms suck ass. I don't understand how teams continue to come up with the worst ideas and designs.

It amazes me that those idiots actually came up with those lame ideas and thought that would make a great uniform.

I hate them and will not waste a penny on that garbage.

The throwbacks were the obvious correct decision. Even the friggin Jets were smart enough to do that.

1.  Mitchell

2.  Fautanu

3.  Turner

4.  Fashanu

5.  Mims

6.  DeJean

Neither 5and 6 should even require a trade-up.  Those would both be "What the hell?!" picks.

Probably 1 of only a few jokes that you can do with Golden Child Tom Brady. The other is around finance (ie FTX) and Giselle.

Crazy hot take...

If the Sixers lose tonight, they lose in no more than 5.    If they win tonight, they win in 6.

Lol just seeing that without the text above when opening the thread was something else

Then let's hope for a Sixers loss so we can properly focus on the Eagles.

I think the argument would be that versatility is the job we would ask our nickel DB to do really well.

If they’re lined up in the slot, you have to cover the WR or TE in the passing game but also be able to play the run well because you are on the line of scrimmage and only a few yards outside the box of the front 6. If you are deficient in one of those areas, then that is a weakness the defense will target to exploit.

The beauty of DeJean is that you get a big, muscular guy who can tackle who can also cover. So his presence removes a weakness that a replacement player would have. Schematically, he makes the entire defense better. Then you add that DeJean is a ball hawk who creates turnovers, and I totally get the first round appeal.

He would definitely help cover up our propensity to ignore the LB position so that probably moves him up the list.

Can someone like Kevin Hart who dresses up in dresses for comedic effect really roast someone for this? lol

There’s a zero % chance they ask him to model this if there was any possibility he’s no longer on the roster 2 weeks later. It was a longshot to begin with, but this is the nail IMO

I’d put at 1%. Cause I don’t think it’s ever 0%. Unless your Patrick Mahomes. i believe the Sixers had Ben Simmons jerseys in their city connect reveal then traded him. They again it’s the Sixers who have had stories like that.

Mitchell is the best player and provides a long-term fix.  Dallas Turner may be the best potential prospect but I think pass rushers like him take time to develop. He's not a developed pass rusher.  He is going to win athletically at times but get washed out at times. He's under 250 lbs and 6'2.  He's fast but he's built like an ILB.  The risk in him not developing as a player is significant.  Mitchell will be a solid starter to a potential lock down CB.

TBH the Sixers winning a playoff series is the craziest take.

These look awful. For one, I hate the matte helmets they're much worse than gloss. But Broncos uniforms were fine and all these new uniform designs look exactly the same, they look like something made in paint shop pro.

If this was an expansion team is at they're nothing wrong with these.

But for the broncos, this is a downgrade.  I get that their old ones came out when I was in like 4th grade.  But they were still better.

They look like UTSA now.

We all know who the face of the Broncos is

Well, I did leave the door open that they won't.  ;)   So, my take is only partially crazy.

I don't follow college, I'm not a draftnik, etc.  What have they been projecting Cincinnati to take in the first?  Because if it wasn't DE, it sounds like that may the pick given this.

Bengals DE Sam Hubbard had extensive ankle surgery

CINCINNATI -- Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Sam Hubbard is feeling fortunate following an injury that was more severe than was initially believed.

A right ankle issue that kept him out of two games last season required significant offseason surgery. On Monday, Hubbard said that he had a complete deltoid reconstruction in his ankle and a TightRope procedure to repair the ankle.

"I'm thankful that I made it out with no cartilage damage and stuff like that, but it's all fixed," Hubbard said.

The seventh-year player out of Ohio State said the issue bothered him as early as training camp in 2023. However, it became more severe later in the year. He appeared to aggravate the injury in a Week 9 win over the Buffalo Bills and missed the next two games.

At the end of the season, a fluoroscopy revealed that it wasn't a routine ankle sprain.

"There was a lot of instability (in the ankle) that we found out later," Hubbard said." "Probably should have been fixed earlier, but you didn't know until we went in there."

The reason he played through the issue, he said, was to give the Bengals a better shot of winning in the absence of quarterback Joe Burrow.

Up until that point, Hubbard said he was playing at career-high levels. Through the first nine weeks of 2023, Hubbard ranked 28th in the NFL in pass rush win rate as an edge rusher (ESPN metric powered by NFL Next Gen Stats). From when he returned to the field on Week 12 until the end of the season, Hubbard ranked 49th out of 54 players in that category.

"I kind of wanted to just be out there and was doing the best I could," Hubbard said. "I did want to burn that film from the back half of the year, but I'm going to get back to my old self. Got a long offseason of work ahead and I'm excited to be back with the guys."

I just keep seeing the Denver Bears

Take a few minutes and read about the process. If the Eagles ever get new uniforms, we're going to have soft pretzels and cheesesteaks on them.

I've seen Bowers a lot if he slides. Bengals are the popular stopping point.

Yup.

He's even stated a couple times that it's important to get the prices to move up/back ironed out before the draft.  There isn't enough time while on the clock to do that type of negotiation.

Howie calling folks isn't breaking news any more than Howie stacking a draft board would be.

just as likely to be a big bust as well.
