Whose going to stop that QB room in the NFL?

Themselves, probably.

I agree in general: there are a bunch of OTs and you could argue a lot of different orders to rank them.

That said, I think there is a greater chance Latham goes higher than expected than lower. He's huge, strong, has long arms, a low center of gravity, and he can move.

The measurables are a top tier prospect - what I cannot say as I'm not that into what pro scouts will think. We know teams look at the same player differently, and may value Latham less than another prospect.  That said, I would assume his floor to drop is not near enough for a low cost trade up for the Birds.

Off a cliff? Sure....might as well hit rock bottom in style.

According to

, one of the biggest #NFLDraftNFLDraft_2024.png day odds movers has been Texas DT Byron Murphy II who is now 3/1 to be a top 10 pick. Previously, those odds were 11/1. There has been buzz that he could be the first defender selected and that the #Bears are in play.

This to me indicates why an OT could fall more than we think.  Teams don't think as we do. If I get time tomorrow, I'll scrape some rosters to see who may wriggle out of the top 10/15 based on other positional need.

Price is still way too high.

Don't know if they could even give those away.

Don't worry guys, no matter who the Broncos have at QB, they always climbing.

Alarmingly bad QB class in 2025. Sanders is likely the best of the group.

Rest are meh:

Quinn Ewers

Drew Allar

Cade Klubnik

Now, 2026 is shaping up to be a special class.

I like KJ Jefferson, he's not a first rounder or anything but big running QB who will be at UCF with Gus Malzahn after maybe 6 years at Arkansas.

There's a lot of stuff going around right now where who knows if there are leaks or any reliable sourcing whatsoever.  I read today that if Drake Maye is the QB on the board at #3 the Vikings will make a huge offer to New England for that move (#11 to 3).  The quote was "a Bryce-type offer"

That would indicate something close to two 1sts and two 2nds.  Problem is -- Minnesota have #11 and 23, but no 2nd or 3rd round picks.  So, are they throwing in a 2025 1st and 2nd?  They don't have a 2nd round pick in 2025, either.  This could be a problem.

Yeah, climbing up an escalator that's going down.

Thinking more and more Howie sticks and picks at 22.  Too many guys we've been linked to should be there - Wiggins, DeJean, McKinstry, Mims, Guyton, Powers-Johnson, Suamataia, Barton, even Verse, etc.

Now in the 2nd round, that's where I think Howie could get aggressive if someone falls.  The spend is less, and with both 50 and 53 sitting there, he can maneuver there a lot better.  Maybe he makes a move up into the 40's to snag someone, then uses the other pick to trade back and recoup some picks.

50 and 53 for some teams 2nd and 3rd?   It should be fairly easy from a Jimmy Johnson perspective.

Eagles (770)
400 - 50
370 - 53

Chargers (775)
530 - 37
245 - 69

So, maybe someone the Chargers want at 37 is gone before 37,  and they're confident they can get their 2nd choice at 30.   And someone the Eagles want but don't think they can get at 50 is available at 37.

I’m guessing pick 1 will be a pass rusher. Think I’m gonna bet on it

Not unless Latu somehow slips to us.

Second round, real possibility.  Braswell and Kneeland are super interesting on day 2.

It's a shame there isn't a Ernie Hudson gene test for the players in the draft because they could play longer than Brady. The guy is freaking 78, has had cancer twice, and looks better than people in their 40s.

I think Howie trades up. He said in his PC he loves trades and it's fun. The last 2 years, he's traded up. He traded up for Jordan Davis, giving up 3 additional mid round draft picks just to get him and he's a JAG (so far). He won't be able to help himself, he'll trade up.

I'd say this is surprising... but it's not.     It's not even this year.   It's every year.   Embiid can't stay healthy for a full season AND the playoffs.  Is it all bad luck, or bad conditioning, or something else?   Every single time the playoffs roll around, he's dealing with something.  It's old at this point.

I hate to say it... but they might need to just end it, and move on this offseason.  Build around Maxey, and see what you can do to get back into contention before his prime passes him by.

They won’t do it cause of the cap space they have. Gonna try to go all in like going after another star like PG. Not even disagreeing with you cause the haul for Embiid and if he can’t stay healthy then better to do it now then when he hits his decline.

frankly i believe we had some bad karma from the tanking. Not so much the tanking itself but the glorifying it

Embiid is soft and oblivious.  When he uttered that crap about 'him and James can't do everything', the organization should have had their eyes opened.

22 and 53 for 17 (Latham) and Muma... Any interest?

That’s a bit too much to go up six spots

Edit…I admittedly missed the ‘Muma’ part the first time I read your post.  I don’t claim to know enough about him to know whether or not he would make up the difference.

How much stock do you put into the Eagles saying they want those first 3 selections to be players that can start right away and not be projects? Would really limit a lot of the options even at 22

Did they actually say this? I guess I would not be shocked if they did. But everything is just words at this point. Obviously that would be the best case scenario. But not even the great Howie knows how the draft will actually fall.

100% guarantee Embiid has that sickness by next game. And then tries to play with 1 knee, blind in 1 eye, and 0 energy from the flu.

I actually think that an edge rusher could be a possibly overlooked round 1 target of theirs.  Most of us are expecting either an OT or a CB.  But we really do not know what Fangio thinks about Nolan Smith. Yes we added Huff, but we also lost Reddick… and it is obviously Graham‘s last season.  They prioritize the lines..  It would not shock me, depending on how the board fell

I defended Embiid over the years when everyone called him a loser, I said it's hard to play with the injuries he's played with, and I stand by this, but this year is a little different and I'm beginning to lose my patience. He told Lisa Salters that his knee is structurally fine and it's just "sore" and he doesn't quite trust it. It's the playoffs, dude. Suck it up. I'm so sick of seeing other NBA teams have their stars play hurt and carry their teams to deep playoff runs, but with Embiid when he's hurt we just have to accept that he'll be a shell of himself.

How about just one time sacking up, putting your team on your back even when you're hurting, and putting up 45 and 15? Instead of "Well, he only had 22 points and 6 boards and shot 7/25 from the field, but he gave it all he could...."

LeBron took the Lakers to a conference finals last year with a bad ankle. Giannis won a title with the Bucks with a bone bruise in his knee. Everyone is dealing with something this far into the season. I'm tired of the excuses.

Yeah I can't remember which press conference it was but Howie said something to the effect that they wanted the first 3 picks to be players that could play right away and not have to sit behind someone.

What is this post?  How has he not sucked it up?  He was +14 in that game while the team was -21 when he was off the floor.  What kind of ignorance is this to blame Embiid?
