  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

At this point, between Hall, and Rodgers, I like our situation at Nickel.

Now, the CB drafted in round 1 to me becomes more of a must that he is able to play outside at a high level.

It makes someone like Wiggins, or McKinstry more likely.

At the same time, Hall and Rodgers shouldnt preclude us from adding a player the caliber of DeJean.

So maybe in a way- nothing changes.

I thought Rodgers was more of an outside corner than a slot?

Trading up for Dallas Turner, book it.

He was.  That's probably due to the colts having an all star nickel CB already in Kenny Moore.

Rodgers is built more for the slot. I think that's why people assumed he would play there despite his experience on the outside.

Interesting. If the Eagles view him as a slot, then that puts CB back on the board for me.

Slay, RD1/2 Corner, Ringo, Ricks and Jobe (for special teams) on outside. Rodgers and Maddox for the slot. That's actually a material improvement over last year. Have Ringo and the rookie battle for CB2.

We also have CJGJ who could drop into the slot if need be, with Blankenship and Brown at safety.

That first one would have been great if you got some OL talent at 76 or 122.

Just did an all 32 1st rounder flyer. Probably will only get 25-30 correct

So with Rodgers officially back, here is where we stand at CB it seems:

Locks to be on roster: Slay, Rodgers, Ringo

Need to have a slot corner: One of Maddox, McPhearson or Hall. Assume it is Maddox

So that's 4, and let's say they carry 6-7. Leaves 2-3 spots for: Ricks, Jobe, McPhearson, Hall, Bradberry and Garner (ignoring Goodrich and Mullen as having no chance). Assume the backup slot needs to be Hall or McPhearson, and now its 1-2 spots. I think they like Ricks, and Jobe is a core special teamer.

Basically, Rodgers being officially back makes me think OL is more likely in round 1, unless they take someone they believe can be the starting slot (DeJean).

I haven’t been paying attention at all really so I don’t know the prospects, but I feel like it’s going to be an edge rusher in round 1. Felt that way the second Reddick was traded.

We could use another edge rusher but we don't need one in the 1st.  We already have Smith and we just paid a bag to Huff.

A Kneeland or Braswell type of player in the 2nd?  Absolutely.  Someone with upside that we don't have to immediately throw onto the field.

Sadly I think you're right

He is. He’s barely played slot in college or the NFL.

Also, very odd that the NFL didn’t just reinstate Rodgers last week with everyone else.

They posted a Georgia one yesterday.

I think the "generational talent" guys are slowly going the way of the dinosaur. The overall training, development approach and rule changes closed a lot of the gap between the naturally gifted and the next best prospect. I don't think were ever going to see another Peyton Manning type prospect. The next generational QB will be just some prospect who managed to take a big leap post draft like Mahomes.

Totally disagree. I think it’s going to be the opposite — basically that the coaching and training will take what would normally be a Michael Vick or Anthony Richardson type of prospect with otherworldly physical tools and deliver them as a finished product to the NFL. Sort of a more physically talented Andrew Luck.

A Mike Vick that actually studied the game instead of solely relying on his physical abilities likely wins multiple rings

Bold trade at #3!

I think the Commies pick Drake Maye #2, though.  There is bad blood between them and Jayden Daniels already.

I will also be pissed if the Giants end up with Malik Nabers, who's probably the best WR in this draft.  (Harrison gets love because of his bloodlines...)

Fine with Mims Latu or a corner

Very nice. Nothing but year 1 contributors except maybe Richardson.  But he may be a future star so that's OK.

Participate.  Give me more work to do.  Notice,  it's a 5 star thread.
