Actually, I was quoting Nietzsche.

My favorite Nietzsche I learned in my Logic class.  Actually, I think this just proves the existence of football gods   Read this as a proof.

"But let me reveal my heart entirely unto you, my friends: if there were gods, how could I endure it not to be a god! Hence there are no Gods. Though I drew this conclusion, now it draws me.”

I just can’t picture the Eagles trading up for a CB. Any CB worth trading up 10 spots for will probably go top 10, imo.

Also - if the Broncos like Nix enough to take him at 22, they should take him at 12.

Eh there are a lot of teams that will be going for QB WR or OL in that top 10 range so I'm not sure about that.

That would pretty much kill master of the draft.  However, if we came away with one of the top 2 or 3 receivers in this draft that would not make me mad at all.

Harrison Jr, Nabers and Odunze are going to go higher than I can see the Eagles trading up. So that pretty much just leaves Thomas as a trade up target.

I like him but I just don't see it.

If they traded up to get a wr feel like the writing is on the wall that aj brown is likely gone sometime between 2025 and 2026.

Yeah. It would be really dumb to trade up for him.

Which is idiotic on the surface of things.  But this is why pure numbers never work other than indicators, and you need the Data Information Knowledge Wisdom Pyramid to make more informed decisions.

Is it though? If you draft a good player and don't retain them past their rookie contract that ultimately wasn't a great pick for the organization in terms of service. Similarly if you draft a good player and he gets hurt towards the end of their rookie contract and isn't retained that's a miss too. Or what if the rookie is some what of a late bloomer or was playing behind an entrenched starter but you don't retain them after the rookie contract and they go on to be a star. If you only get 3-4 years out of a 1st round pick that sounds like a miss to me. Could be a fun 3-4 years but now you're 1st rounder is no more and your return on investment is minimum.

The OL success rate is striking.

I ran those numbers for QB a couple of years ago, but used "played on a second contract with the team" and the number was a lot lower -- closer to 20%.  Perhaps there was more than Wentz and Goff who signed second contracts but were moved, but 46% does not look right to me.

What a monster waste of resources that would be given the OTs and CBs that would be available to them.

Moving up from 5th round to 3rd for Wilson works for me.

The obvious criticism is that "signed a second contract with their originally drafted team" is a misleading statistic.   By that measure, Derek Barnett and Carson Wentz were hits, but AJ Brown was a miss for Tennessee.

I'm genuinely surprised that there's been 12 centers picked in the first round.

That would be an expensive move. Unless you meant a move up from round 4.

Re: Eagles smoke. A lot of our plans have leaked the last two years. You just have to separate fact (trying to trade up for a CB) from fiction (trading up for WR)

Forgot we have a 4th. Even better.

OK. Now I've heard it all.

By now we should know Howie talks to everyone, and that any leaks are deliberate and designed to obfuscate.

He's going to trade up for a CB, no a WR, no an OT, wait, he's talking about trading down . . .

All smoke

It's really not a secret the organization will have certain players they like and then trade up for them.

Now there's your smoke

He also said he wants the Eagles to go offense with the first 3 picks

For those of you who want some good tea. Rickey was first on a lot of free agency moves.

I think all of these are pretty obvious though.  The Turds Dr. did the procedure on Brooks, so he's their likely pick at #56 .... unless someone grabs him from in front, which I doubt.

I hate all the QB talk dominating this cycle of all qbs taken 1 will pan out at most 2 like every year and nobody knows which one that will be. 🤣

I'm fine with this. I don't want to redshirt our 1st round pick (unless they can play RG) with a win-now roster. We can compete if we hit on our 1st two picks and maybe make a trade later this year.
