I still do think they move up for a CB, but I am starting to wonder if it's really for a o-lineman.

Smitty deal is already a steal. Love it.

A somewhat interesting discussion on their thoughts on the Eagles first round mainly, but overall outlook for the defense.

I agree with Jon Ritchie that Latham, Mitchell, and Arnold should be their focus if the plan is to trade up.  I believe one of those guys will be available at #16, so with that in mind I wouldn't want to trade up higher than that.  My guess is that Latham might go top 10 and Arnold might go before Mitchell.

If the Eagles had any kind of decent track record picking at the #20-24 slot I would prefer they stay at #22 because I think there will be a very good player there -- but does Howie dare take another swing and miss there?

Yup, the contracts he and Mailata signed were essentially "we want to be Eagles and we want to win football games" deals. Both guys sacrificed 10s of millions of dollars.

Math time...

4 QBs, 3 top WRs, 6 OTs (Alt, Latham, the 3 Fs, Mims), Turner, Verse, Murphy should all go early.  Bowers, Thomas Jr., and Latu may go top 20 as well.

That's 19 names before you get to CB.

Do you trade into the mid teens for Mitchell/Arnold or make a smaller trade up/stay at #22 for DeJean?

St Brown no joke tho

ESP on the radio saying JJ McCarthy is the 2nd beat QB in the draft.

This is the point I was making yesterday. I don't think that talent gap between Mitchell/Arnold/DeJean/Kool-Aid is great enough to warrant trading up. One of them will be there at 22 if CB is the direction the Eagles go.

I really don't think CB is their target though. Yes, none of them are 1st round talents, but the Eagles have Kellee Ringo, Eli Ricks, Isaiah Rodgers, Josh Jobe and Zech McPhearson on the outside behind Slay and Bradberry. They have Tyler Hall and Avonte Maddox in the slot. Those names might not excite any of us, but it's about par for the course as far as what the Eagles invest at CB.

I think they view Ringo and Rodgers as CB1 and CB2 of the future with Ricks and Jobe/McPhearson as the main backups.

Howie wins again getting the DeVonta deal done first.

See something like that is why you don't trade up. Move back a few spots, get some of the picks to send to the Saints, and get DeJean if he falls or a Wiggins/Kool-Aid

He's probably right.

Hope CeeDee pushes for 35M/Y.

Counterpoint, Fletcher Cox left the building last month and nobody thinks we have a hole at DT, even though he took the majority of the snaps last year and the rest of the DT's were already here? We are literally a starting DT down and Carter and Davis offered ample evidence last year that there is no way on this Earth that they pick up all Cox's snaps, but the bigger need is grooming the replacement of a guy who says he wants to play 2 more years?

Carter was already better Cox last year.  I'm much higher on Jordan Davis than anyone else here.  I think we actually have a good set of young DTs beyond that which I'm excited to see get to play a bit more with Cox now gone.

I made a similar argument a couple of days ago.  This draft is too deep at OL to pick a CB in the first.

However, seeing the tweets about teams looking to trade up into the first tier of OL, maybe sit at 22, take a first-round-worthy CB, and then look to day two for an OL - knowing that Stout can lift his floor and ceiling.

How much would Lattimore cost?

Good to see Reggie Bush get his Heisman back. Those Pete Carroll led USC teams were something special to watch. Reggie Bush is one of the best, if not best college football players I've ever watched.

In an ideal setting, the saints would never want to move on from him. This is purely a cost cutting exercise for them, as such I can’t imagine they would turn down a 2 if that was their best offer

Given Lattimore's age and injury history, if Snead went for a 3rd+, Lattimore would go for less.
