I wouldnt be excited to see the Giants get Penix.

He was an inaccurate running QB at Indiana. He went to Washington and became the best pocket passer in the draft. Then he reminded people at his pro day that hes still a really good athlete too.

He has an elite arm. Good accuracy, and + athleticism.

He may struggle a bit under pressure but its also important to remember, hes only been in a more advanced offense for a few years after leaving Indiana where he was just a runner.

I think people act like hes a finished product. Its important to remember he has had very little time to develop QB skills, and still has a lot of development yet to happen.

Hes good. And I think he can be scary good with a few more years with pro coaching.

Of course if the Giants draft him, that probably means he actually sucks. But I just dont think he does.

Penix is a bad fit for the Giants.  What concerns me most about him is he holds the ball and wants to makes the downfield throw too often.  Behind a bad offensive line that is a recipe for disaster.

What a rollercoaster of a tweet

Coming out with that the night before the draft is Aaron Rodgers-level d’baggery.

Remember when Rodgers pulled that crap on the Packers the night before the 2021 draft, when the Niners had the 3rd overall pick?

Today is the day in 1996 that Ray Lewis was drafted by the Ravens at 26. The team that passed on him at 25? Us. But we drafted Brian Dawkins as the last pick in the second round. In an alternate universe somewhere we draft both Lewis and Dawkins amd win the next 10 Super Bowls.

Seems a little conflicting. If 4 QBs don’t go top 4 then Arizona is taking MHJ. If Arizona is taking MHJ then WR 1 is known.

Unless he’s subtly claiming Arizona does not prefer MHJ, which seems improbable

well, the OL is an issue. yes. But they also have Slayton and Hyatt as down field threats. Clearly a downgraded WR corps than what he has had in college. But the pieces are there to take advantage of his arm.

Thats kinda the way it works for top QB prospects going to bad teams. The team isnt build around him yet.

BUT, hes good and he has a chance to be great imo. It shouldnt take too long for them to bring in other pieces there.

Nabers getting drafted before MHJ is not really a shocking development.

Apparently Daniel Jeremiah said on the draft show that he initially thought the Eagles were trying to trade up for a CB, but talking to teams today, they're under the impression they're trying to jump teams for an OT.

I am not an advocate of us drafting a WR in the first round this year. A player who would very plausibly be the 4th option for the entirety of his rookie deal. The only positions I like less with that pick are QB/TE/RB/S. I would entertain breaking the philosophy and taking an off all linebacker in the first round before a #3 WR. We’re not going to get value out of Xavier Worthy or Adonai Mitchell or even the Brian Jr guy who I didn’t bother to remember his name.

But if QBs go 1, 2, 3 and Malik Nabers is taken 4, then Harbaugh gets his OT in Alt and NYG get their guy in JJ McCarthy…

Howie send 23, a second rounder this year, a second rounder next year, and whatever other kibble you need. It’s not often a perennial playoff team gets the single best player in the draft in back-to-back years.

Fuaga would be fuuuuun. Eagles love their big guards.

thats what makes sense.

He's the only OL of the bunch I would be unhappy with lol. Because I think he has the lowest potential at OT. Trading up to 12 for a guy whose primary upside is at OG would be insane.

Trevor Sikkema theorized this a couple of weeks ago.

My pre-draft take is that I'd love Fuaga at 22, but would have serious concerns about trading into the top 12 for him. There's a very real chance he's an OG only. That's tough to trade 22/50 for. I do think his power would allow the best out of Jurgens. If you're going to have a smaller center, you need larger guards.

I know a lot have said otherwise, but I stand by my belief that the Eagles trade up for an OL who has the best upside as an OT. And the OG stuff is a bonus. I don't think they'd take a lesser OT prospect just because he can play guard. Because this guy will be drafted to be Lane's replacement and they'd want the best replacement possible at a position they value most behind QB.

Dude was in college for 6 years. He has had time to develop. He had has best year with two offensive lineman being drafted in the first round and three WRs that will be drafted.

Verse, Latu, and Thomas Jr all still on the board after 25 is pretty nuts. But you never know

Enjoy

If you count QBing at Indiana, and battling injuries as years of development, fine. But I dont agree.

He improved dramatically right away at Washington, and through each of his years there. But from the time he arrived there to now, its very early in a QBs development. He has ALL the tools. No reason to think he isnt going to continue improving.

You can say the last part about a lot of top end QBs. Burrow had may the best college WR room ever. Jayden Daniels has 2 1st round WRs this draft and Olinemen who will be first rounders next year.

But Penix didn’t have LSU’s roster or Texas’ roster or Alabama’s roster or even USC’s roster and got his team further than all of them.

You can knock him for spending more time in college to develop, but IMO that’s a plus, I know he’ll develop further than what we saw from his early years in college. I don’t know that about JJ.

That's the thing with the draft this year, there's no scenario where really good prospects aren't available at 22.

Oh no

It would obviously never happen but they should sell tickets for seats in a teams war room for draft weekend. They can take away phones/electronics and not have the draft board in view so nothing leaks. Have it be like jury seating where they are only privy to certain information. I would still pay for that.
