Jim Miller on NFL Radio is still holding out hope the Bears aren't drafting Caleb Williams.  Some guys just want to throw misdirection out this time of year, but I think Miller REALLY does not want the Bears to draft Williams.

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

Don't get me wrong, the Eagles have a need at CB, but IF they think Bradberry can bounce back with Fangio running the defense it's not as big of an immediate need at OL is. Slay, Bradberry, Ringo, Rodgers, Ricks, Avonte, etc isn't as bad as some are making it out to be. Even without Bradberry, if you add a rookie 2nd round pick into the mix and they should be fine with a real coach. I think people underestimate how much an impact the terrible coaching on defense last year was.

Did he walk back that report where he said he didn't want to play in Chicago or was that report not accurate to begin with?

Rams targeting Stafford's replacement?

Brock Bowers to the Rams sounds so much fun! Do it Les.

Mosher says we had a top 30 visit with Wiggins. I’m not sure if that was previously known.

This is who I'm most intrigued by. How does he compare to Emmanuel Forbes from last year coming out? Cuz that didn't seem to go well

@HazletonEagle you're temporarily unshunned

All the college stat sites, ESPN, Wikipedia and a lot of the Draft scouting sites list his playing weight last year as 184-185lbs.

I can see his combine weight and can't really explain the discrepancy, but either way, adding 10lbs would put him around 185 and that's not that small, Asante Samuel never weighed more than 185.

Because they all take his weight from his college roster page, and colleges inflate the size of their players.

He’s 173 at the combine, after months of deliberately putting on weight because he and his agent know that it will be a ding against him. Most likely his playing weight is even lighter.

I really like him as a college player, and he has the speed, length and coverage skills I like, but his weight is a serious concern.

Remember what AJ Brown did to Emmanuel Forbes? I don’t want that to be our cornerback. Size matters, and offenses will absolutely get their biggest, most physical receiver matched up against him.

If the Eagles are that desperate to trade up, I'm starting to doubt it's Mims. I don't think they'd have to move up that far for him. It's probably Fautanu. Or maybe Dallas Turner if he falls. I can see them moving up for a CB but not all the way to 12 far. That would be so unlike Howie.

I wonder how many of the calls are made so Howie knows what other teams are doing.  He may be concerned the player they like might be gone and is fishing for information.

The appeal of Wiggins is that he is so good in both. Because while one plays man and one plays zone more than the other, they both still play both. Thats where we saw Bradberry get beat in man pretty much every time he played it. And thats where we saw Slay look bad every time he passed off his man to a different zone and the WR got the pass right in that middle area.

Wiggins is great in both. He is the best cover guy in this draft and thats why hes CB1 for me. Add in his ridiculous 4.2 speed while injuring himself- he might be competing with Worthy for the combine record if he doesnt pull his groin there. Add in his physicality... Hes just the best CB period.

I had myself convinced for just the playmaking ability of DeJean for this defense. And I wouldnt hate if they picked him over any other CB.

But purely ranking CB play overall its Wiggins #1 easy imo.

I've liked DeJean and Wiggins the most,  especially since they weren't even considered the best.

Wiggins has high marks for Coverage.   Not tackling, pass rush, run defense.  But Coverage.  Looking at the Eagles PFFs from last year,  the primary problem the Eagles had with their secondary was Coverage.   Also,  Wiggins is very fast 4.28 40.   So, he could be used as jet sweeper guy, or something, on offense.  4.28 combine 40 is very good.   So you have 1) blazing fast 2) best coverage 3) top speed to be used on offense, possibly.

DeJean is balanced and versatile.  Good at both man and zone.  Can play all the positions in the secondary.  I personally always like the high school running QB thing.

You put up a chart someone made - passer rating - zone vs man.   Both Wiggins and DeJean were lower left corner,  where you want to be.  DeJean was very good at both.  Wiggins was great at one,  and good but not as good as DeJean at the other.

I think it was just conjecture.  He's come out since (not that there's anything wrong with that) and said he'd be happy to play in Chicago, and I'm pretty sure the Bears is the only pre-draft meeting he's taken.

I would be surprised -- but not totally shocked -- at a #1 and 2 pick swap at the top of the draft.  If the Bears simply turned in a pick at #1 as anything other than Caleb Williams, that would just be stupid.  Make Washington pay the cost to move up for him.

Someone say they wanted more mock drafts ?

Wonder if his agent told him that was a foolish thing to say and so he says he's happy to play in Chicago now

Phils up 4-0.  Is that the most we've scored this year in a Wheeler start?

Most Chicago fans aren't thrilled. I've asked a couple that I work with and there was one guy that goes to a game every year and he was didn't sound thrilled.

He's 21 years old. He will add weight without it diminishing his speed.  Forbes is a much softer player than Wiggins.  Wiggins size will be an issue at times but he won't get bullied like Forbes did.

Lane is still playing at a high level. Even though the 49ers dominated them, in the individual battle Lane owned Bosa.

The problem with Lane is their losing record when he is injured. They just need a reliable backup to start if he misses a couple games. It might be too soon to draft his eventual replacement, but if there is a potential stud OT there you take him. It's too important of a position. At least have an upgrade at backup because if Lane does show decline this year you have a stop gap and then get a replacement next year.

Steen should be able to cover at Tackle in a pinch, I don't believe there is an absolute stud at Tackle in the draft (cue pointless RAS chart showing Joe Alt got the same score as Jason Peters or some nonsense)

I think this year's crop is deep with the kind of guys that come out every year and become solid mid level starters, sprinkled with a couple of guys that started one year in a college that didn't challenge for much and have all the athletic tools that project to be a good starter if they get the right technique coaching and have the right attitude and work ethic.

If there was a can't miss guy he wouldn't be available anywhere we could realistically trade up to.

where are those numbers coming from?

why are those numbers not on ras?

"last updated 2/28/2024"   those wouldn't be pro day numbers.  and they wouldn't be combine numbers.  So,  where are they from?  They asked Latham how fast he was?  Seems fishy.

here's what draftscout.com has for Latham.

Nothing

I know you don't say it this way but every time I see Fuaga's name I sing it like you're starting a Sega video game and I now I can't not do it

Cooper Cupp had a significant injury, and then was much less effective last year. They have Puca but they can use a true #1 who can help open up that underneath stuff for him an Kupp.

That, or theyd like to select Murphy in an attempt to replace Aaron Donald.

There has to be something wrong with the Wiggins zone number, how do you even calculate a 1.7 passer rating? Like Wiggins played one passing down in zone and the QB aimed the ball in his direction but ended up hitting his left guard square in the ass?

as a QB, it's hard to get a passer rating below 39.6.  That's the 0 completions number.  To get below that,  you need to throw a lot of interceptions.

I suspect those numbers are wrong,  (like the 1.7 passer rating one)
