Don't get me wrong, the Eagles have a need at CB, but IF they think Bradberry can bounce back with Fangio running the defense it's not as big of an immediate need at OL is. Slay, Bradberry, Ringo, Rodgers, Ricks, Avonte, etc isn't as bad as some are making it out to be. Even without Bradberry, if you add a rookie 2nd round pick into the mix and they should be fine with a real coach. I think people underestimate how much an impact the terrible coaching on defense last year was.

OL has 3 great starters.

CB has ??? starters.

I'd go with none last year.

The Eagles need an upgrade at Starting Cornerback.  Or maybe formerly great CBs will be great again, or something,  but none of the CBs last year were great.  Or even very good.  Slay was best, and was slightly above average.

At OL,  3 greats,  a top draft pick who has been waiting for Kelce to go,  and a 3rd round pick who has been waiting for Kelce to go, and then for Jurgens to move from RG to C.  The Eagles do need 2 backups,  to remain backups for who knows how long.

Last year, the Eagles had a lot of below average CBs.    look at the PFFs.  The only bad or terrible players on the Eagles defense were playing CB.   People say "look there" or "look over there" for bad playing, but it was all CB.  It could be that approximately average Ringo becomes good or great. But there is a large basket of below average, bad or terrible at CB.

The OL needs 2 warm bodies.  Hey, might as well be good but no reason to spend a first.

The CB has nobody very good or great.   But a whole lot of warm bodies are there, not playing well.   I don't like what the Eagles have done this offseason regarding CB.  The problem wasn't "not enough below average players" and the Eagles acted like it was, bringing in new/old players like Maddox who were not good last year.

That right there is must see TV.

CB is to risky IMO in round 1 .  I think Christian Gonzalez is better than anyone in this years crop.  Deonte Banks and Emmanuel Forbes went in round 1 last year.  Too many busts at CB in round 1.  Play the odds and get your OT/OG

I wonder how much support those baby mamas are expecting on he retires?

Someone look it up for me.  This will be Lane’s age 34 season.

How many OTs have played at a very high level at age 35 and 36?

Granted, Lane is better and more talented than 99% of NFL OTs.  But there are plenty of other perennial all pro guys over the last 20 years.

What’s the list of best age 35 and age 36 seasons from OTs over the last 20 years???  If it’s a good list, don’t rush it with drafting Lane’s replacement.  If it’s not…well…do the math.

I'd say between slim and none.  I can't think he's a person who saves for a rainy day

They did get married so I am sure she's probably doing just fine.

Have you seen Russell Wilson outside of football? She's probably scarred for life

How is that 'impressive'?

I take the stupid route. Pick the best player and only then worry about fit. As far as fit does go we have nothing at tackle after Mailata and Lane. Doesn’t that worry anyone?

The Eagles need to replace 2 backup OL.    I assume they'll do that.   But I don't see any reason to use a first rounder for that. Backup. The Eagles have expensive, great starters at OT, signed for years.  3 great starters.  I wouldn't be surprised if Jurgens was great this year.  I'm not sure about Steen being great this year,  but it's plausible.  That's 5/5.

At CB - there is nobody currently great.

That's my thought as well. Maybe get him to set up trust funds while the cash is flowing.

I think you need to give up on player evaluations

The Eagles lost - Kelce, Opeta, Driscoll - since the end of last year.

The Eagles gained - Hennessy.

The Eagles need to add 2 more OL from somewhere.

There doesn't seem to be any reason to spend big.   It seems like a player who played Right Guard would be a good call.   Because Jurgens was the starting RG last year, and he's going to Center.  The backup RG was Opeta,  and he's also gone.   Since all the spots that are not RG are filled,  and because 2 RGs were lost,  I would think a RG who was good in college at playing RG would be the reasonable way to go.  However,  Steen is there to be the week 1 starter.  If Lane was hurt,  Steen would go to RT.    Christian Haynes and Zak Zinter were both All American Right Guards last year.

I was speaking about how to use the 1st round pick. I expect them to draft O line for sure, I always like getting depth linemen in mid to late rounds as well.

We will find out just how much the Eagles changed philosophically this off-season. They signed Barkley which is uncharacteristic of them. If they trade up for a CB, that would be a sign they made skme philosophical shifts after the season.

Also, as an aside. A guy I’d love them to get on day 2 or 3: Zinter. Think he’d be a Dickerson like pick. A guy who’d go much higher if not for the injury. He’s a stud. That is, if they don’t draft a guy who will be a guard in round 1.

This whole draft and pre-draft process has been generally boring and underwhelming, but with that comes completely unpredictable. It should be a fun night with some surprises.

Lane could be gone at any moment.

And forcing a pick at a position is how you end up with the Jerome McDougle's and Jon Harris's.   The CB class this year isn't nearly as strong as the OL.  That's just the reality.   In a vacuum, adding a CB would be more immediately impactful than OL.  However, the draft does not happen in a vacuum.   Take the BEST PLAYER, not the player at the right position.  Drafting with too much emphasis on position is where you make big mistakes that cost you for years into the future.

Have a feeling Mitchell might be there in the 15-17 range if the Eagles want him.

If Howie is dead set on drafting an OL, then draft whoever will be the best RG.

Lane is likely to play for a couple of years, and when the time comes to replace him, there will be a hole in the OL whether we move someone from RG or not.

So pick the best player for the spot you have open now.

If all this trade up smoke is real, I'm almost thinking just trading back is better. Even if you can get in the teens the cost will be higher than usual for prospects less valuable than usual.

I don't think I'd be disappointed with any of the OL or CB prospects except maybe DeJean. Every one of them could have an impact in 2024.
