  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

Ok I love the Barkley deal

Now, just imagine if they had taken Joey Porter Jr last year instead of Nolan Smith. Could have been set at CB.

He absolutely destroyed everybody. The main criticism would be that everybody was a bunch of nobodies.

Except he killed it at the senior bowl too

We will be comparing Mitchell vs Arnold for a long time. Howie better have gotten the right one

I would have preferred a trade down but I can’t be mad at this.

We got the only corner with no physical weaknesses.

Mitchell is big, strong, fast and tough.

My only concern is he is a bit boom or bust.

My guess is Howie explored moving down, but I bet he did not want to go more than a few spots to make sure to nail one of the top 2 CBs, and just did not get an offer worth taking.

Or even Brian Branch

Would anyone have taken the Vikings’ 3 to move down from 22 to 29?

. The Ringo hype machine never takes a break.

I suspect we are looking at the starting CBs for the next few years starting this year in Mitchell and Ringo.  Zone prominent CBs that can man match with speed.  There are "ifs” no doubt, but the ceiling is enticing.

Like Morgan but did not see him going in the 1st

When he played last year he was good. Easily the 2nd best CB on the team (low bar, still).

Yeah.   Extremely low bar.   But, not 'easily' the 2nd best Cb on the team.   I'd still have Slay over him, and frankly, I'd put Mitchell over him too.

When he played last year, the expectations were low too, because the defense was as brutal as we've ever witnessed in this city.  So, I'll reserve judgement.   It would be NICE to see him become that kind of starter, but there were red flags when he came out of UGA.  So, I want to see a fire continue to be lit under him, and not anoint him in anyway.  He needs to earn it.

Morgan in RD1.

Interesting.

Had him going early RD2.

That’s what happens when you reach for Penix.

Mitchell was also an off the ball CB who didn't play much press in college, which meant he was a projection in some systems, could be a day 1 starter for Fangio.

If Slay holds onto his starting job, might want to look at Mitchell/Ringo at S in some packages, Blackenship at SS with Rodgers and CGJ moving to nickel back.

Pretty much means Bradberry is history.

It may not be a good defense, but it's going to be a really fast defense that pursues - though inexperience may mean a lot of overpursuit.

Fangio will have his work cut out for him.

Hell no, that easily puts them in "smartest person in the room pick" territory or trading out of the first altogether

Given Arnold/Mitchell were on the board, no. If they were off the board, yes.

I'll believe it when I see it on the NFL field.   Let's not forget that he was a 4th round pick a year ago.  He wasn't exactly a 'blue chip' prospect.  He has to PROVE it.   He shouldn't have anything handed to him.   And given how horrible the secondary was last year, and the fact that he could barely sniff the field... well, that's not very encouraging.

Let's see what happens with him this year, before we pencil him in as a starter for 2025.

Dude, he’s barely 21 years old after a year in the NFL.

The only reason he was available at the top of the 4th is because he was raw and not a finished product. He’s made game winning plays in big time college football and is literally 12 months ahead of his age peer group.

I've been watching this feed on YouTube. It's a bunch of a-holes cursing and clowning around...then Bill Belichek being stoic and giving actual football analysis.
