What was that angry nfl page saying about Quinyon Mitchell's fit here again?

I remember he wrote about him and Arnold in this defense.

Wonder who he likes as best fits for the team tomorrow.

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

Yep. I haven’t really bothered reading up on day 2 safeties. There’s just no point.

CJGJ with Blankenship is fine, and Brown is a prospect that can develop into a starter. We don’t really have any motivation to put a premium resource into it.

Nope...

Id like to rank some on my day 2 wants but it just feels like these other positions are more important right now.

Elated about the Mitchell pick. Gut says he fell a bit due to arm length (his was 34th percentile).

Interesting to see this among his best comps (Slay has longer arms though)

I think with Blankenship, Gardner-Johnson, and Brown the eagles will not be drafting a safety. At least not tomorrow. A day 2 safety is not likely to start here. A somewhat devalued position wont be drafter with a day 2 pick to sit on the bench for at least a year.

Signing Justin Simmons could be enough to make some changes to the depth chart though. Whether its moving Gardner-Johnson to nickel for the year, or  having Blankenship as your 3rd safety...

IF they can get someone like Bullard in round 4 who can play S and nickel, then thats something they should consider because theres an easy path to immediate playing time for a player like that.

Bullard goes late RD2

If they want him tomorrow, it will be a trade back from 53.

Quinyon smoking dudes at the Senior Bowl.

I hope this one works better than the last time Doug won a battle over a first round WR.

Is it greedy to want DeJean in a trade up tomorrow?

Secondary could be set for years.

I was thinking the same thing.

Before 24 hours ago or 12 or whatever,  WR was a possible choice for maybe the first or one of the seconds.  Maybe the Eagles could get someone to do AJ Brown but cheaper.  But in the last 24 hours,  the Eagles basically said no to that,  so one of the places where you would think resources could go is no longer that.

The Eagles have 2 holes at RB,  they could use one of the good 2nd round picks on a RB.  But most would say that particular spot isn't worth using a 2nd rounder on, especially with great rb like Barkley there.  So, not WR, not RB, you're covering spots up.  I don't want to have a OL ride the bench until Lane retires, which shouldn't be soon at all.

A Right Guard should be expected somewhere in the draft.   The Eagles are down 2 Right Guards from last year.  The RG is probably the backup tackle.  Hennessy can be used for backup RG,  but cannot be used for backup RT (for the most part).   It just seems that maybe RG in rounds 2,3,4.  Christian Haynes or Zak Zinter.    Backup swing tackle somewhat raw project can be rounds 5,6,7.  Tylan Grable, Frank Crum.   Basically any high ras OL on day 3,  and Giovanni Manu,  quite raw,  but huge like Mims for those who want a Mims/Mailata giant project,  who would likely be a udfa.

I like T'V Sweat,  366 pound 6'4 DT from Texas.  Outland winner.   Legal troubles causing him to drop, and the Eagles already have Jordan Davis.   But 366 is rare.   Hey, maybe see how he does run blocking from the RG position.  Dial up a 6'4 366 pound right guard, see how he does.    The Eagles need both,  DT and RG.   Sweat won best Interior lineman.  As a DT,  Maybe he can do RG, too?

If you're not getting Legette, or someone Brown-like,  you have a pick you could use for DeJean, and those 2 moves would remake the secondary for a while.  In favor of it.

I think Thomas is going to be really, really good.

It would be too expensive to go up for him but DeJean at S with QM at CB would make that D special for a long time.

people were talking about possibly going from 22 to 15 for DeJean.  As a possibility.

the eagles could trade 50 and 53 for upper 2nd and upper 3rd.  Once you get to 37,  chargers, the jimmy johnson numbers get better for the team getting the Eagles picks.

you upgrade one of your picks and you downgrade the other one and you can get an extra day 3 pick.   Howie has been talking to all the teams about trading.  Maybe he tries this today.   He isn't probably willing to spend to get to 33.   But,  if DeJean isn't drafted maybe by 37 where the Chargers are, he starts to look into it.

I don't see too many players who are perfectly positioned around the 50/53 area.     The Eagles could use a right guard.  Steen would likely be starting right guard but also backup tackle, because,  why not,  Steen is the right tackle of the future, or something.   A right guard who can play right guard on a team where the starting right guard would be moved right if the RT was hurt seems like something you want.   But do the Eagles really need to spend a 50 or a 53 on that guy.  if the the Eagles got 37 - if DeJean was on the board - plus 69,  they could get DeJean at 37 and the Right Guard at 69.   Right Guard being maybe Christian Haynes or Zak Zinter.

Last year proved that Davis is never going to be able to play 500 snaps at a high level, and with Cox going we  lost someone who played around 700 snaps a year for the last 8 years, Carter can probably take 200 of those to become the lead DT, but that still leaves ~450 snaps to account for, maybe even more if we play more 3-4. Last year Hargrave walked and we were never going to replace his workload (700 snaps) with a rookie, it's too big a step to take in one year, and so it played out.

They've had Tuipolotu buried down the rotation for 3 years so unless they think Ojomo is ready to take a huge leap, we absolutely need to pick up a DT to take up some of Cox' s workload.

I'd rather they take a day two DT than another late round project and then find out that our D Line is gassed late season again because we're playing the same 3 or 4 guys all the time like last year.

High School
Three-star prospect according to 247 Sports...Three-time letterwinner at Williston High School...Finished career with 86 tackles, eight interceptions, and 19 pass deflections...Also ran for 983 yards and 11 touchdowns as a senior in 2019, averaging 9.5 yards per carry.

His senior year high school highlights are mostly runs as a running back.  hmm,  6'0 200 4.33.  Interesting ras compares.

Leave that poor girl alone.

Spoiler

The resemblance is dead-on, though. Holy crap. 😂

I was working during the draft so didn’t get to really take in the Mitchell pick until last 30 min or so.

To me it’s a home run pick. Quinyon Mitchell has been my #1 hope for the past few months. Keeping both the 2nd rnd picks is like icing on the cake. 4 straight 1st rd picks on DEF players, good on you Howie. If those 4 guys develop well under Fangio, our SB window remains wide open.

Curious to see what happens tomorrow. I think if we land a starting RG & LB, it’ll be a home run draft for us this year.

Hell, I have been thinking Day 3 S.  Decent class where some deep (free) Ss will be available on Day 3.  They really are looking at a #4 S and that person needs to beat out McCollum. Howie needs to do what he did tonight and go BPA throughout this draft.

Interesting that Jeremiah has him in the 100s.

I still believe Steen is moving back to tackle and we’ll be looking more at guard. But if we are looking at tackle. I’d add Fisher and Rosengarten as guys to watch.

We have gotten a lot more athletic in the back 7 with White, CJGJ and Mitchell. Hell, toss in Rodgers too.

Yep.   Looking promising.

Morey has been building for this offseason.  Embiid will likely habe the most complete team around him next season.
