my list would be DeJean, McKinstry, McConkey and Newton. Maybe a guard like Powers-Johnson, or Haynes if they like them enough.

I wonder how far AD Mitchell will fall, and if the eagles still have him on their board.

I just can’t see them trading up to take Kool Aid after taking Mitchell which is why I didn’t include him.

Ok I love the Barkley deal

Wondering if Patrick Paul will be one of the picks.  Dude has some long ass arms (36.25 inches put him in like top 30 ever in draft) and still put up 30 reps on the bench.

Still really want to draft Johnny Newton somehow.  Think he is a top 20 player in draft

I can only imagine the conversations going on.  The ass slap is very much, we got him without moving up.  Atta boy staying home for a change

I think 40 times are overrated for most positions but at CB I definitely would go with the faster player

I agree... but Mitchell is just the better all around athlete too.  It isn't just about straight line speed.

Take it for what its worth.

Mitchell has elite recovery speed and that was difference in my opinion

Yes, watching our DBs lose ground consistently was painful.  Kelee and Quinyon, both 6' or more, around 200 lbs, and both sub 4.40 forties, l'm pretty happy.

I know his name has been beaten to death, but Cooper DeJean is a perfect trade up candidate. He's a Swiss Army Knife that could play all over as a rookie and then settle in as CB2 in a year or two.

I really fell for this guy, I think he would offer Fange so much in the secondary. His smarts plus instincts, would really help to turn this secondary around and stabilize it. CJGJ, Rodgers, Mitchell then DeJEan is a pretty good haul this off-season, then Ringo who can be a wild card surprise. I'm liking these trade ideas of moving up with both 2's and snagging a 3rd back to land DeJean. It will be tough to watch all the other players go since we still have quite a few needs, but I think he could be that good, so F it. Maybe we can dip into next years picks to help land some positions of need too.

I just dont think he is very good at all. Thats the problem.

Im not interested in OT yet. Not even Sumatia. There are some developmental guys who can be had later. Dont need to use a high pick for one to sit for a few years.

They just drafted Mitchell…Rodgers is being reinstated…and Ricks, Ringo are another year older in their development this year.  They signed CJGJ.  I would think Howie is now done spending premium picks in the secondary for this year.

I still think Howie wanted the right OT drop far enough for him yesterday.  It didn’t work out that way.  He will certainly target online today.  I just hope he also targets LB.  It would just be refreshing to see them address all 3 levels of the D for a change.

I’d love to see us roll those 2’s into next year.

I won't be surprised to see them move one of the 2's for a 3rd rounder this year and, say, a 3rd rounder next year - they have traded their 4th and 6th picks next year, so could use at least another pick to make up for that..

Howie's probably trading up for an OL.  He's going through withdrawal now.  Watch Eagles will make a trade and you'll think it's for one of your guys but it will be OL

LB and WR today and he can take OL for the rest of the draft on day 3 if he wants. Which will have some good ones.

I wont complain about an OG in round 2. But I dont want a developmental tackle already. And Id prefer to draft some more playmakers first. Defense lacked playmakers last year.

Interestingly, despite PFFs grade on his pass blocking, they have him as the 101st ranked prospect. Jeremiah has him at 120. ESPN 78. His consensus is 61.

I'm in the trade up for DeJean camp. It would be refreshing to see the weakest position group from last season get a complete makeover.

Otherwise, I'm down for Orhorhoro at DT with 50 and a LB (Cooper/Wilson/Gray) at 53.

Keep addressing defense.

The offense is Super Bowl worthy.

I say Howie moves up at some point but for a linebacker. This is going to be the antithesis of himself draft now. He has the chance to get one of the top 3 linebackers such is still a position of need. Then I say we’ll be looking at pass rushers and slot WR/TE2 today.

Agreed.

However, we are still at the point where 1 injury to either starting WR leaves us with nothing. As well as the way the offense struggles without Goedert. Weapons are needed and should be considered strongly with today's picks as well.

For those of you happy with last nights pick, you're welcome Blog.

McConkey would be devilish in the slot behind AJ and DeVonta and it would be nice to have a third receiver with a pulse after the Quez years. Probably smarter to go LB, OL, or another DB but that would be a tempting pick just for the pure excitement of the offense.

This may sound silly, but you you wonder if a guy like Ringo could be used to trade up. I think Ringo has worlds of potential and flashed last year. But if the Eagles think DeJean is a pure 1st round talent, that IMO makes Ringo expendable. They still have Ricks (who showed potential), McPhearson, Jobe etc. at CB3/4.

50 and Ringo for pick 33. The Bills lost Tre'Davious White and could use a young CB. Of course you could argue, why don't they just use their pick on a CB. Ringo hasn't proven a thing yet.

I doubt it.  Howie never wants to put the Eagles in a position where they need to pay big dollars to retain a LB ... and drafting one high in the 2nd round might put them in that position four years down the road.  By contrast, he'll pay CBs ... that it had been so long since he drafted one high is just a product of usually finding a top lineman they feel more sure about than a top CB ... this year that was not the case.

Hell, I have been thinking Day 3 S.  Decent class where some deep (free) Ss will be available on Day 3.  They really are looking at a #4 S and that person needs to beat out McCollum. Howie needs to do what he did tonight and go BPA throughout this draft.

Yep. Doubt anyone they draft today or tomorrow will start in 2024. So you're drafting depth and "Futures." Which means BPA is the only way to go.

People keep saying Howie should do this or that, the board dictates what he should do, if a player in a higher tier drops, you target him, if a bunch of players are in the same tier and you can get similar value by trading down, you do so if there's a good offer.

I usually post about this every draft, but man I really miss the weekend draft. We would BBQ for the weekend, plan our spring yard clean up around the draft and then just watch it all. There was nothing like doing all of our chores on Saturday morning knowing that we had hours of draft coverage to watch as we relax. Great food, multiple draft magazines and really good coverage from limited sources on TV.

I hate how it is now. The 1st round isn't even immune to the garbage now. We used to at least know that the 1st round was no frills. Commissioner comes out and announces the pick, highlights are shown, move on. Now there are speeches, special location messages and endless crap. It's horrible. I was glued to the boards last night. Put the draft coverage on when the Eagles pick was up and that was it. Sucks what they've turned it in to.

Yup.  I've said it for a while.  The NFL is alienating their die hard fans while courting all the fringe folks.   And they can do it, because they know that the die hards will never leave.   But, what they have done for me is make me far far less interested in the league as a whole.   I used to get draft publications and just like you... make the entire weekend about the draft.   I loved the Saturday/Sunday draft.  Much better.  Even a Friday/Saturday/Sunday draft would be better.   Thursday night Round 1, starting at 8 and ending at midnight is ridiculous.   If it was Friday, it wouldn't bother me so much.   But as it is... they continue to kill the thing that I used to love.

And now, Opening day is in a foreign country.  OPENING DAY.  The first opportunity to see your team for the season won't be in EITHER team's home stadium.  Just a complete and total slap in the face of the ACTUAL fans, as they try to court the foreign fans.  I know why they are doing it... and I don't like it.
