Just saw a day 2 mock where the Eagles get Tyler Nubin and Edggerin Cooper. Could you imagine the Eagles coming out of this draft with the best Corner, Safety, and Linebacker in the class?

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

I’m not complaining about the pick, and I think the Eagles genuinely believe they made the correct decision. But I think they were not necessarily overjoyed with the plate of options on their menu, at least compared to other years. If just felt like it was a "yeah, I guess he’s the best option of what we have so we’ll take him” situation.

What I’m happy about is that this wasn’t the scenario we’ve seen before where the Eagles are picking around 20th and pick someone that most people had rated in the 30s or 40s. Guys like Agholor or Smith or Reagor. Mitchell was a guy who was a consensus mid teens kind of pick.

I don’t get that feeling.  I really believe the Eagles have their starting CBs of the future in Mitchell and Ringo if they play out like all suggestions of their talent suggests.  Slay is 33 and Bradberry 31.  Eagles may add a nickel,  there are about 6-8 players trying out for that role on the current roster and some decent candidates on the roster and two more days on the draft.  (If you look at the roster and wonder about 7 and 8, that’s Rodgers who has pretty much been an outside corner and McCollum, who depending on the next few days is the S4/nickel candidate at this point.

Today, Howie is looking for two starters.  Position candidates are ILB (not a deep draft there and right now the future cupboard for that position is Dean and VanSumerin, IOL, WR, S3/4, OLB/Edge, maybe even a TE, based on BPA.  I would say kind of in that order of position priority.  I like the value around where the Eagles draft tonight.

Y'all are getting way to excited after we finally took a CB in round 1. At LEAST one pick today will be in the trenches.

Curious how the Eagles view Cooper, everyone seems to be torn on him. Some love him because of his physical traits, some really don't because the knock on him is he's out of position and lacks instincts. Very polarizing prospect. I've heard people say they'd take him in the 1st and some say they wouldn't even take him in the 2nd.

The consensus is generally that Wilson is a better player, but with the injury history that changes things significantly. Tore the ACL twice.

So many good players left going into tonight. The Eagles should be fine to stay put at 50 and 53 and get two exciting prospects:

Defense: Cooper Dejean, Kool-Aid McKinstry, Max Melton, Edggerin Cooper, Peyton Wilson, Johnny Newton, Marshawn Kneeland, Adisa Isaac, Tyler Nubin, Javon Bullard

Offense: Jatavion Sanders, Ladd McConkey, Roman Wilson, Malachi Corley, Jackson Powers-Johnson, Cooper Beebee, Zak Zinter, Kingsley Suamataia, Roger Rosengarten, Blake Fisher

I really want DeJean, but they have to move up for him. If he was one of the players with a 1st round grade, I think they make it happen. There are reports the Eagles are already making calls trying to trade up.

On offense, I really like Corley and Zinter. If they do move up in the 2nd, but can get a 3rd back, those two are my more realistic options.

If they stay put at 50 and 53, I'd be interested in a guy like Mike Sainristil and McConkey.

DeJean as our slot CB would be a fantastic fit. Just ups the athleticism and toughness of the unit immediately.

DeJean has not played much slot or S yet there are these projections that is his calling.  I like the prospect but we have to be realistic about the projection.

There are so many really good options available and they can so in many different directions (Different positions, trade up, trade back, etc)  it's kind of hard to screw it up. I think I would actually prefer for them to just be chill again and sit at 50 and 53 and take the two best players on their board but I wouldn't be opposed to be keeping 50 and moving down with 53, or moving up from 50 and move back from 53. Literally everything is on the table and that makes for an exciting night. To think we got Mitchell last night at 22 without having to give up 50 or 53 is just crazy.

Howie's gonna scratch his OL itch tonight.

There are plenty of solid options without having to reach.

I could see Howie saying screw it and offer a team from 33-37 both our 2nds for their 2nd and their 3rd.

I'd do it. Drop after 50 anyway

I guess the only big trade up I like is with CAR for their early 2 and 3 for our 2s.

It makes mathematical sense with the NFL draft value chart that's for sure.

Agreed. I would prefer two defensive players, or a defensive player and another weapon for the offense (TE or 3rd WR) but with guys like Powers-Johnson, Suamataia, Rosengarten, Fisher, Haynes, Beebee, and Zinter all available value should line up with one of the picks for them to have some choices and they will take one in my opinion.

As it should be.

There will be some high upside DTs and one or 2 DEs available

LOL. Dallas is tanking but the media can't admit it.

That’s a really good point.

DeJean was a boundary corner in college. He has the body and skill set that suggests he’s a safety or nickel corner but he hasn’t done it.

Does that make him drop?

There’s no way Suamataia and DeJean could drop to us, right?

I feel like Howie has blackmail on the Devil with how players have been dropping to us lately.

Just curious if anyone knows how many players with RAS scores under 5 ever make pro bowls?  I have no clue or if anyone has ever done the research.

Watching the Eagle Eye podcast, I think it was Zangaro who said Howie is just trolling Jerry Jones at this point. Not only did he get DeVonta signed to his 2nd contract before CeeDee Lamb, he was then able to reset the WR market again with the AJ Brown extension. Both WR signed before Lamb gets his deal. Unreal job.

He may start this season because the Falcons don't have a great team and there will be pressure to put him in games.  The plan, however, isn't to have him start next season.  It's to have him take over in 2027.. The team almost has to cut Cousins in 3 seasons because he has a $57 million cap hit in 2027 and they only have a $12million dead cap charge to cut him prior to the season.  I can't imagine they have him be the back up in 2026 because at that point his cap hit is $57 million.  So Penix will get one year as a starter before they have to make a decision on an extension or have him play on a 5th year option and face a negotiation using the franchise tag. That's not a lot of time as a starter to decide if they need to re-sign him to a big deal or move on from him.  It's not a reasonable plan. With Cousin's contract, have negated the value of having a QB on a rookie deal.

The cap keeps going up though. I’m not as worried about that as I am in past years and neither are GMs. The Eagles have 6? players on offense making over $20 mil this season?

The situation will be interesting but I stand by the Falcons decision to draft Penix. Cousins can get you into the playoffs but not much more. They clearly think Penix has the ability to take them to the next level 2-3 years down the road.

50 and 53 = 770 points

37 and 69 = 775 points (Chargers)

39 and 65 - 775 points (Panthers)

40 and 67 = 755 points (Commies)

Newton, Fiske, Williams and Jenkins are all DT I'd be thrilled with.

Doubt it

he has all the vision and processing to be a top notch safety
