A little bit of fatherly advice had McCallan Castles circling March 27 on his calendar and raring to go for Tennessee’s Pro Day. After a productive, beneficial 2023 season with the Vols to conclude his collegiate career, the tight end started his process leading up to the NFL Draft by playing in the East-West Shrine Bowl a month after catching a touchdown in Tennessee’s win in the Citrus Bowl on New Year’s Day. Yet an invite to the NFL Scouting Combine didn’t come, which left Castles with a point to prove after what his dad told him following the snub – "Hungry dogs run faster” – and prove it he did on Wednesday.

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

Castles aced his testing session and looked the part catching passes from Tennessee quarterback Joe Milton IIIduring his on-field workout inside the Anderson Training Center. At 6-foot-4.5 and 244 pounds, the 24-year-old from California ran unofficial 4.65- and 4.60-second 40 times per Tennessee – his agent shared that he ran a 4.66 – and clocked a 4.31-second short-shuttle time. Castles also posted impressive vertical (37.5 inches) and broad (10 feet, 6 inches) jumps.

both brothers to the same team.

Covey was good the last year and a half as PR, but I wonder if he'll make the team with Smith and DeJean on the roster. Smith is really good returning punts and Covey who never sees any snaps at WR is a waste of a roster spot, especially if Smith and Wilson both make the team. Campbell probably will make it. That's 5 WRs and not even including Parker.

They’re really pissed about the players last season lol

Based on many levels of ignorance, I give Howie an A for Day one, and A for Day Two, and a C for Day Three. It would have been a D but he did get that 2025 Round Three pick. I thought he got aced out of four players he wanted, so C is pretty charitable.

I think Howie did this for you guys to taunt you by showing how many potential scapegoats he has.

I need to see Big Dom and Clint Hurtt fight. That’s a Godzilla vs Kong battle if I ever seen one.

Covey earned his spot IMO.

Said they tried to poach from practice squads at end of season because of lack of talent in this draft essentially

His dad told him hungry dogs run faster before his bowl game that he scored a TD.  Do anything for you?

I’ll have to get more familiar with the guys drafted from 3rd-6th rd but man Howie killed it first 2 rounds. Landing those two guys right away makes this draft a big time win for me.

I feel better about matchups vs Lamb who always kills us

Yup, feel instantly better about the DB room.  Still quite a bit of hopes and dreams that need to come to fruition for the defense to get into that average range (Dean stays healthy and is good, white makes a resurgence, Carter and Davis take the next step, Huff plays at reddick's level, sweat plays better than last season, smith takes a huge leap) but at the very least now we have dudes in the back 7 who can make plays and have speed
