Yes, we can agree that Smith and Brown can come off the field and shouldn't be playing as many snaps but those snaps are not going to Covey. They will go to Parris Campbell, DeVonte Parker and Ainias Smith before Covey.

I don't know.   Last year,  a lot of snaps went to Quez and Oz.  And they're both gone, so the snaps that went there will go elsewhere.  I would, and did, argue that there are additional snaps that go into the "too many snaps for Smith and Brown".    Taking snaps away from Smith and Brown so that they will be perfectly healthy for the playoffs.

So,  you have snaps going away from Quez, Oz, Smith and Brown.  And we don't really know where those snaps will go.  I would think 4 candidates for increased snaps would include Covey, as well as new Smith, Wilson and Campbell.   Covey did not get a lot of snaps and targets last year,  they could increase considerably Covey's snaps.   But they could also not do that.   But nobody knows,   we do know that there are snaps freed up by Quez and Oz going and maybe even through the recognition that you really don't want to lead the league in snaps by a WR duo.

Ok I love the Barkley deal

When asking about it, Lurie seemed very confident the Eagles didn't do anything wrong regarding Barkley. And Schefter was wishy-washy about anything concrete with Philly (not true of Atlanta)

Covey earned his spot IMO.

Yep.  Will take a lot to beat out Covey imo.  He has improved dramatically from when he first started and keeps getting better.  He’s not only become very good, he’s also very reliable with the ball.  Low risk of turnovers with solid returns.

That’s great.  Combine that with his cap wizardry - yes folks, we have one of the top GM’s in the NFL.  (Arguably the best all around GM)

Connor Williams is still available in free agency. Tore his ACL in December, but was a consensus top 30 free agent on most evals.

May start the season on the PUP, but I couldn't think of a more perfect addition. Has flexibility too. That seems to be a key theme for the Eagles this offseason.

Told you all.

He is actually pretty agile given his size. He can run WR routes pretty well, breaks better than you would assume. Obviously he’s not as agile as Smith, but you put him in isolation out wide against a 5’10” CB and he has the potential to dominate.

Seems like an underwchiever

Don't know much about him but just seems like a Darren Waller type physically

Poor man’s Plaxico Burress.

Parker isn't a lock to make the team. Nor is Campbell. I doubt Covey gets much burn but with Moore here now who knows what he dials up. As long as Covey is active on game day he's an option just because.

Not sure if posted yet but this is pretty cool….

Streaky, but talented. Most of all, unique. He’s huge but can actually move.

Obviously late in the draft it’s a crap shoot but he has legit potential.

Covey was a nice story but he has no job here now

I think Campbell and Smith are locks. WR5 is up for grabs. I'm not taking anything away from Covey the PR. He's expendable now with the addition of 3 other players who excel as returners. He's not a lock just because he's the PR.

The Lurie part at the end really hit hard.

Based on many levels of ignorance, I give Howie an A for Day one, and A for Day Two, and a C for Day Three. It would have been a D but he did get that 2025 Round Three pick. I thought he got aced out of four players he wanted, so C is pretty charitable.

Who are the four players you think?

Agree to disagree on Campbell

I think there were a few OL they wished dropped differently but gauging their reactions I think Shipley & Smith were their guys all the way.  Really their first 5 picks clearly were.

He's one of the best punt returners in the league.  Only way they use DeJean as the PR is if he doesn't win a starting job on defense.

You've gotta ignore last year with the Giants. He's still dynamic and younger than Covey. Parris Campbell is WR3 and it's his job to lose. I can see he and Ainias Smith rotating a lot.

Tommy brought up a good point in his day 3 wrap up post. The Eagles got extra picks next year and they might be preparing for some kind of draft pick penalty for tampering with Barkley.

If the illegal tampering was the GM talking directly to the player during the 'legal' tampering period... then the rule is stupid.   If they reached out before the 'legal' period began, then so be it.   But, if it is what Franklin said... then the rule is just stupid.  "Talk to the agent, but not the player... "  That's a rule just for the sake of having a rule.
