  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

Ok I love the Barkley deal

Had Lurie in tears.

Prediction:Ā  Alec Bohm will be an All-Star this year.

I liked what I saw from Smith a little. Small, but built compact. Hard to bring down. Looked like he lacked that extra gear consistently, but showed flashes of it. I've heard people say he looked faster in 2022 before his injury, so maybe that's a factor.

Paris Campbell, Will Shipley, Britain Covey, and Ainias Smith should keep our Dabs off of return teams.Ā

We certainly have a type.Ā

I think they almost assuredly preferred to go OL in round 1 and then get their DB in round 2. I'm not so sure about later rounds because they had plenty of chances and passed. Beebe only went a handful of picks ahead of them in round 3. Could've traded up if they wanted to. They passed on Haynes. They passed on McCormick multiple times. They could've taken Jackson Powers Johnson in round 2 when they traded up. Or Suamataia in round 2. They had plenty of opportunities to take a lot of guys that have been talked about over the last couple months.

Puts RT and TE at the top of the 2025 draft

And they took the 2 guys they took with other bigger 'names' on. board but I agree they could have gone OL in rd 1 if they fell. Should they have traded up when a big position of need was falling into their laps though?Ā  Just the way it went

Most definitely. One year off of going heavy in the trenches will have them jonesing next year. And if it’s not OL in round 1 it’ll definitely be DL.Ā

He's one of the best punters in the league.Ā  Only way they use DeJean as the PR is if he doesn't win a starting job on defense.Ā Ā

Generally,Ā  if you have a top punt returner,Ā  you aren't going to use a top pick as a punt returner.Ā Ā

I'll take the Covey side on an argument,Ā  but the counter argument, which seems to contain something like "look at all the new returners" can be tough.Ā Ā  Last year and the year before there were many who wanted Covey out despite the fact that he has done well.Ā Ā  Maybe it's the same people, still around, still wanting Covey out.Ā Ā  Their side is not without an argument though.Ā  wilsonVwaller.jpg.082cf1affd6ed86e14a38c9fe7667b1c.jpg

Who are the four players you think?

Roman Wilson, Suamatia, Wingo, and McCormick.

I dont think a single player was traded during the draft. Seems unusual but I wonder if it’s just because it’s always the Eagles trading for someone.Ā

Man Wilson would have been so much fun in this offense

He was even more valuable and returning punts

It comes down to roster construction and roster spots. The bottom line here is that the Eagles have added multiple players who are extremely talented returners and will also play larger roles on offense and defense. Covey is a PR and PR only. Now, maybe no one stands out and is worth saving on the active roster so the Eagles can afford the luxury of just having a roster spot devoted to a PR, but I'd rather them go heavy at a position and utilize players who can contribute in more than one way.Ā

Edge/OLB- Josh Sweat, Bryce Huff, BG, Jalyx Hunt, Nolan Smith, Oren Burks/Julian Okwara- 7

LB- Devin White, Nakobe Dean, Jeremiah Trotter Jr., Zach Baun- 11

DT- Jalen Carter, Milton Williams, Moro Ojomo, Jordan Davis, Thomas Booker/Noah Ellis/Marlon Tuipulotu/PJ Mustipher- 16

DB- Darius Slay, Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, Kelee Ringo, Isaiah Rodgers, CJGJ, Reed Blankenship, Sydney Brown, Tyler Hall, Avonte Maddox, Eli Ricks/Zech McPhearson/Josh Jobe/Mekhi Garner- 27

Rick Lovato, Jake Elliott, Braden Mann- 30

QB- Jalen Hurts, Kenny Pickett and Will Grier (I think they trade McKee during camp) 33

RB- Saquon Barkley, Will Shipley, Kenny Gainwell, Kendall Milton or Tyrion Davis-Price- 37

WR- AJ Brown, Devonta Smith, Parris Campbell, Ainias Smith, one of Devonta Parker, Johnny Wilson, Britain Covey- 42

TE- Dallas Goedert, Grant Calcaterra, CJ Uzomah- 45

OL- Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Tyler Steen, Lane Johnson, Matt Hennessy, Fred Johnson, Trevor Keegan, Dylan McMahon- 54

Right there puts the roster at 54, and that's light on the OL and doesn't account for any camp surprises, other FA additions. So I've already gotta trim one player. Is Britain Covey as the PR and only the PR more valuable than one of the top reserve CB? Is he more valuable than DeVonta Parker or Johnny Wilson (both who bring a whole different skillset to WR)? Is Covey more valuable than Burks or Okwara who will be pass rushers and core ST players?

The Eagles are stacked with talent. Keeping a player who only does one thing doesn't make sense to me.

The Jets traded a DE to the Broncos.Ā

Am I misremembering or did most mocks have Trotter Jr as a 2nd round big during the 2023 season? Not that it matters, Carson Strong was once considered a first round pick. But what I'm driving at is I wonder if Trotter's value plummeted because of bad testing and it kind of snowballed.

They may need that extra roster spot to keep Hunt on the roster while he gets busy in the weight room.
