Baun is easily expendable, new guy who isn't anything special

I think I remember his contact almost fully guaranteed. Hes making the 53.

It goes the other way too. You can afford to keep unplayable developmental bottom of the roster players because you can have JAG vets on the PS.

That's where you stash guys like Hunt, who would be a good bet to be claimed if you tried to waive him to the PS.

Keegan as well while he attends Stoutland U.

Be all reports they like Fred Johnson a good deal

Le’raven Clark has never played up to his potential, mostly due to lack of strength. He’s now had two off-seasons and a PS stint to work on that and take Stout’s coaching. Between him and Fred Johnson, I prefer him. Neither one of them makes me happy though. JAGs both.

He seemed like an ascending player to me. He might disappoint but I wouldn’t write him off so quickly

It's 1.6 mil for a guy who's played a large majority of his career on special teams. If they keep him just to save 1.6 mil that's bad roster management, dude is a JAG

One thing Sheil and Solak said that I agree with 100% is the "too much pressure for Trotter Jr to play in Philly" stuff was always 100% nonsense. There will be very little pressure on him as a 5th round pick and I think even if he's just a depth LB on special teams who lights up a returner every now and again, fans will still embrace him.

Smart fans sure. Not sure about the WIP mouth breathers though. They will probably be saying he was the steal of the draft.

Howie basically straight up called him Van Ginkel. He’s Fangio’s pet.

I’m not disagreeing with anything you’re saying. It’s just fully guaranteeing his contract plus Howies comments on him is a clear sign they have a plan for him. If that plan works or not is to be seen.

Disagree on both. I expect Hunt to play a lot. I think Fangio has specific plans for him. I’m thinking as a robber, covering the middle based on down and distance, or over the TE. As for Keegan, he has excellent technique. Michigan knows OL and how to coach it. They also had a great strength coach, Jonathan Brooks, who has followed Harbaugh to LA. Keegan won’t start but he may dress a lot after a few weeks. He’s close to plug and play. He may not be great but he’ll be serviceable.

WR will be an interesting training camp battle for spots.  Past Brown and Smith none of them immediately stick out as locks.  I’d probably feel better about Johnny Wilson if he high-pointed the ball a bit better, but at 6’6+ he’s pretty much high-pointing any throw he’s reaching up for.

I still think Ainius Smith lacks the burst to be an exciting player, but he might be versatile enough to secure a spot on the 53.  Parris Campbell and Devante Parker should have to work pretty hard to stick around.  Campbell being a few years younger might be the deciding factor; Parker’s production has been declining over the past few years and he’s now the wrong side of 30.  I’d be disappointed if he made the team, tbh.

Covey might get caught in a number crunch.  He did a good job as a PR last season, but he doesn’t possess much upside at WR.  Howie might make him available by trade for a late-round pick before cutting him if it comes to that.  Other teams would value his PR ability.

Baun and Burks are depth veterans, play on STs, some snaps, back up the starters and don't force you to play kids who aren't ready.

Howie is a strong believer in "redshirt" seasons, most rookies need a year of practice, a year of ST/part-time duty before they're ready for big roles (if ever).

There's a few who surprise (Blankenship), but most picks after the 1st rd, and almost all after the 2nd rd, need seasoning, especially if you're drafting for upside over NFL readiness.

The pressure is on the Eagles to play/keep him.

Was there a reason he didn't play at all on the right side at Michigan? I'm guessing he was blocked by Zinter, but if he's going to dress he needs to be able to backup both spots.

Zinter (another Michigan guy, is there a pattern here?) probably will be a starting NFL OG, but if Stoutland wanted him, doubt Howie passes on him at #84 - we know Stoutland has a lot of influence on draft decisions.

That was my general feel. Beyond the guys that went before 22 there weren't guys they loved enough to change plans.  I'm sure they really liked a few that went between Mitchell and DeJean too.  But after DeJean they didn't like anyone enough to move up for him.  I tend to think if they thought (Stoutland) there was a day 1 rockstar at RG or future RT starter available they'd have gladly parted with picks.

Draft grades are always entertaining.  Guy will have Quinyon 10th on his big board and say something like Eagles looking for a zone corner and they got the best one at 22.  Graft grade B-

Sheil just as confused by the Will Shipley pick.

Dalton Risner is still a FA and would be a really good get.  Maybe they really like Steen I don’t know but getting him would put Steen at swing tackle

I think you're going to be pleasantly surprised by Smith. He's just one of those jitterbug players that you hate to play against. He's going to annoy other DC. I think he's already WR3. Of course, he has to come in and show that's the case, but that's just how I view it. He's going to be one of our favorites.

Covey 100% is a great PR and he belongs in the NFL. I was a big fan of his coming in to the NFL, even as a WR, but I think he's shown what he is...a return specialist. Nothing wrong with that if you have room on your roster to burn. If he can't contribute as a WR for the Eagles, they have to move on from him. The Eagles are already going to burn a roster spot on Jalyx Hunt.

Maybe I overvalue roster spots. The Eagles wasted two last year on Albert O and Rashad Penny but I just think this team has so much talent that keeping guys with limited roles isn't the smartest thing to do.

You guessed right. FWIW, Corum’s TD after Zinter’s injury came behind Keegan.

I doubt Hunt plays much this season, he's really raw and he's gong to be asked to do things he didn't do in college, only 2 years at DE at a very small school, WR and S at Cornell, not exactly a football power. So unless he's a football genius, it'll take time.

Keegan is more a numbers game, Hennessey #6, Fred Johnson #7, depends if Howie picks up a veteran OL. Depends how ready Stoutland thinks he is, even Alabama players have had to sit for him.

I don’t anticipate him as a DE at all. More of a SAM/robber hybrid.
