I think you're going to be pleasantly surprised by Smith. He's just one of those jitterbug players that you hate to play against. He's going to annoy other DC. I think he's already WR3. Of course, he has to come in and show that's the case, but that's just how I view it. He's going to be one of our favorites.

Covey 100% is a great PR and he belongs in the NFL. I was a big fan of his coming in to the NFL, even as a WR, but I think he's shown what he is...a return specialist. Nothing wrong with that if you have room on your roster to burn. If he can't contribute as a WR for the Eagles, they have to move on from him. The Eagles are already going to burn a roster spot on Jalyx Hunt.

Maybe I overvalue roster spots. The Eagles wasted two last year on Albert O and Rashad Penny but I just think this team has so much talent that keeping guys with limited roles isn't the smartest thing to do.

You only dress 46, so you can stash 3-4 players for the season.

You stash injury replacement veterans on the PS these days instead of hitting the waiver wire or signing them off the street.

I think someone will have to beat out Covey for the 5th WR/PR role. Just b/c you returned punts in college, doesn't mean you can do so in the NFL.

The pressure is on the Eagles to play/keep him.

I guess Howie’s been playing chess there by having virtually no competition

This account gets worse and worse. Give your condolences to him but don't tie the two things together.

Le’raven Clark has never played up to his potential, mostly due to lack of strength. He’s now had two off-seasons and a PS stint to work on that and take Stout’s coaching. Between him and Fred Johnson, I prefer him. Neither one of them makes me happy though. JAGs both.

Yeah, I think Howie will be looking to upgrade.

I think he sees Keegan in the Driscoll model, solid backup but not expecting him to start.

The veteran OL they've added are placeholders.

I did too. I was also secretly hoping we would've landed Marshawn Lloyd. Was hoping he lasted to our 3rd rounder just to make it more interesting but he went a few picks prior to our selection of Hunt. Packers now have Josh Jacobs, Lloyd, AJ Dillon. Jacobs and Lloyd is going to be such a powerful duo. Overall I am now settled on the Shipley pick. Think he will be a very hard and tireless worker and have success here.

Yup, I liked Lloyd as well, seems Packers liked him more

I hope Shipley does well, hes a good athlete and a smart kid, graduated in 3 years with 4.0 GPA which is great but not sure how much that helps him on the field.

I just would have preferred a bigger back

Maybe milton from georgia can push for a spot, his knee still looks a bit gimpy so could need a year on PS.

I don’t anticipate him as a DE at all. More of a SAM/robber hybrid.

That's my point, more for him to process. Maybe you can design a few plays for him, but why bother this season?

I think the plan is for him to spend the year inactive, learning SAM, and living in the weight room and film room.

Meanwhile they evaluate Smith, Huff, etc. and see who is a long-term answer as a OLB, stand up pass rusher, etc.

WR will be an interesting training camp battle for spots.  Past Brown and Smith none of them immediately stick out as locks.  I’d probably feel better about Johnny Wilson if he high-pointed the ball a bit better, but at 6’6+ he’s pretty much high-pointing any throw he’s reaching up for.

I still think Ainius Smith lacks the burst to be an exciting player, but he might be versatile enough to secure a spot on the 53.  Parris Campbell and Devante Parker should have to work pretty hard to stick around.  Campbell being a few years younger might be the deciding factor; Parker’s production has been declining over the past few years and he’s now the wrong side of 30.  I’d be disappointed if he made the team, tbh.

Covey might get caught in a number crunch.  He did a good job as a PR last season, but he doesn’t possess much upside at WR.  Howie might make him available by trade for a late-round pick before cutting him if it comes to that.  Other teams would value his PR ability.

I don't think he's here to be "exciting," you have two of the top ten WRs in the NFL, you don't need more excitement.

What they probably envision him as are those reliable NE slot WRs who could consistently get open on 3rd down and catch the ball, the anti-Watkins.

All he needs is the first step burst, agility and route running to quickly separate, he has the RAC down, quickly transitions to a RB.

Question is whether he can beat NCBs on a regular basis and give Hurts that easy throw over the middle.

When you draft for need you burn yourself.  Not sure how many times that needs to be said.  There’s 31 other teams trying to get better…well about 29 because the Jags and Falcons exist.

Oh I think the Jags and Falcons are trying to get better, they're just not very good at it.;)

One of my few regrets is that we couldn't get future picks from the Broncos, Jags, Panthers or Falcons.

When I read the prospect profile on Wilson and Smith and saw their workout numbers, I liked the Wilson flier and hated the Smith pick.  When I took to the video and saw them play, I hated Wilson and understood the Smith pick.

I had watched Smith before draft when I saw he visited. I like him.  Yeah I doubt Wilson is a player but 6th rd so we'll see

Rice did with his message.

First time in a long time the Cowboys have had a draft where I saw damn, they made some killer picks. I like Cooper Beebe but he isn't a can't miss guy.

You saw the speed and separation of Smith and couldn't resist.

Disagree on both. I expect Hunt to play a lot. I think Fangio has specific plans for him. I’m thinking as a robber, covering the middle based on down and distance, or over the TE. As for Keegan, he has excellent technique. Michigan knows OL and how to coach it. They also had a great strength coach, Jonathan Brooks, who has followed Harbaugh to LA. Keegan won’t start but he may dress a lot after a few weeks. He’s close to plug and play. He may not be great but he’ll be serviceable.

I’d be stunned if he played a lot out of the gate. Howie all but called him a project they want to develop. It’ll take some time.

Jaylen Wright was my favorite RB in this draft, and Miami took him with the Eagles pick. But the Eagles got their 3rd next year which I'd do any day so can't be mad about that.

These guys speak highly of him but I think its hilarious listening to them talk about lack of balance, and going down on first contact, while actually watching the video and paying attention to what your eyes see. Couldnt be more opposite.

Did you watch that video I posted on him late last night? I thought it laid out the case on how to use him pretty well.

I think Eagles will probably bring Zach Cunningham back at some point.

I haven’t watched this video, but most of the time they’re showing the same few highlights over and over. Sometimes they’re going to show the exceptions to the rule.
