One thing about Hunt is that he walked on at Cornell, he wasn't there initially as a scholarship player. Which means that he has a pretty good head on his shoulders.

He might be the kind of guy that gets on the field sooner than expected just because he has a better of understanding of his assignments and what he needs to do and where he needs to be on any particular play.

  Cornell is Ivy league.   They don't give athletic scholarships.

They got Sanristill with 50. You left him out.

I stand by what I said.

Trotter and his son Trotter Jr were on 610 earlier today and Trotter Jr was talking about making a new celebration as a samurai or something.  F that he did the axe man celebration in college and it was great, he needs to continue to use that now that he will be 54 Trotter on the Eagles.

Yeah, but they have a work around that allows them to essentially give athletic scholarships. I did extensive research into this 20 years ago covering D1 hockey programs in the ECAC conference. Grant in aid I think was the term they used.

As do I. It was a trade the Eagles had to make but I think Washington got good value.

Saw several Tulsa games and he just doesn’t stand out. Sam doesn’t do much either.  Be surprised if they are more than third stringers through camp.

I hate this Sixers team.  No fight for rebounds.  The number of second and THIRD opportunities they have given away is inexcusable.   They don't deserve to win this series.

Good lord the Sixers rebounding and play designs are driving me insane

Harris makes me ill.

I agree.  But, I think the Eagles also got good value.  And they added value by trading back from 78... and got some picks for 2025 in the process.

Yup. Id add their bench being as bad as it is is also a major difference. Paul Reed is a -38 for the series and worse when Embiid hasn’t played with him. At some point can’t play him. He’s that awful. Bamba isn’t good either but if Reed is gonna be that bad then might as well try and see if bamba gives you more.

The entire team is making me ill right now.

I hate that I like Brunson

The Sixers organization is broken

Fire Tobias Harris into the Sun

Good news only have likely 1 game left of ever having to see him again in a Sixers uniform.

I hate all the Knicks.  They are all hate the face types.  :P   And I hate the Sixers fans letting the Knicks fans show up in such force.   Given, the Knicks fans haven't spent money on playoff tickets in about a quarter century, so they have some extra cash, I guess.

But... it appears to be what I said before Game 2.   Knicks win this Series in 5.

Also pretty sad how many Knicks fans they let invade the arena. Phillies would never. What a fair weather fanbase.

Josh Harris is the one that broke it.

They don't even have weather to blame.   They play indoors.  :P

Which is why I’m never going to worry about Washington

Britain Covey & James Bradberry.

The 2 lightning rods here that peeps will be harping on til training camp. Frankly believe both are in the driver's seat for a roster spot until knocked off.

For now, I keep Bradberry as depth, at worst. Bradberry is known for alternating bad years with good years. He will be fighting for his career this year and expect a bounce back of some sort where he isn't futile. They will be banking that Fangio can get something out of him in new defense.

Besides being a top punt returner in the NFL, Covey is big in the locker room and been good with team culture. Don't see him losing his spot fast. They are not just gonna cut him for unproven rookies.

I like Covey.

Re Bradberry,  his contract with the Eagles had him getting paid a guaranteed option bonus of $9 Million this year.  It was guaranteed and they paid it. Paid already, don't have to make a decision about whether to keep him to save $9.   Effectively, at this point, he is not costly, the cost was paid.  So,  I would think that he would be a backup.   Or,  maybe even a starter, unless he plays bad.   Last year the problem was that there were so many CBs who weren't good.  Arguably,  none of the CBs last year were actually good.  Slay was slightly above average,  but slightly above average isn't quite good.   Bradberry was below average, in the 50s PFF,  in the "bad" category but not the "terrible" category.  Maddox was in the "terrible" category with a PFF in the 40s.

It's certainly possible with the original innovator of this type of defense at the helm,  and with the terminology and the names of plays staying the same throughout the entire year,  a lot of players who had their PFFs in the bad or terrible category might just all move from terrible to bad,  or from bad to average,  or from average to good.  Who really knows.   It's definitely plausible that there will be upgrades solely because the players understand the defensive system and don't have to learn a new one in the middle of the season.

Bradberry and Slay are getting old.   I wouldn't be in any hurry to put Bradberry out there for 100% of the snaps for 100% of the games until he becomes fatigued,  injured, bad.   I would think that fresh Bradberry off the bench would have a higher PFF than plays all the time Bradberry.

One could argue that "I'm mad because the Eagles just spent big resources on DBs and they're not playing."   There's a decent chance that happens.    I would not be surprised at all if Slay and Bradberry were the starters week 1.   I would be very surprised if a) the Eagles were losing b) Slay and/or Bradberry were both starting and playing bad and c) Slay and Bradberry were continuing to start and play bad,  despite bad PFF numbers.

If Slay or Bradberry plays bad,   then expect Mitchell to play.  Or possibly Ringo.  Or possibly DeJean.   If the Eagles have a vet nickle or safety out there,  and playing bad with bad PFF,  expect DeJean to play there.      The secondary should be good this year,  whether it's because old vets are playing better by magic or no system change midstream,  or because Mitchell and DeJean are just flat out great.  There shouldn't be a lot of cbs with PFFs in the 40s and 50s this year, last year there were just too many of those.

Also about Bradberry,  again, they already paid him.   I don't see any reason to cut him,  because if they want to get rid of him,  the Eagles should be able to get something for him in a trade,  because the new team would not have to pay him $9 Million this year.   Theoretically,  Bradberry starts,  does good enough for a team to want to trade for him, perhaps after they have their own db injury,  and the Eagles have Mitchell, DeJean, Ringo to step in.

Embiid wow. Yikes.

Lowry is too smart... he assumed everyone knew what he was doing.   Better communication is needed on an intentional miss.   Meanwhile, great execution on the intentional miss.  Perfect roll off the rim.

He’s slow for a WR in any world.  Just watch his highlights.

I have.  He doesn’t come off as slow but his rounding is what I don’t like.   Wilson, Ngata, Herbert, Watkins, Harris, Davis and Parker are all trying out for the Pascal position.  It has been obvious that the Eagles are determined to add a Pascal type this offseason and missed that role last season.  Blocking and cutting are going to matter more than blazing speed for that role.  Route running and catching matter too but are only a part of the role.  I figure one of those five makes the team as WR 5 unless they are all miserably bad at blocking.  I would argue that role could be TE#4 and come from Albert O, Cacaterra, Jenkins, Togiai or Castles.  TEs will find blocking well is essential to that role here.
