Mosher claims Eagles will take a look at Becton at RG. I have no idea how that would work but we’ll see.

Well... he will likely put on some football gear, then they will ask him to line up directly to the right of the center (that's the guy that snaps or "hikes" the ball).  And then they will watch what he does... and they will see how he looks there.  Maybe they will use a wide angle lens, maybe a softening or diffusion filter.  Anyway, they need to figure out what the calendar will be this year.

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

How rigorous do you think it was?

Pretty rigorous. If they’re going to pay him $2M at a minimum and invest time and effort they need to know if his right leg can take the beating. It appears Stoutland sees something and he’s invested too.

And then Hurts drills him in the back of the head

Better prospect: Cooper DeJean this year or Brian Branch last year?

It's hard to compare. Branch was a monster in college but didn't test very well.

Well, Caplan also said that Dylan McMahon might play guard and that almost made me spit out my drink. Caplan is washed.

That would be a picture.

He knew Mitchell was the obvious pick all along. Good thing he let us know today and not on the empty the notebook pod the morning of the draft.

Good guy Caplan doesn’t tip picks.

Rakestraw was the second best corner in the draft, ahead of Mitchell. Just ask Brad Holmes.

Of course he says that now.

I liked him too (and Melton) and would have been totally happy with them in Rd 2. But I would have been happy with Mitchel and Dejean in Rd 1 (hell I was calling for a small trade up to grab Mitchell)

Good. This one never should have existed. And I hate it.

I hope they put him on a scale at some point and the first number was a 3.

I dont either. Im a little concerned about his helmet knocking down Hurts passes. But if he is healthy, you know you want your 5 best on the field. If he is something for @just relax to be so excited about, itd be hard to explain why you have him sitting on the bench when we have a wide open spot at RG to be won. I dont know if itll work out with a 6'7'' guard, but I certainly want to try it.

Did he really say this? The man has no shame.

Group A: cheap upside plays: Parris Campbell, Mekhi Beckton, Isiah Rodgers.

Group B: draft picks with something to prove: Jordan Davis, Nakobe Dean, Cam Jurgens, Tyler Steen.

Group C, RAS demon draft picks I want to see carve out a role for themselves, but may see the opportunity pass them by if they don't grasp it: Nolan Smith, Kelee Ringo.

Group D, impact vets or temporary, marginal contributors for this year only?  Reed Blankenship, Devin White, Milton Williams

Who from each group do you think will shine, and who do you think will sink?

Group A:

Rodgers shines — he has legit talent, can play NCB or outside, no on field red flags, and it’s easiest for a CB to contribute without injuries creating playing time.

Campbell sinks — at best he’s looking at a niche role as the deep threat.

Group B:

Jurgens — he’s the chosen one, has experience now, and will play every offensive snap that he’s healthy for.

Davis sinks — this is mostly just an expectations thing. People want Aaron Donald and he’s probably never going to be a double digit sack type of player.

Group 😄

Smith Shines— less competition and was a first round pick so will be given every opportunity.

Ringo sinks — finds Slay, Mitchell, DeJean, Rodgers and Ricks as competition. Tough to win playing time among that group. I think he’s going to be a quality player eventually though. Keep in mind he’s still younger than the two corners we drafted.

Group D :

Williams shines — he’s in a contract year working in a rotation where our highest snap count player from last year retired.

White sinks — he’s just a mediocre player.

Howie played the draft perfectly and could see less kids staying around if NIL money isn't as crazy

Yeah, not really close IMO. DeJean clearly has way more upside. Branch is what he is. It's the same as saying would you rather draft Blankenship or DeJean.

Branch is really, really good. I said before last year’s draft that I thought Branch could have been BPA at 30.

Wonder if the Eagles still would have targeted Hunt if Nolan Smith had a much better and promising rookie showing.

They love to invest at the position and BG and Sweat could both be gone in a year so it’s possible. Though everyone has assumed Sweat is gone in a year. If he has a big bounce back year I don’t think it’s a given he’s gone.

I don’t think Smith has anything to do with Hunt. People are writing off rookies from last year way too quickly, mainly Smith and Steen. Wanna be critical of Davis this year? Dean? Hell yeah. It’s year 3. Make or break. But, I still believe in Nolan Smith.

Dickerson is 6’6” and it hasn’t been a problem.

I’m more concerned that Becton’s height will let DTs get under his pads. It seems to me, from what I’ve seen, that Becton’s big advantage is actually his feet and ability to move with his mass. You kind of negate that putting him inside.

I watched the NFL Network’s draft coverage so I didn’t see the Belichick stuff. Here’s his big board (top 42) for those who didn’t see it:

Maybe I missed it but hadn't seen it posted before. The Eagles rookie minicamp list is below.

John Ross and Praise Olatoke have been talked about before. Can't say I know a heck of a lot about any of the others but interesting to see the number of corners in there - may signal that they want to sign another body as a UDFA at that position for over the summer. Shon Stephens is Joey Porter Jr's cousin is about all I can add beyond that.

  1. Blake Stenstrom, QB, Princeton
  2. Praise Olatoke, WR, Ohio State/IPP
  3. Jjay Mcafee, TE, Georgia Southern
  4. Jacob Roberts, LB, Wake Forest
  5. Cedric Anderson, CB, Grambling State
  6. Shon Stephens, CB, Ferris State
  7. Sheridan Jones, CB, Clemson
  8. Tavion McCarthy, CB, Mercer
  9. Kenny Churchwell III, S, UCLA
  10. Harry Mallinder, P, IPP
  11. John Ross, WR, Washington (Veteran Tryout)

Best case scenario really. He plays RG until Lane retires and then kicks out to RT.

Watched Jalynx Hunt’s snaps vs Prairie View A&M and Western Kentucky. I can understand the lack of sacks because he was asked to drop in coverage quite a bit. Nothing too crazy. Mostly just dropping into zones off the edge and from overhang. The other reason for a lack of sacks is having no idea what he’s doing. He makes a couple of cool jump cuts inside, but there doesn’t seem to be much refinement at all. He isn’t good with his hands. He did look good the time or two he was able to stunt inside. The speed is evident.

We’re gonna have to be really patient. He has a long way to go.

Cool article on Praise Olatoke, the IPP rookie minicamp invite below. Only played one season for the OSU club football team, and only caught 7 passes…for 230 yards and 4 TD’s.
