Pettine returning to his hometown-ish is a fun story just don't think he is good enough.  I want innovative and good.  Age doesn't matter to me.

Small junior class, but they can still leave as seniors. However I also think players will end up staying longer and youll start seeing a ton more 5th year seniors.

Howie knowing that he can probably get as many 7th round picks as he wants while ignoring the middle rounds.

I know Howie's history with drafting and signing safeties and linebackers but it's a flawed and failed view, creating these disjointed Frankenstein defenses is not a recipe for success and never will be which is proven.  Maybe after this years embarrassing joke, the front office will update their philosophies. Karen Kinchens would be a nice pick at 22. He has the physicality, intimidating presence and playmaking ability this back 7 desperately needs.

I think theres a ton of options at 22. Kinchens or possibly Calen Bullock. One of the CBs, we will have to see how they all shake out eventually but as of now you can probably have DeJean or McKinnstry. If one of them goes earlier then you probably end up seeing one of the very fast guys like Quinyon Mitchell, or Wiggins available at our pick. There will be WRs worthy of the pick. You may see a DE. Maybe Verse and Latu (sp?) from UCLA are gone, but you might get another speedster PSU guy like Chop Robinson. There will be some solid OT prospects available as well.

I'm on board!  Then we can send the Kinchens Sink at offenses!!

Hire Minter before he goes to Baltimore

If the draft is as top heavy as the experts say it is maybe the Eagles need to be looking to do whatever they can to get as many picks in the first 4 rounds as possible. That might even include packaging their 2 2nds to get back in to the late 1st or early 2nd.

Coming away with DeJean and Kinchens rather than having to pick one of them would go a long way towards rebuilding this secondary.

Or coming away with any top defensive talent paired with a top WR.

That would be nice but Howie is still going to have to do his job and bring in better defensive talent.

Also Harbaugh might take Minter with him if he takes an NFL job.

We shall only have colt coaches as Nick knows nobody else.

I'm beginning to wonder if Lurie even met with Sirianni yet. The report was they were scheduled to meet, and McLane said weather permitting. It was on the day of the storm. It's possible they still haven't met yet.

Yeah there will be lots of options, Kinchens is one of my favorite players in the draft and considering our back 7, I think he fits like a glove. There's other safeties I'd like in round 2 such as Bullock, Nubin. Bullock's stock may rise to late round 1 territory too. That length and ball skills is enticing. There's lots of corners, whichever ones they go with I seriously hope they are physical. Rakestraw, Mitchell, King, Melton are other later round 1/round 2 type prospects. I think Melton is a really tough physical corner going under the radar a little bit right now too. Not sure if we can get out of the contracts of our current starters. Hopefully Bradberry is gone at least. Corners Jaylon Johnson & Sneed are free agents. I'd love one of those two plus a physical type CB in the draft. Combine that with say Kinchens and a LB such as Cooper and I think the back 7 would be looking much better and on the right track to significant improvement.

But a team source said that Lurie, like many in the organization, has soured on his choices. In fact, one team source said that if Sirianni was allowed to keep his job, Lurie and general manager Howie Roseman would likely insist that he fire both his coordinators, if he wasn't planning to do it anyway.

Sirianni already demoted defensive coordinator Sean Desai late in the season and handed the play-calling over to senior defensive assistant Matt Patricia, though the defense only got worse from there.

There is an internal belief that he made a big mistake hiring Desai from outside the organization while passing over popular defensive backs coach Dennard Wilson, who immediately left to take the same job with the Baltimore Ravens. They could fix that by hiring Wilson to replace Patricia and Desai.

And there has been a lot of frustration with offensive coordinator Brian Johnson's play-calling late in the season — including his pass-happy approach against the Bucs even though Hurts was playing with a dislocated finger on his throwing hand and without No. 1 receiver A.J. Brown. Johnson was Hurts' choice to succeed Steichen when he left, but there's some speculation that relationship has soured too.

They're so dysfunctional. It makes no sense why they'd want to keep Sirianni if this is how Lurie feels.

I doubt he signs up to work here under a puppet on the hot seat.  On a team that turned him down last year.  With a D devoid of talent.  And he'll most likely go whereever Harbaugh goes.

He must be counting his blessings we passed him over last year.

No chance.

Given this OT class that feels like the most likely first rounder to me.

We really need a complete overhaul on defense. That starts at the top and the organizational philosophies. Once they loosen their grip there then we can have some real change on the defense. But Howie giving up control and such, I'm just not sure about that no matter how bad we have looked. Jeff can just dictate this if he wants but I have no faith there either. Once that grip on the philosophy is loosened, then it would be easier to hire a quality defensive mind to steer the ship, plus hire scouts and another upper level mind that have a known successful history on the defensive side of the ball and go from there. The new coach would have say on who his coaches are as well. I know Rivera has been mentioned but that Washington defense seemed to underachieve to me. They have quite a few players over there and it never seemed to be anything special at all.

If Latham, Mims or Fuaga is there, I'd be extremely tempted. Any of the three can slide into RG, be a powerhouse there with an eye towards RT if/when necessary.

Doubtful.  Lowie enjoy pulling the strings too much to bring in a head coach or DC with a different philosophy and autonomy.  It's just gonna be another puppet that runs the scheme that Lowie and the analytics department insist on.

That can still work if there at least is sufficient talent on the D, but Lowie completely screwed the pooch on that this season.  They need to invest more money and high draft picks to fix this D, and I'm not sure that aligns with their philosophy on team building.
